Benjamin believes that you should always dress for success, so he always wears a suit and tie to work- Every day. Along with the suit, he usually sports a fedora, which he keeps on his desk while working. Recently, Ben has been wearing charmed glasses as to keep unfriendly eyes out of his mind.

~Traits~

Benjamin is a very smart and very intelligent person; if cocky at points. Because of a troubled history, he presents a false persona to those who do not know him as to hide his true feelings. Ben takes work in Magical Law Enforcement very seriously, but believes you need humor in life in order to not go crazy.

Ben is a Detective- and an experienced one. He may make radical statements, but he has logic for support and knows his own limitations in thinking. Ben gets annoyed with morons and those who underestimate him. He knows he is more intelligent than most and will use this to his advantage to outsmart and out manipulate people.

As for spellwork, Ben is amazing at charms and defensive work. When attacking or defending, he will usually use his environment and wits to take down an opponent. However, he can take down a person directly.

Being born in New York City, Ben is very proud of that and thus has prevented himself from developing a British accent.

~The Past~

Benjamin was born in New York City to Ian and Amelia Amsten. His sister, Annabell was 10 years older than him and will be beginning her studies at the New York School of Magic later that year. Benjamin was a very smart boy for a little kid, and had a very close relationship with his mother.

Amelia was the one that first taught Ben to be a detective. Playing simple games to teach the boy logic and pattern spotting. Before long, Ben was his mother's "Little Detective" and he would be able to easily be sent on treasure hunts and "Lost Item" hunts.

Right after Ben turned six, his mother was murdered in front of him- scarring him for life. He was playing outside on the side walk with his action figures with his mom, when two idiots where messing with magic. Recognizing these people as crooks, Amelia tried to stop these people from hurting any muggles, but one of the men killed her before she got the chance. Ben's life was never the same again.

Having his hero be Batman, Benjamin vowed to not let anyone be hurt like he was ever again- Just like his hero. This began his quest into magical law enforcement.

After Amelia's mother, Ian was never the same again, either- getting lots of Anxiety. Right before Ben was supposed to begin his first year at the NYSoM, Ian made a sudden move to England, forcing Ben to attend Hogwarts.

After being sorted into Ravenclaw, Ben was very cocky and very fresh with everyone around him as to hide his true feelings of depression. This got him in trouble, but his DADA teacher realized all he needed was something to do. And he gave him books to read. These books taught him advanced Detective Work and advanced defensive spellwork. These self-lessons got him through the school year.

Over the summer, Ben worked with the local police as a shadow/unpaid intern. His dream was finally realized when he was given a full time summer job at the age of 15.

Ben graduated Hogwarts with top marks on all of his NEWT's and OWL's. After, he took 3 years to earn his Detective title and Bachelor's in Criminology before finally starting at the English Ministry. He was taken under the wing of the Department Head, Warren, before he worked his way to Division Head of the Improper Use of Magic and Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office.

At this point, Ben had been seeing Antoni Dacosta; or 'Dacs.' He and her can relate to each other and have vowed to be there for each other- but they haven't been officially dating at all- Ben was going to take a year to move back to New York.

Ben's dad's health had been getting worse and Ben wanted to be there for him. Ian was slowly getting memory loss and major anxiety attacks and it got worse and worse each day. After a few short months, Ian died of a heart attack.

Not shortly after, Ben transferred to the American Ministry as he wanted to get back to his roots. He impressed the whole MLE and after 4 months, became Head Auror. Ben was well respected and well known.

However, realizing his sister and her family (and Dacs) lived in England, Ben came back after 6 months to see the English MLE in havoc. It was very chaotic and empty; and they hadn't replaced Ben since he left. So, taking his old desk, Ben assigned himself acting Division Head and continued like nothing happened. However, Ben and Dacs' relationship got shaken up.

They are currently in a state of "we're kind of talking, but we need to have a real conversation," but Ben can't take any risks because of the shifty things going on.

Ben is currently the Director of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Offices since the renovations. He will continue to do what he can to stop whatever's going on at the Ministry- even if he would rather be taking down bad guys, then controlling dark items.
