And I really have no proof that something bad happened. My dad owled me right at the start of summer and said that our trip would have to be delayed because my mum was under the weather... then the letters got shorter and mum wouldn't answer me at all... and then nothing. Not even from my grandmum and gradfather. I went searching and it is like they just vanished. I might be crazy... but I might be right. I can't go to authority with maybes and I thinks," she explained with a furrowed brow. It all made her head go wonky trying to think about it. "Maybe they decided they didn't want me around anymore. Wouldn't be the first time, you know."
She smiled softly, but it didn't quite touch her eyes, as he tucked the hair behind her ear. "I appreciate your friendship, Sabel. I think it's high time I just walk away from the nonsense and... I don't know. Perhaps it would be better to start fresh somewhere else? I mean, I know some people in France now. Including Monique. I wouldn't be alone," she made it all a sort of question. She really wanted Sabel's opinion on the matter. He didn't really understand what she was telling him. Her parents were bad but they were going to take her on a trip? Getting the Auror's involved would only cause more problems than it was worth due to their use of the Dark Arts? He understood that no matter what, parents were parents, but he couldn't keep the question that had been prodding at his mind from leaving his lips. "If...your parents are...as they are, why would you want to go back to them? To find them?" Especially if her dad scared her so much? The concept of family made sense, but this seemed just strange.
With a heavy sigh, he rested his head back and watched the flames lap at the logs of the fires. "Fresh starts are always good, providing you are not running from anything." Slowly he turned his eyes back to Lexi, giving her a soft smile. "What you run from, will always catch up with you. Trust me, I know. But you have to do what's right for you. There will be drama anywhere you go, it's a part of life. How we chose to handle it, and react to it determines how much it affects you and shapes you." He wasn't going to, couldn't, tell her what to do one way or another. That was a choice she had to make and which he would support either way. That was his duty, as her friend.
