Her grin widened when he looked back at the pictures.

Wait...say what? "You almost didn't?" she asked, slightly concerned. That also brought up another question, "Why?"

That could be 'why' to two things, though. Why did he almost not take the job (presuming that was the case), and why he was glad that he did.
