As you end the conversation every time when I start saying things that perhaps you don't want to hear." Drawing up his hands, he held them in front of himself in self defense. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not picking apart what you are saying or making you out to be the 'bad guy'. I'm stating a fact we both know is true."

When she took a step back, he watched her with sharp eyes, wondering if she was going to turn and leave and consider this conversation over. "I don't twist your words Lexi, I perceive them and I did apologize if it was a wrong perception. But how about this? You stop putting words in my mouth and emotions in my heart, you stop assuming why I am angry at you and if I am still angry at you, stop thinking you know me so well as to know my thoughts and maybe you'll see that I've never been a damn thing but open with you. Every time you ask me about these matters I tell you straight up, but for some reason you think I'm holding something back. I can assure you, you would know if I was. I have told you everything with all the truth I can muster so saying anything else at this point would just be repeating myself and I really don't see the point of it when you don't care to actually listen to what I say."

The neutrality remained as he continued to watch her, never breaking his gaze from her. "I am curious Lexi, and perhaps you can explain this to me, how a man who ridicules a staff member you have known for five years can gain your complete and undying trust in every word he says and every intention he has, while a friend who is willing to give his life for you cannot gain even a fraction of that trust. Please, explain to me how that works." Because more than anything at the moment, that stung. Badly.
