Max often feels neglected by his busy parents, but he enjoys the time he does spend with them. He has become very independent from spending most of his time on his own. His love for animals and Quidditch both came as a result of time with his parents while they're at work. Tyler and Max don't get along well. Max's father is particularly strict with him when it comes to his education, and his mother was wild about him being on the Quidditch team. His father expects him to do wonderfully with academics; his mother, originally disappointed that he didn't try out for Quidditch his first three terms, has high expectations for him to be the best Keeper in the school. His sixth term, when Max took a break from Quidditch, he decided that he needed to live for himself. He now plays Quidditch at his leisure and works hard at academics for his OWN goals and satisfaction.
Max wants to be friends with everyone, but his best friend in the whole world is Ellie Stone. He also takes a particular liking to those on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.
[ Personality ]
- Max is one of those guys that you just want to wrap in a massive hug and pinch his cheeks because he's so sweet. He channels his own low self-esteem and transforms it into positive encouragement toward others. He has a big heart and values friendship above all else. Seriously - he really wants to be friends with everyone.
Still, Max's massive self-esteem issues are a huge burden. Far too often he worries that he is not good enough - in school, Quidditch, friendships, anything. He doesn't want to disappoint anyone and has a crippling fear that he will fail. As he is a people-pleaser, he also avoids conflict and strives for harmony. Because he thinks he will make a fool of himself, he hates being the center of attention. Though his insecurities are great, he hides them well; it is very rare that one would see him upset or angry. He is very levelheaded around others and finds joy in being kind to everyone.
[ Good things ]
- Max is a big fan of Quidditch, as he grew up watching his mum play. He also shares his father's love for magical creatures. In his spare time, one can find Max with his nose behind a book - usually reading for fun when he should be studying. Though Max may not have a huge group of friends, his friends mean the world to him. He may be socially awkward and prefer time alone, but the thought of new friends makes him smile. He also has an obnoxious sweet tooth. If you ever want someone to accompany you to Honeydukes, Max is your guy. He would probably be so excited by the idea that he'll buy for you, too.
[ Bad things ]
- His biggest fear is being singled out in a crowd, which makes his usual position as Keeper a bit unfortunate for him, but he's learning to cope with it. Mostly. (His collapse before the championship match his fifth term is the only exception to his good coping methods. Just a casual case of fifth year burnout. No big deal.) When something means a lot to him, such as Quidditch or his best friends, it can bring out the worst in him. Though he wouldn't act on his adrenaline, he can become overly defensive when any of his friends are threatened in any way. He would do anything to protect and care for the people he loves, even if that means stepping out of his comfort zone to stand up against someone. Despite his love for animals, he has an irrational fear of airbourne birds - particularly owls.
