New post

It was bright, maybe too bright for human eyes. George blinked repeatedly as he looked around. He could have sworn he died. It was his intention to die, so he could be with Emily. He looked down at himself and noticed he was wearing clothes he had not put on himself that morning. He was wearing dress robes; it was actually the exact dress robes he had worn to his wedding. His brow furrowed as he wondered how he had gotten into these clothes. And then something white caught his eye. It was more blinding than the sun itself, and very beautiful. His breath caught in his throat as she smiled at him.

Emily was sitting at the stump of a tree, her white wedding gown spread out around her. One of her hands was resting on the bark, over a small etching in the tree. She was eighteen again and more healthy than he had seen her in weeks. She was breathtaking, literally. Her hand slowly moved down the bark, patting the seat next to her. She winked at him and he slowly moved toward her, in a dreamlike fashion.

His smooth face formed into an expression of confusion as he stared at her. She smiled warmly, already knowing his question.

“Yes,” she said simply.

“Yes what?” he whispered, marveling over the beauty of her voice.

“We are dead,” she whispered as she touched the back of his hand softly. He twisted his palm upward and she intertwined their fingers.

“But, where are we?” he whispered.

“In our own Heaven,” she whispered as her other hand caressed the back of his cheek. He looked around himself again and noticed the Black Lake feet away and then it dawned on him that they were under their tree, their initials with the heart around them in between where they were sitting. Emily grinned at him and he slowly returned it.

“I was thinking you’d never wake up,” Emily murmured.

“What do you mean?”

“The cruse…it hit you pretty hard. You blacked out here and I’ve been waiting on you to wake up all night,” she whispered.

“All night?” he repeated. She nodded slowly, watching him.

“The kids? The others! Are they okay? What happened?” George said frantically, his heart suddenly hammering in his chest.

“They’re fine… Scorpius was injured, but healing. Ruthie…” Emily whispered. She heard George gasp and quickly shook her head. “Ruthie lost the baby; she took it pretty hard, but she’s fine now,” Emily whispered. George buried his head in his hands for many minutes, taking it all in.

“What do you mean by she’s fine now?” he asked in confusion.

“Time moves differently here than it does there, slower. Though it’s only been a night here, it’s been weeks there,” Emily said quietly.

“Weeks?” he repeated.

“Yeah, you missed when they heard our will,” Emily whispered.

“How are they?” he asked, referring to all of their kids.

“Amelia and Sirius… They keep on a brave face for the kids, but almost every night, they lose it and cry. I’m glad Kendall and Allison are there for support. At first, Ruthie wouldn’t even get out of bed. The death of us and then losing the baby took quite a toll on her. But Scorpius is helping her… And Remus and Fred… They’re not taking it so great. But at least they understand what’s going on. Emma and Geoffrey still don’t understand it, even though they went to the funeral. They’re still waiting for us to come wake them up in the morning with breakfast ready on the table.” Emily had a tear running down her cheek at the memories of how hard it was to even watch their pain. George wiped it away gently.

“I’m sure, with a little time, everything will be fine. They will be fine.” Emily nodded vaguely.

“They’re better today,” she whispered. “Come look.” Emily led him over to the edge of the Black Lake. George stared at it for a moment before it shimmered and then transformed into an image. It was like watching a movie, just blurred at the edges.

Ruthie and Scorpius were helping Teddy and Vic move into Emily’s old childhood home, since it was left to him in her will. Emma and Geoffrey appeared in the doorway, both smiling with kites in their hands.

Now will you take us kite flying?” Geoffrey begged, pouting his lip at Ruthie. She sighed and smiled, tousling his hair.

“Sure, buddy, go get your shoes on and we’ll go,” she smiled. Emma and Geoffrey ran off to find their shoes.

“Do you know what Amelia and Sirius have decided yet?” Teddy murmured as he watched Ruthie.

“Yeah, Amelia and Kendall are moving back into her old room. Sirius and Allison bought the house right across from them. They’re moving in with little Ainslie this weekend,” Ruthie murmured.

“So, they didn’t want to take Uncle Harry, Aunt Ginny, Uncle Ron, and Aunt Hermione up on their offer?” Victoire asked softly. Ruthie was already shaking her head.

“We don’t want to break my family apart. I know that Uncle Harry was going to take Emma and Geoffrey and Uncle Ron was going to take Fred and Remus, but we decided, as a family, that it would be better to keep them all together. It’s for the best,” Ruthie murmured as she fidgeted uncomfortably.

“And you guys?” Teddy whispered.

Ruthie glanced at Scorpius and he nodded. “They need me right now… We’re going to move back into my room and help out with the little ones for a while,” Ruthie said with a sigh.

“Ruth, I’m sure Amelia and Sirius could handle it… Besides, I thought you already had a house picked out?”

“We do, and it will still be there when it’s time,” Scorpius murmured as he moved over to Ruthie’s side, hugging her. Teddy just nodded slightly as the kids bounded back in the room.

“We’re ready!” they announced together. Ruthie chuckled as she took each of their hands. She and Scorpius Apparated them to the beach and they started flying their kites.

“See, everything will be fine,” Emily murmured after a while.

George scooted closer to her, taking her hand in his. It was then that he realized that they really would be together Forever and Always, forever frozen at eighteen.

“What?” she whispered.

Ever so slowly, George moved his hand in her hair, his eyes never moving from hers. He cupped her face in his other hand and she grinned at him. They fell back against the russet earth, tangled together. He started kissing her lips, biting her lower lip. Her hands slid through his hair, no longer showing signs of grey in areas.

After they had settled down, Emily pulled George up off the ground. He pulled her into a hug, his hands exploring her spine.

“Come on,” she whispered as she let go of him, taking his hand in hers. “There’s something I want to show you,” she said with a large grin.

George smiled back. He was up for anything, as long as it was with her. She tugged him over to the path to the school. Their walk seemed dreamlike still, as if it weren’t real. But he was already used to it. They were at the doors of Hogwarts in no time at all, because there really was no time. George faintly noticed that their clothes had changed into something more comfortable. Emily pushed open the door and led George to one of the secret entrances into Hogsmeade. George gasped loudly as he realized who was leaning up against the wall, Marauder’s Map in hand. The teenager glanced up, grinning from ear to ear.

George ran forward, hugging his twin tightly. Fred snickered, but hugged George the same. Emily caught his eye and Fred motioned for her to join them. She went to the side, her arms slinking around their shoulders.

“Just like old times,” she murmured.

“Except that we’re dead,” Fred laughed. Emily and George chuckled along with him.

“Come on, we’re going to be late,” Emily said as she pulled away. “We only came to get you,” she said as she looked at Fred. George looked at her in confusion for a moment before she took both of their hands and led them back outside to the lake.

“Late for what?” George finally asked.

Fred laughed silently beside them. “You’ll see,” Emily murmured as she pecked him on the cheek.

“Are we late for the party?” someone asked in amusement from behind them. George turned around quickly, his eyes raking over the small group of people.

What do you think? And, yes, I am well aware that it may be corny and what not, but I don't care! One more post left after this!
