As for everyone else.
"I know that some of the concepts are hard to get your mind around. But we'll begin now by opening our books to chapter five." He waited for the books to open and then continued.
"The twenty four runes of the Elder Futhark are listed here, along with a few magical and divinatory meanings associated with each one. The tables you are sitting at are each made of wood and I think are rather bare. So today we're going to choose runes to carve into the tables, based on the magical associations of each rune, and activate the magic of each one, hopefully to provide beneficial effects on your learning."
Yes. They'd be carving up the furniture.
"So take a look at the list. What kind of runes do you think would be good to carve into a desk that you do schoolwork on? What kind of effects would you think might be beneficial? Put your hand up if you can see one here, and do feel free to think outside the box, there is a lot of opportunity for that. You're welcome to say a rune someone else has said, but do try to share a different magical association to that rune as well as why you think it'd be
useful." Kurumi gawked at Professor Truebridge in utter shock. She had received a very stern talking to by one of her non-magical teacher for drawing on her desk and now this man was giving them the opportunity to carve runes into their desks!? Kurumi wasn't sure if she should feel elated or in utter shock. It was like ever child's dream to deface school property and not get in trouble, or something like that.
Flipping open her textbook, Kurumi scanned the various runes to see which, if any, she would fide useful. "
Fehu would be very useful as it implies acheiving goals, fruitful endeavours, hardwork paying off. I hate to put effort into my studies only to find that they be in vain. So, Fehu would help make that effort successful." She began looking at the very first rune mentioned. "
Uruz would also be good because it would help me finish things quickly not to mention Thurisaz as it will help me with hardships and bring out the knowledge in my mind that may be locked away..." Kurumi was beginning to think that all the runes in the textbook could be useful. "
Ansuz could protect me from any colds my classmates may have. If someone were to cough on a quill and then I borrowed it, Ansuz could ward off the illness for example." Kurumi scanned the rest of the page. "
Professor, if there was no limit as to how many runes one may use, I think one could find every single one of these useful." Could she carve all of them into her desk? It would make for a very intricate design.

Seeing as she had grown up doing things the non-magical way, Kurumi wasn't too keen on using a chisel to etch each run into her desk. Still, if others were interested in seeing a demonstration, she wouldn't take that away from them. Personally, she would rather learn the magical way. "
Professor, both would probably be useful to learn just in case, you know, we are without our wands for some reason."
Better safe than sorry.
