Unless his ears were giving up on him and he was not listening to whatever he was supposed to, which will explain why Ellie said that he already knew?
He...wasn't made for riddles. "I don't know," he said, defeated again, and his hands let go of hers, as unexpected as before, "I seriously don't know." And this time it seemed he was talking about something else, as if replying to some inner inquiry. He wanted to know, but...
...he just looked away.
But his mind couldn't let go. "No, wait, I need to know, because as soon as I mentioned 'Bishop' you went all silent on me, and, yes, glared at me, and I don't like that, I didn't like it, so, yes, I actually need to know why...," he started to say, talking rather fast, or much too fast, hopefully she'll understand all he's saying, "...if you did it just because I mentioned her name, then you have to let me know...," and he was kind of getting upset, "...I hate hurting you, and it seems that I do that a lot, if I can avoid doing so then I want you to tell me why...," he may have been rambling now, but yeah, he didn't even think about what he was saying, his mouth kind of took over, "...and if her name actually bothered you, then I'm sorry to say that I won't stop saying it, because I'm still taking her class, and probably continue to do so in the future...," which was actually true, he missed Nolan very much, A LOT, actually, Treyen was not losing a class he liked the most too, so, whoever decided to step into the Divination office then that's the one Treyen will be seeing quite a bit, "...that's the only thing I have left from Nolan." Divination, that is.
And he actually blushed, though, it was very likely that all the talking had him blushing, since...well...he was pretty sure that the last bit was never said out loud. The boy was also very sure that he got sidetracked from whatever he'd been meaning to say, or to NOT say, but, yeah, never mind.
His eyes were on her, but he was...the silent one, this time around. Amazing how he'd always annoyed Melanie because she was the Silent Lockhart and now it was his turn. "I--I think my thoughts got slightly out of...focus...," and...he needed his dinner, really. .....
What was all of that?
As confusing as that all was, Ellie was pretty sure she'd followed it. She thought she did, at least.
And...he'd just said the why again! Only, she couldn't tell him cuz he had kept going on...
...Was he done? He seemed done...
Her turn. "You didn't mention 'Bishop', though, and you know it." He'd mentioned 'Renee'. Which was Bishop, but it wasn't the same. And then he'd gone and mentioned 'Nolan' and didn't even make the connection.
The other thing that had stuck out during that...explosion of words, "When have you hurt me?" She had been blissfully unaware, apparently.
And...that was all she remembered, really. Oh and, "I don't care if you take her class. You like it. You should take it." Why did that matter? Reyn?
Well...that was... "You should take the class," Ellie repeated. "Same." Only, they were perfectly clear until he'd ranted. And now she didn't know what to make of it.
