Jared shrugged. The snake hissed back, before coiling-ish up, and he passed it before the Little Human could get more ideas.

Little Humans are scary.

It seemed Septimus was not the only student rooted to the spot. Jared glanced at the Baron, quite certain in advance that the Baron would understand the glance and then, raising his lantern, turned to the three students that had not followed the ghost's trail. In the quiet, Violet's shouting echoed far and wide.

"Ladies." He held up his lantern, the light illuminating all three of them. "Please keep your voices down, we don't want to attract unnecessary attention." Pause. "Is there a problem? Selina? Elektra?" His voice was the usual neutral as his green gaze came to a rest on the Slytherin.
