Having discovered that the Practice Pitch was open for casual flying, Vashti did not hesitate to run down to the broomshed and borrow a school broom. This was one of the things she'd actually missed about Hogwarts over the summer, and she couldn't wait to lose herself and her problems for awhile in the air. It would warm her up for Quidditch tryouts when they came too.
She quickly mounted her broom and kicked off the ground, relishing the rush of air that passed as she rose into the air. She tilted the handle of the broom a little so she could get a bit higher then leaned forward to gain speed. The first big, genuine smile in months crossed her lips as she felt the wind rush past her and blow her hair out behind her, feeling like she was reuniting with a long lost friend. Yes, this was what she had missed most.
If only she had some Quidditch equipment and people to play with, this would probably be the best day she'd had in a long time.
Fantastic, she thought. First official practice and she scored her first hit. whipping past the goal flying around the post she briefly passed someone new.
"THINK FAST!" she yelled in hopes she would hear her. She knew there weren't too many supplies left because when she got there a lot of them were gone.
