Seventh-Floor Corridor

Because the seventh floor is the gateway to Hogwarts' biggest towers, you can expect to access quite a bit of the castle from here. The most notable areas that this corridor provides passage to are the Owlery, Astronomy Tower, Divination Tower, the common rooms for both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, and, if you know where to look, the Room of Requirement. Sweeping views of the Quad below are available thanks to a series of large windows.

After stepping onto the seventh-floor corridor, a statue of Lachlan the Lanky immediately greets you. There really isn't anything overly special about him, but one can hide behind him and not be easily found if you're playing hide-and-go-seek or are just wanting to completely avoid someone. A renowned tapestry and numerous portraits, ranging from a mother and her baby, various wildlife animals, and the chivalrous Sir Cadogan adorn the walls. The latter portrait, should you ever need help getting around, is always eager to assist those who are, allegedly, in distress.

Heath was in a huge rush! He had completely forgotten about the book he'd checked out at the library weeks ago... and it was due back today! He checked his watch... he still had a bit of time before the library closed for the day. Slowing his pace slightly, he opened the book to the page he'd marked with a scrap of parchment. He only had one chapter to go, and he had to know how the story ends before he handed it back in.

Soon the young Ravenclaw was so lost in a world of aliens, starships, and epic battles that he completely forgot about his surroundings. He meandered aimlessly down the hall, his nose buried in the book. Where was he going again?

Tom was still busy exploring the place, he had been anywhere and everywhere, or so he thought until he found out that there was a seventh floor. "How many floors are they?" He groan as he climbed the stairs again and ended up in a corridor. "This is just so crazy." He started to run down the corridor accidently bumping into something hard.

It was a strange feeling, being free from her portrait. She wasn't quite sure how it happened, but one moment she had been locked in a frame, and the next... she was standing in the corridor of the school that she had helped build so long ago. Rowena looked around, her dark hair flowing over her shoulders. One might even mistake her for her daughter, Helena, if they don't look too closely. Her skin was rather pale, after all.

The woman began walking down the corridor, her footsteps echoing through the hall. Her elegant, blue dress flowed behind her. It was curious, the whole thing. It was something she would figure out, but for now... a good walk around the castle sounded pleasant. It had been a while since she had been able to stretch her legs this much.

And then she was going to see about the academia's current state. She hoped everyone had good grades.

Being a hufflepuff, Yoyo didn't often venture this high up into the castle- except for when she was waiting for her ravenclaw or gryffindor friends. Not today, though. Today Yoyo was just hanging out, peeking around and hoping to find something cool and mysterious like others had.

Because she was sure new things had popped up, everyone had said as much and with everyone off and busy this felt like a great time to do some secret explorin'.

"Hello, Grey Lady!" Yoyo piped, spotting the spectral vision. She was so beautiful and so sad. "You look so lively today!" was that very rude to say to a day person? perhaps but it was also true and Yoyo thought that was more important in this circumstance.

Now, Yolanda Luna was not a dumb child by any means, but this interaction was bizarre- and so bizarre that it took a beat or two for her brain to properly catch up and once it did, her jaw dropped. "...er, sorry. I thought you were a ghost." She very clearly was not. But she looked just like The Grey Lady. from the pretty downturned eyes, to the long raven hair...
Yoyo shivered.

Asher was taking a short study break. Well, in actuality, it was a rather lengthy study break. What was meant to be a brief trip for a snack in the kitchens ended up in the first year getting said snack and feeling the need to wander around to get his blood flowing. He'd get back to his work ... eventually.

The concept of time had been long forgotten. The curly-haired boy wasn't sure how long he had been walking about, but he was aware that he was up on the seventh floor. It wasn't every day he was up here, so it was arguably one of the least explored places in the castle for him. During his time turning corner after corner, he had come across some pretty cool things -- that painting of some dude making trolls dance, a portrait of another random guy who seemed to like talking to himself a bunch, and so on and so on.

But the time had come to get back to all that studying he had to do, so he started to make his way back to the staircase. He didn't make it very far, however. There before him was a fellow Housemate and a really pretty lady that seemed vaguely familiar but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Hi, Yolanda," Asher said to the Hufflepuff with a smile. He then turned to the woman. "And hello, Miss. I like your dress." It was very fancy shmancy and blue.

I hope you don't mind another..

Chloe was coming back from a very frustrating day. She was frustrated about her own thoughts about boys, frustrated with Gunnar, and just frustrated with some of her homework. She needed the pitch cleaned so she could use it and that wasn't happening either. So her head was down and she was starting to fall into self-pity when she heard talking up ahead.

At first, she didn't really pay attention, she could just get passed them and head the rest of the way down the corridor, but glancing up she stopped. Frozen to the spot as she recognized the person the students were talking to, but how, how was she here?

"You... you are..." words needed to come to Chloe, but she was so awestruck that Rowena Ravenclaw was standing there in front of them, but how? She looked at the two students and almost at a whisper, "how... how did you bring her here?" What kind of magic did they know that she didn't? They were younger so they wouldn't have been able to, could they?

Rowena_Ravenclaw 01-25-2020 08:08 PM

Rowena was pleased to find the castle in.. decent shape. From her portrait, she too had seen it decline after everyone abandoned the castle for a year. She wondered if anyone would ever return. She did enjoy solitude, but it had been quite boring.

When a student finally appeared in the hall, Rowena didn't pay too much attention to them... until they called her the Grey Lady, a name she knew had been given to her daughter, the Ravenclaw ghost. Rowena paused her walk and gave the child a good look, not nearly offended, but mostly curious. She supposed staying locked in a frame might make one look like a ghost, too.

"Have you seen her?" Rowena asked calmly. The Grey Lady? Perhaps it was time they had a chat.

And that was when another student appeared in the hallway. He appeared to be wandering rather aimlessly, as if he didn't have any studying to attend to. Quite wrong, she was sure.

Miss?

He called her Miss. Did no one know who she was? Did no one READ their textbooks?

Rowena had half a mind to scold them and send them to their common rooms to study. But that was when yet another aimless wanderer came about. Merlin's Beard, did no one care about their grades?! Well, at least this student knew who she was! Someone had done her reading. But it was quite preposterous that she thought that one of the other children had conjured her up.

Rowena scoffed. "Please. You think one of them has the ability to bring me out of my portrait?" Truth be told, Rowena wasn't sure how she got out anyway, but if anyone was going to be given credit for the magic at hand, it would be her.

"Don't you all have studying to do? Hmm? Quit lollygagging." And then she waved her hand at them to shoo them away. Perhaps she needed to have a word with the Headmaster about the manners of his students. AND their clear lack of desire to educate themselves.

Chloe was still shocked to see her house founder standing in front of her. Her head was a bit foggy as she tried to make sense of how she got here. She didn't look like a ghost, but how... her eyes went to the portrait and then the woman's voice confirmed it.

"No ma'am I don't think they could, but how did you get out?" She was still in awe as she moved closer. "It is a pleasure to meet you though ma'am, I've learned all about you being that I'm in Ravenclaw."

A frown did form as she started to shoo them and talk about them studying. "I was coming back from class and headed to the dorm." She couldn't speak for the others, but she had been actually going somewhere.

Samia 01-29-2020 10:26 AM

hellooo. we want to play toooo.

UM.

Missa had been heading to class when she she came across the tiny commotion - one with Rowena Ravenclaw????

Wait, were people still celebrating halloween? It sure seemed like it - or why would Chloe be talking so casually with the woman?

Curious as ever, the brunette approached them, which was also when she heard about someone bringing the woman out of her portrait - WHAT?

UM.

"Unless headmaster Trent got you out of there, I am sure he is going to flip" she commented, eying the empty portrait, "by the way, hello, I am Missa" - school shenanigans aside, manners were still a thing - especially when you were front of one of the founders of the school.

Rowena_Ravenclaw 01-30-2020 04:28 AM

My, my, these children were rather chatty, weren't they? And, oh look, another Ravenclaw was joining them. She couldn't get after them too much for being curious - she did encourage curious minds, but Rowena herself was still trying to figure out how this had happened. That was when the new girl mentioned the Headmaster. "Yes, I think I'd like to have a word with him," the woman said, smoothing her sleeves down absently.

At any rate, everyone was lingering too long. "Now, run along, children. I'm sure you all have a lot of studying to do. I'm going to find the Headmaster." and with that, Rowena moved past the small cluster of students and continued on her route down the corridor.

Bazinga 01-30-2020 04:03 PM

She wasn't sure why the two younger students went quiet but Chloe wasn't going to mess up the opportunity to meet the one and only Rowena Ravenclaw, even if she was a portrait come to life, she was still Rowena and that was amazing. It wasn't until Missa came up that something clicked in her mind, "Maybe it wasn't the headmaster, maybe with all the things that happened with the mist that the castle was reenergized and was so strong it started making portraits more powerful as well. "

She couldn't figure out how, but here anything was possible. Too soon the founder was leaving and she looked at Missa and the others before stepping closer. "Excuse me, Miss Ravenclaw, if you would like we could help you find the headmaster, I mean if no one else Missa here is our perfect so she could." Not that Chloe wanted to give this opportunity away, but she didn't have the badge, her friend did, and it was only appropriate to allow her to her job as prefect.
