The boy said nothing, though, as they walked down the path and Ivory proceeded to share with him the things she liked to do in her free time. The reading bit didn't surprise him much; not only was she in Ravenclaw, but she had been carrying a book when the tree attacked her. Only Ravenclaws walk around with books that aren't required for class. But then she was adding more to that list… Violin? At this, goofy Braeden's brown eyes widened. She played the violin?! Merlin, that was… well, that was pretty epic. And quite sophisticated of her. "Where do you play?" asked Braeden curiously. He doubted she'd play inside the girls' dormitory if she really liked to play late at night; the other girls would probably get annoyed by the noise, wouldn't they? "Is there some secret theatre here in Hogwarts I don't know about? If so please tell me where it is and when's your next performance, 'cause I want front-row tickets," he added with a lopsided grin. But he was still rather amazed by her talent, and couldn't help but want to hear her perform. He'd never really gotten to see anyone play any instruments live, especially a violin.
As Ivory shared with Braeden her late-night trips to the kitchens, the boy's dark eyebrows rose slightly. "Really? I'm surprised we haven't met sooner, then," he said with surprise, since the kitchens were, after all, sort of like his second home. After the dormitories. Bed and food; yep those were pretty high up in Brae's list of priorities. "Though, well, I don't really ever remember going to the kitchens at night; when I go in the afternoon, between classes, the elves tell me they always see me the night before." He shrugged. "They say I look hypnotized and out-of-it, so I'm starting to suspect there's either a clone of mine out on the loose or I might be a sleepwalker. My money's on the latter, though; I've never had the fortune of meeting a clone of mine."
And then the tables turned and it was now Ivory who was asking Braeden what he liked to do. Hmmmmm. What did Braeden Stonem, Gryffindor's cowardly lion and biggest doof like to do? That was a tough one. "Well, besides saving pretty girls from murderous spies sent to attack by the Whomping Willow," he started with a soft chuckle, "I like to wander around the castle and the school grounds; if you look hard enough, you can find some really interesting secret passages… I like to play football" - (soccer) - "but I usually only do that at home; there's no footballs here and last time I tried to use a bludger as one, it hit me on the face and broke my nose." He grimaced slightly at the memory, passing a couple fingers over his nose on instinct. "Sometimes I write; I want to make the first movie for witches and wizards ever, so sometimes I write plays - or rather, try. I never get past the first five pages before getting another idea and deciding to start over on something different," he said with a chuckle. "And when I'm not doing any of those things, I'm writing letters home, to my little sister. She's fascinated by this magic business and always requests I send her some of the magical candy the elves from the kitchens give me," he finished with a smile. Laughing, Ivory tugged a leaf out of her hair and let it float away in the breeze. "Oh no, no theater for performances. I just use a mute while I practice at night in the common room and go to the Room of Requirement when I actually want to hear myself play with full sound." It was nice and quiet, not too far from her common room and wonderful if she ever needed anything for her violin. "Think I even played in the kitchen once..." But that had been like last term or was that last last term...
Grinning at his raised eyebrows, Ivory nodded. "We must've just missed eachother half a dozen times." Especially between classes. That was prime snacking time.
Now it was her turn to raise her eyebrows mischievously. Late night foraging. A person after her own heart, or should one say stomach? "More like sleepeating." She quipped with a smile. "I think I'll have to agree with you. But don't rule the clone theory out. For all you know, it could be a spanking sapling in disguise infiltrating our school by eating us out of house and home slowly but surely." Her eyes dancing in mirth she kicked at a small stone sending it rolling merrily ahead of them as she listened attentively.
Aw shucks. Her...a pretty girl. Laughing slightly to hide her slight blush, she waved off the compliment shyly and smiled. He liked to wander the grounds too. Oh and secret passages. "Especially the really hidden ones. My first year here I must've spent the entire term roaming and poking at every stone and book just to try to find them." By no means had she found them all or even remembered most of the ones she had, but still it had been a fun year.
Tuning in for the next part of his sentence, Ivory paused in the pathway and stared.A bludger for a football. Stifling a giggle, she shook her head ruefully. "That sounds painful but I do have good news..." Pausing for dramatic effect, she pointed in a specific direction. "The new groundskeeper actually added a playing field specifically for football." Reaching up spontaneously she gave his nose a tap. "And it comes complete with actual footballs rather than bludgers."
A little taken aback by her sudden invasion of his personal space and her interruption, she smiled sheepishly and started walking again as she listened."Ah so you like to writing screen plays." Nodding along, she sympathized. It'd be no easy feat to accomplish. "That's really sweet of you to take the time for yous sister like that. Some people wouldn't even give their siblings the time of day." It was an admirable trait.
