I don't want to play the blame game any more, I want to be sure that our team are each the best they can be, and that any new recruits to any division within the Department are not only trained sufficiently at a basic level, but have the opportunity to specialise and increase their skills."
He grinned easily again.
"I want your help. I could do it myself but I don't think that would be fair, you've got plenty to offer that I can't give." And vice versa.
"I'm not asking you as a friend, you need to know that. If you say no to this, it won't effect our friendship. This is something I want to offer you, for your career and for peace of mind. I'll find a way to make it happen, regardless of your involvement,be sure of that. But your experience, your skills, are exactly what is needed." They needed some specialization in skills alright... the whole lot of them. He had yet to see them all in action, really, but what he had seen made him wonder what had been going on in the Dept. before Van took it over. It was worrisome, really.
"I figured that anything that you ask of me while we are on the job IS job related. I get what you are saying, loud and clear," he said as he stroked his mustache thoughtfully. Van was saying he could find another way to do it, with or without him... that didn't motivate him very much. The truth of the matter was, he knew that he did have more experience than anyone else in that department.
"Alright. All I need to do is have a look at their personnel files. The ones coming in from Security as well. See where there specialties lie. From that point I can figure who needs what training and how to move forward," he said more to himself than to Van at this point. "Yeah. I can do it. No doubt. I'm in. And by the way... thanks. For bearing with me while I have been readjusting and such," he said in the same gruff tone as before.
...
"Hey there is something I have been meaning to ask you. Well a few things really. Non work related... First, why didn't you warn me about Hunter? And secondly... when are you and Lil getting married, old man?" Damien said as he settled back into a typical demeanor. Hehhhehe. |
