Derian was taken completely aback by Selina's words, but he did not have enough time to process and respond to them because of Chris's arrival. Nevertheless, he smiled at them both, "Yes, things are going roughly, Selina," He spoke vaguely enough that Chris would not be privy to the conversation that he wanted very much to continue with Selina, "and Chris, you just missed a girl trying to give me a love potion." He resolved, though, to get over his anger. He did not like the ferocity of the sentiment at all, and he was eager at the prospect of having another non-family member he could talk to. "Thank you both for your consideration." He managed to keep most of his emotions out of his voice, and he even finagled a weak smile to reiterate his determination at least, if not his good cheer.

He was glad Chris had managed to find him before he went to find her. And, again, Selina's news had done much to put the unpleasantness from just before well on its way out of his thoughts. "Please, Chris, this is Selina. Selina, this is Chris. I hate to be a bother, but could the two of you give me some distraction from my thoughts?" Sheepishly, he ran a hand through his hair.
