I better shut it then.” He said clearly amused by the situation. The words, 'it's a date then', were not objected to and Freds found that rare smile creeping it's way across his face once again. It seemed to be happening a lot around this girl. Weird.
He listened to her as they walked, turning his head to look at the Head Girl when she scrunched up her nose. Now that was cute. His eyebrows raised a little when she professed that her dad had been a professional Quidditch player along with the Muggle Studies professor. “That's cool.” He said quietly, thoughtfully, then shook his head. “Me?” He asked incredulously. “No.. no. I've never even been on a broom before.. but it's in my blood, I guess.” He gave a small shrug. “My cousin was captain here.. and a couple of my ancestors were pro players.” But that meant nothing didn't it? Freddie didn't even know what a Snitch was let alone a Bludger.
He felt Trixie shudder beside him and the temptation to put an arm around her in an effort to provide some sort of comfort was almost overwhelming. He strangely felt protective towards this girl and he didn't quite know why. It was made weirder by the fact that Trixie was clearly someone who could look after herself. He bit his bottom lip, his eyes focusing on the floor about two feet ahead of them as she continued to talk and he remained quietly contemplative. He nodded in agreement: it was more believable. He looked up at her, shrugging to her question. “Yeah.” He eyed a portrait just behind her. “It's really creepy when you're not used to it.” His eyes flitted back to Trixie's in surprise. They could hear? “They can?” He frowned. “But they're everywhere. I wondered why I felt like I was being watched the whole time I've been here.” He looked away and thought for a moment. “Suppose this means you can't get away with much if the walls have eyes and ears.” Not a nice thought.. especially for someone like Freddie Broadmoor.
She.. wait... She wouldn't mind if people thought-- Freddie gulped. He wasn't expecting that at all. He gave her a small smile, one that actually touched his eyes as he looked down at the smaller blonde girl. He wasn't sure whether he should say anything, DO anything... Kiss her? Would she accept it? Or would she push him away and tell him he wasn't in her LEAGUE! This girl was NOTHING like the girls at Fred's old school - they were forward in their affections and open about what they were thinking. Freddie had been popular; he was intelligent; a leadership figure in a way, and therefore had never been in this position before. He might have gone in for the kill had he not suddenly felt so awkward about who he was and what Trixie thought about him ..so instead he just continued to hold her hand.
The mocking at his old school was nothing to fret over. Just lads being lads. He wasn't sure Trixie understood where he was coming from but her body language appeared relax and unconcerned. He had to smile slightly when she looked him up and down, coming to the conclusion that, yes, he could look after himself perfectly well. He nodded. “Course they do. My first impression of you wasn't...” He trailed off deciding not to finish that sentence for fear of getting a smack. On appearances alone, he wasn't sure he even liked Trixie at first. He'd been proved wrong though hadn't he? He shook his head. “Dumb blonde? No.” He said honestly. “That's really not what I thought. You don't look.. unintelligent.” No lobotomised dimness in this girl's eyes. You could tell A LOT about a person purely by their eyes and Trixie's were bright and pretty and had a slight mischievous glint in them. He liked that about her. He nodded: yeah, change COULD be good. He just wasn't all that chuffed about this particular change. “There's so much to take it in, a lot of it's going straight over my head.” He admitted with a dismissive shrug of the shoulders.
He looked at her curiously when she echoed his words of earlier, 'I don't lie', and she was smiling again. How exactly? What was that supposed to mean? “Well...” he tilted his head to the side and thought about this. “..How would YOU like me to make it up to you?” He smirked slightly knowing the line had sounded more than just a little flirtatious as it left his lips.
The chat about money was rather uncomfortable for Freddie, but he was pleased when it morphed into how there was a variety of kids at the school. It was one of the first things he had noticed here... and that was even before the discovery of blood status. By the sounds of it Trixie lived in a mansion, and Freds was aware that she was avoiding saying it. “So your house is big?” He asked directly. She had HORSES! She must have had land. He nodded. “Nah.. I was born in London and that's where I've always stayed.” She had a point.. but Freddie had always thought of the countryside as something like the trees and hills of the Cotswolds, not rugged mountainous Scotland. “Wales?” He queried. “Thanks.. but why Wales?” Urh.. she had picked up on his question dodging. He frowned and sighed. “You can't have seen ALL of London.” He mumbled. Nope. She was NOT going near his home!
A breeze? Trixie was a lot more optimistic than Freds was about this. “No promises.” He replied. “You shouldn't promise something that you can't guarantee.” Wasn't it bad luck or something? ..Eh.. but since when had Freddie been superstitious? “But I'll work hard. I'm going to TRY and get decent grades if I can.”
Trixie seemed rather startled by the skinhead's question. His brow furrowed but soon smoothed out when Trixie quashed his silly rather nightmare inducing ideas. “The title.. it just implies..” He trailed off and just listened to the Head Girl as she listed what they got up to in 'Muggle Studies'. 'Their way of life?' It did make muggles sound like they were chimps. “So basically I'm going to class to learn how to live without magic?” He asked, his eyebrows raising and a small smirk playing on his lips. “..Seems a bit pointless considering I was up until under a year ago.” He smiled properly. Telephones? So maybe Trixie was right when she said he would pass at least one exam.
Freddie nodded. Yeah.. Oliver had moved out. “Girlfriend.” He corrected the girl, curious as to why she had lowered her voice and so deliberately referred to Cameron as a 'friend'. His suspicious that Oliver and Trix had dated growing all the more as a result. But.. Trixie looked so sad all of a sudden that any hint of jealousy was quashed in that moment. “Sorry.” He mumbled softly, an arm snaking it's way around her shoulders to give her a gentle, reasurring squeeze. “You and he were obviously close.” Yeah. Close. It would have been easier to accept if it had been anyone other than his annoying cousin.
He raised his eyebrows and looked down at Trixie. The only brave thing she had ever done was... “What?” He asked with a slight chuckle. Why had she cut the sentence short?
Trixie was looking so suspicious that Freddie got the feeling they weren't supposed to be in the kitchens. He ignored it though. She was Head Girl – she could talk their way out of it no doubt. He caught the rolling of the eyes and knew that Trixie knew he was just being awkward just for the sake of it. Dominate the world? He smiled amusedly. Wits differently? Yeah, he'd clocked onto that pretty quickly and had said something similar before. “For making plans for world domination?” He nodded approvingly. “Yeah.. I guess I can roll with that.” He winked at the blonde.
Free elves? So that meant they'd been given.. clothes? Now that was such an odd concept to Freddie. “Maybe that would be different if we hadn't brainwashed them into believing that's their purpose.” Freddie replied, picking up a pasty whilst watching the elves scurry about doing their chores. He sat at a table and looked at Trixie expectantly, waiting for her to follow suit. “You're not eating?”
It was quite a debate deciding which common room was the best but the Slytherin Common Room still won her over well and truly. It was cool right, being under the lake and able to see everything that was going on in there, the merpeople, the whatever else lived down there. And it was a lot quieter, up here the Huffies had people coming in and out of the kitchens whenever, it must have got a little boring and busy after a while.
"Nah its fine. Juts be sure to lower your voice when you walk past one" she giggled and winked. Heck, they all did it didn't they? She looked up at him to see him smiling genuinely and grinned back. She liked his smile, a lot, it made her feel happy to see someone else smiling for once.
"
Never? You've NEVER been on a broom?" she asked blinking a few times. But flying was one of the most amazing parts of having the magical abilities.
"Well we're gonna have to change that aren't we? Even if you don't go to flying classes, flying is amazing" she grinned. And even if that meant he had to go to her house, not that she was bothered at all by that, in fact she quite liked that idea, she WOULD get him up on a broom. His cousin was captain, yeah she kinda worked that out by now.
"He was MY captain" she smiled weakly, she missed those days so much.
"I didn't bother even trying out for the team this year, didn't think I would, well play so well and I'm busy this year aren't I?" she sighed. There was more than one reason behind those excuses as well. It just wouldn't be the same, and anyway NEWT year meant she had things to concentrate on.
Her eyes drifted over to his face as she shuddered and it went kinda quiet. He was biting his lip? But that was what she tended to do. The Blonde couldn't help but smile and raise her eyebrow, mainly because she had no idea what he was thinking about but still, he kinda fascinated her. "
Yeah of course they can. You can have a proper conversation with them" she nodded. Her eyebrow raised incredibly high at his next comment however.
"I hope your not planning on doing anything that could get you in trouble" she smirked a little however, she wasn't completely against twisting a few rules here and there. "
And remember who your talking to here Freddie" she giggled
"Your not going to get away with anything when I'm here either" she smirked. Well it depended on what that rule was, or whatever it was he was doing.
Her eyes followed to his face, her head tilting as she looked at him, spotting the way his eyes were glinting at her. It bought a pretty smile to her face. She liked it, in fact she loved it. Her eyes drifted down to their hands, half expecting something to happen but it didn't. She half smiled as she looked back up. There was definitely something about that family, they had some sort of strange connection with her, she felt incredibly comfortable with them, like she could talk with them for hours and never get bored, like she would want to spend all her time with them. It was definitely strange, but by no means was she complaining, she hadn't felt THIS happy in quite some time.
His first impression had been what? Good? Bad? Like she was a stuck up cow that wouldn't give a care in the world for anyone else? Because that definitely wasn't what she was, in fact she was quite the opposite.
"Wasn't..??" she questioned. "
I promise I won't be angry, I get it. As I said, we all do it, I'd be a hypocrite if I said I didn't" she bit her lip. Trix laughed a little at his at his revelation, the fact that she didn't look dumb. She could argue that she did, blonde, no common sense whatsoever, but she loved that he didn't think she did, she wouldn't want people to think she was a dumb girl, she had all 12 OWLs for goodness sake.
"Well, thank you" she grinned. "
You can steal my notes if you really wanted to. Or, well steal me if you wanted private tutoring" she told him, she'd be perfectly willing to help if that was what he wanted.
And then came the question. Trixie's eyes darted up to meet his, a serious smile on her face, she knew what she wanted, but whether he would do it for her was another matter. He was so different from herself, completely varying backgrounds, he probably had no interest in her whatsoever.
"Kiss me?" she lowered her voice into an almost whisper, he cheeks turning bright red and the thought of what she had just said. YEAH nice one Trix, real smooth. Now she just felt like hiding, in fear of getting completely rejected. She'd never normally be so open, so forward in fact, but he had done something to her she wasn't used to.
Change of subject! Yes that was most definitely welcome.
"You could say that.. Lets just say I have my own wing" she revealed cringing slightly. Did she sound like a bighead now? Because she wouldn't CARE if she didn't live in her mansion, it wasn't essential was it?
"I wouldn't mind trying to live in a city, don't think i'd be able to sleep though, it would be too noisy for me" she laughed at the thought. She was so used to the peace and quiet of the Countryside, it would be such a dramatic change.
"I love in Wales" she frowned momentarily, was there something wrong with Wales then?
"I guess not" she continued to frown a little. He was definitely not letting her near his home. Well, if he didn't want to she wouldn't push it.
"But I think you will. I KNOW you will. We'll just have to see won't we?" she smirked and nodded.
Muggle studies was FUN when you weren't being hit in the head by baseball, especially as it was Jeremy taking the lesson.
"Yeah pretty much, told you you'd be able to get a NEWT very easily" she grinned.
"And its a lesson that YOU can help me in. I'm not so good at it myself, guess I've been kinda ignorant of that World" not that she wanted to be, her family just weren't Muggle socialising type of people.
"It won't be pointless if you can get a really good grade.." she suggested.
A low grumble could be heard coming from Trixie at the correction. "
Yeah...Whatever" she muttered, not meaning to be rude or anything, just trying avoiding the conversation that would come out of it. It was then that she felt his arm around her shoulders and the Slytherin completely relaxed. It felt right and she looked up at him with a weak but genuine smile.
"Thank you" she spoke in a soft tone, really meaning what she was saying.
"We were like that" she crossed one finger over the other. In fact, they still were.
"
I cant remember what I was going to say" she scrunched up her nose as she thought. No it wasn't going to come back to her was it?
"Dealing with my memory loss I guess" the seventeen year old sat on the worktop.
"Yep. Cos you know, we're all evil aren't we?" she pulled a face at the rumours.
"Of course we're gonna want to take over the World at some time" she caught the wink, smiling as she looked down at her feet feeling herself blushing just the slightest. Oops.
If it was up to her she wouldn't really want a house elf doing absolutely everything for her. At home she tended to clean out the horses stables by herself instead of letting her house elf doing it for her. She'd saddle them up too, do practically everything, if she wanted to accomplish something, she should do it herself.
"Its not OUR fault though is it?" she asked. But they were here weren't they? And it didn't look like they were gonna go.
"I'm vegan" she eyed the pasty he was eating. "
I'm alright for now" she smiled reasurringly.
