Adelyn had just laced up her skates, and stood at the edge of the frozen pond, looking out at it nervously. She had only ever ice skated a few times in her life, so she was a little worried about how this was going to turn out. She tucked a loose curl behind her ear, before stepping out onto the ice.
One foot in front of the other...then the other... It couldn't be that hard. Actually, it was relatively easy! She glanced around for someone she knew, and spotted Maddie. "Hey, Maddie!"
Woop! Maddie was skating - and not falling over! Yay! She did a lap of the Lake, and then another, until she'd really gotten the hang of it. Then, hearing someone call her name, she turned and looked for the whoever was calling. Oh, it was Adelyn. She skated over, smiling at her friend.
'Hey, Ade,' she said.
'Looks like we've both got the hang of this,' she added, grinning.
She hadn't seen Adelyn for aaages!
'So, how are you?' she asked, wondering what her friend had been doing while she'd been ill. Probably the same as everyone else... lessons and stuff. Anyway.
