As you walk along the fifth-floor corridor and pass by a statue of a man with his gloves on the wrong hands, you see a series of identical-looking doors. The fourth door to the left of the statue looks no different from the rest. However, those that try it will find that they cannot open the door. A simple Alohomora will not make the door budge, so carry on with the rest of your day ... unless you happen to know the password, of course.

Only prefects and Quidditch captains know the password (Lather, Rinse, Repeat) to get this door to creak open and reveal a shiny marble-floored bathroom. Toilet stalls and a shelf containing towels and swimwear take up one side of the room whereas the other contains a set of couches, a coffee table, and a wizarding wireless. Many, however, often find themselves heading straight for the enormous, swimming pool-like tub in the centre of the room. The large tub fills up remarkably fast due to the many taps surrounding it. If you plan on staying here for a while, you might as well add some bubbles.

Don't mind the portrait of the mermaid -- she just likes showing off and flirting with the boys.

One perk of being Head Boy that Ronan was eager to check out was the Prefect's Bathroom. So, here he was, in his bathrobe and carrying a gym bag filled with extra clothes and his myriad of grooming supplies (and still literally glowing green from last night's welcome party to boot). Checking first one direction then the other to make sure no one was coming, he whispered the password and entered the opening door, making sure to close it behind him.

"Whoa!" It wasn't that he hadn't seen fancy bathrooms before. But this was fancier than what he was expecting, really. Marble floors, couches that would fit his whole body and then some if he should choose to lay down, extra towels and swimsuits, a wizarding wireless and the iconic swimming pool-sized tub filled the room, though not enough to make it seem crowded.

He was going to head for the tub, but took a detour to the couches instead. Grabbing the wireless from the table, he sat on a couch, fiddling with the knobs until he found a station that played muggle songs. Old muggle songs to be sure, but that was fine with him. He could appreciate old-school music. In fact, the one playing was one of his favorites. He lay back on the couch and kicked his feet in the air (don't worry ladies, he had his swim trunks on!) over and over while singing along. Loudly. "Are you listening? Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! Sing it back! Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! So tell me what do I need (TELL ME WHAT DO I NEED)?! WHOA OH, WHOA OH! WHEN WORDS LOSE THIER MEANING! (WHEN WORDS LOSE THIER MEANING!) WHOA OH, WHOA OH!" Needless to say he was thrashing around now like a hipster at Coachella.

If anyone came in at this point, it would surely end in the Head Boy blushing like crazy. Not that anyone would be able to tell, human glow stick as he was now.

To be sure, if she'd heard that ruckus before uttering the password and stepping through the entrance, Jessa Cambridge would've turned and headed right back to her lab. She didn't make a habit of visiting the Prefect bathroom while others were around--she didn't avoid it per say but given the choice, she tended to pick times that didn't clash. Of course, this term there were a new set of Prefects whose times she would need to learn. Until that happened...she suspected she would have more of these...walk in....sessions.

"Uh...." Did she say something....? Did she just...turn and leave...? Would he even had heard her entrance over the sound of his own...er...vocals...?

Slowly the bag slipped from her shoulder to the spot by her foot but for now she remained just beyond the door. Maybe she'd just not say anything at all. Jessa made her way across the bathroom, blue eyes occasionally drifting back to the Head Boy. With some luck he wouldn't even notice he had company and they could avoid the inevitably awkward revelation.

Was he always like this?

In fact, he had not heard Jessa enter the bathroom at all. As far as the Head Boy knew, he was still alone in the room. So, the thrashing and loud singing continued, even as the song on the wireless changed. Something even older than the previous one, but still loved by Ronan. His voice changed to a more plaintive, but no less loud, tone. "See the stone set in your eyes, see the thorn twist in your side, I wait for you. Sleight of hand and twist of fate, on a bed of nails he makes me wait. And I wait, without you....... with or without you oh, with or without you ohh. Through the storm, we reach the shore, you give it all but I want more. With or without you, with or without you, I can't live...." And that's about the time he realized he wasn't alone in the room anymore. He saw movement in the corner of his eye and his sense of embarrassment or shame or whatever it was kicked in, causing him to go first as white as a sheet, then red as a tomato. Not that whoever it was could tell and thank goodness. "How much of that did you hear..?" he asked, more to determine who the other person in the room was, seeing as he couldn't see them with his eyes closed, than anything. And to help determine if he was going to have to figure out how to use Obliviate.

Oh Merlin there was another song. How many did that wireless plan to play?

The Sixth Year moved over to another set of couches just a ways off, her bag now levitating closely behind. Reading was out of the question while he was singing at the top of his lungs. A swim was out of the question for the fact she didn't entirely wanna go changing into a swimsuit with him laying there--think how much more awkward it would be when he finally realized she was there. It was just better for them both if she kept her clothes on.

Come to think of it, a lot of things were out of the question, save staring at him and wondering if he planned to go much higher. The walls in here were sound proof but that did very little for her sitting on the inside.

Finally, he did notice but oddly enough, it wasn't quite the awkward reveal she'd been anticipating. With him now substantially quieter, Jessa reached into her book bag at her own leisure and fished out her copy of dragonology she'd found in the Common Room. She kicked her feet up, in no particular hurry to answer his question. Instead, she got comfortable and pried the book open to her current page. "Depends. How much of it did you want me to hear?" Her voice dragged with an air of disinterest, an indication she was already prepared to put it all behind them.

Okay, just how long was the person going to bloody wait?! This was only serving to heighten his anxiety, seeing as he really couldn't rule anyone out and he refused to open his eyes until he knew who this person was and he could come up with a good explanation for the whole situation. Oh god, just answer already. He heard the rustling of material, so he knew the person was still here.

What if the person now torturing him mercilessly was Flynn.....no, can't go down that road. Though, it would be a move he would expect from the Slytherin prefect.

Finally, the person spoke, causing an exhalation of breath that Ronan didn't even know he was holding. "Ideally, none of it," he replied, opening his eyes. "But you hearing it isn't as bad certain others doing so." For so many reasons.

None? What a coincidence, she could do none. The Ravenclaw was as willing as she assumed he was to pretend this whole ordeal never happened. Except. "D'you always go singing loudly in the shower rooms?" Deftly her fingers turned page after page in search of her last spot. "Never pegged you for the sort."

He was right though, her hearing was exponentially less threatening than almost anyone else. She had no real need for this information and had never been inclined to blackmail. Besides that, it didn't really seem like something blackmail worthy and she'd never had need where Ronan was concerned. Flynn Kowlaski he was not, making him okay in her book.

"Didn't peg you for the silly sort at all in truth." Pause. "Why're you green?" Hadn't run into too many Gryffindors today (intentionally)

"Not in the shower, no." How some people did that when the possibility of accidentally swallowing shampoo or soap when doing so was so high, he didn't know. "But it sometimes helps when I have a lot on my mind." Unfortunately, it hadn't helped today at all. In fact, it may have only made things worse, and not because he'd gotten caught.

Hadn't pegged him for the silly sort, hmm. "I can be silly, sometimes." Mostly around people he knew well. As for the green... "Let's just say that while Kryptonite punch may sound like a brilliant idea for a superhero theme party, it's not." Totally hairbrained idea on his part, and he would admit to it, too.

Was it just her or had everyone started the year trying to clear their heads? Merlin, she thought she had a lot to think of but judging by the sounds of things maybe her anxiety was on a more normal level than she'd ever given it credit for being. If so many people were generally preoccupied with thoughts they needed to clear then surely there was some curved scale which made it more likely she could be in the middle ~~or not, she was pretty aware she'd more likely fall to one end of it~~. "NEWT stuff?" What she suspected most Seventh Years would be stewing on from the get go. "Or is it more along the lines of personal stuff you're trying to figure how best to tackle." Naturally she had questions. Jessa always had questions. It was one of her favourite ways to interact with the world around her. Always guaranteed she'd walk away with new information.

Like....this kryptonite punch, for example. That was pretty....pretty Gryffindor sounding admittedly. "I take it at least half the house is green then. Not a nice look for loyalty." Any Slytherin with a unhealthy ego would be having a field day with this until it passed and depending on the Gryffindor this could either fade on its own or escalate into things that led to detention.

Merlin was she glad it wouldn't be her problem to sort out.

"How silly does your silly go?" Because no, she hadn't gotten off that yet. It was a new concept for her. Of course, she didn't know much about the boy in general so many things would be a new concept for her but that didn't affect her level of curiosity in the slightest.

He hadn't expected follow up questions from the Ravenclaw prefect, though maybe he should've. Not that he minded any. If she got too personal, he'd just say something. "Nah, not NEWTs." Way too early for that. He never understood why people started stressing about those tests from the start of term. Made the term less enjoyable in his opinion. "Just something that happened on the train."

"Probably. I actually didn't see how many drank it. Totally my idea, it sounded like a good idea at the time..." But, live and learn, he supposed. And he knew most of the Gryffindors could handle themselves in any kind of teasing situation they might find themselves in. And if not, they knew where to find him.

"Pretty silly." Ronan wasn't really sure how to quantify silly. Like, something that one person thought was silly could be completely 'meh' to another.

So, sorry house elves, there was a healthy trail of mud lining the corridors and stairs leading up to the prefects bathroom. The cause? One Derfael Mitchell Ashburry-Hawthorne. Which would likely come to no one's surprise considering how the fifth year was. Today's little adventure out on the grounds had included a little dip in the lake, well a JUMP into the lake rather, and he had found a wounded grindylow that had latched on to his leg and then he had tried to wrestle with it in some of the shallow waters - hence the mud - and had almost caught it and had these ambitious dreams about keeping it in the prefects bathroom and caring for it. It was a dream he and Hazel had had as first years and now that he was a fifth year and more trained in creature handling, well, he was sure he coulda handled this.

Only the grindylow had gotten away. Sad.

So, discouraged and looking and SMELLING like the Swamp Thing...he whispered the password and pushed opened the great doors to the bathroom with ever intent of taking a nice hot and long bubble bath.

...........and found Jessa and Ronan already inside.

Now, OTHER times he had poked his head in here and found a boy and a girl in here...together...they were usually, well, they certainly were not discussing the weather or the latest History of Magic assignment. Let's just leave it at that.

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh....hi?"

Jessa was about 2 seconds from asking what had happened on the train, her lips had even parted but just as the words hit the back of her throat, she swallowed them leaving nothing more than a somewhat audible, strangled noise. Mind your own business Cambridge. Were the roles reversed, she wouldn't necessarily have wanted to share anything that made her actively try to clear her mind so she figured Ronan wouldn't either. Common courtesy dictated not asking questions she wouldn't herself want to be asked.

"I'm sure it was, depending on what the idea was meant to be." If it was to get a bunch of hyped up Gryffindor energizer bunnies even more hyped up with metaphoric concepts related to superheroes then regardless of the outcome, it'd probably been successful. "I'm sure they appreciated it at least."

His silly comment was more along the lines of something she didn't think was prying. That being the case, she could further question it...or she was going to....until the door swept open and a certain Hufflepuff walked in. The Ravenclaw readjusted the book on her lap, sticking a finger between the pages so she wouldn't lose her spot again. "Hey Derf--What'd've you been up to? You look like you took a dive in the Weasley swamp." Kinda smelled like it too. Anything she'd take interest in?

"Did you know that Ronan sings at the top of his lungs when he thinks no one's around?" Surely she wasn't the only one unfamiliar with his silly side.

Or maybe she was.

Huh.

Before the conversation could go any further, the door opened and revealed a very dirty Derfael. It was pretty easy for the Gryffindor to figure out why that was. Something to do with a creature, no doubt. Though, why he smelled like a swamp, that was harder to figure. As far as Ronan knew, there were no swamps on Hogwarts grounds aside from the Weasley one on this very floor. And that one didn't have any creatures in it that he knew of.

Wait, what!? Okay, this wasn't exactly a secret that was particularly devastating. Plus, he had sung in front of people before (see last term's production of Wizard of Oz), but still. Though, he wasn't actually mad that Jessa had decided to blurt it out so casually. No, he was just running through the various repercussions in his mind now. "Or cooking. Sometimes." Now, why did he have to go and add that!? Nice move, Carter.

Okay. Not as awkward now that both of them were talking. And the smelling like a swamp was more of an expression - though there was a stench about him. Only natural, not like rolling around in the mud and whatever else left one smelling like daisies.

"Uuuuuuuuh...there was this grindylow...was trying to help it but got away......" he replied somewhat sheepishly. "I...um...erm...kinda came here to, you know, clean up and take a bubble bath..." Derf then moved to ruffle his hair, but doing so only resulted in him flicking mud and grit every which way much like a dog shaking itself off of water.

"Well...we were in the musical last term," he chuckled at Jessa's news delivery. "He really belt it out on stage so..." Derf wasn't too terribly surprised by this.

Term had barely begun; she hadn't even properly gotten the stench associated with quidditch sweat on her and already Skylar felt overwhelmed. Bad omens, maybe? But she'd survived six years of Hogwarts so what was one more, right? Apparently her extra course work and uni applications and researching and quidditch strategizing had something else to say on the matter.

Which is why a nice long bubble bath sounded good about now. Only, it probably wouldn't be THAT long before she remembered the millions of things on her task list, but as she muttered the code for the prefect's bathroom and stepped inside, hearing talking? The seventh year captain realized it probably wouldn't be very long at all.

"Uhhh.... Hiiiiii..." Hey, they were complete now, with one from each house? Whatever that meant. She just hoped she wasn't interrupting.

Nailed it. Though, trying to catch a grindylow? Weren't they Dark creatures? And not really receptive to humans at all? Yeah, Ronan wasn't going comment on his judgment on this one. Mostly because he hated it when people did the same to him. Also because of the mud that his hair ruffling was flicking around.

And then they were joined by another person. Still not the person he'd been dreading, but one associated with said person. Which meant that Ronan would have to be a bit more careful in what he said from here on out, least anything get back to HIM. "Hello, Skylar."

He was totally going to petition Headmistress Hawthorne for shower stalls in here. Because while he had no problem sharing in a hot tub-type situation, this was obviously NOT that and he didn't want to stew in others filth.

Seventh year had been fun so far. She was enjoying it. Harriet had yet to venture up to the prefects bathroom now. She'd been in there before of course. She'd have been silly to not have taken advantage of the connections she had. But now she had a badge herself, she had her own right to go into the bathroom. She was looking forward to taking a nice long soak in the bath. She'd, of course though, brought her swim suit, as she knew that there were other members of the student leadership team that might want to use the bathroom, and she wasn't that mean to want it all to herself. If she'd just wanted a normal bath or shower she'd have used the facilities in her common room, but she wanted a nice, long, relaxing bath in the pool sized one. So. Here she was. She whispered the password, and strolled on in.

"Oh...." She hadn't expected there to be this many people here. Had she missed the memo about some sort of meeting in the prefects bathroom. If so, it was a very strange place to all be gathering. "Uh... Hi I guess?" Hmm. Very interesting.

"Well yeah, I know he was in the play but that doesn't necessarily mean he belts things in his spare time." The two weren't exactly in some causative relationship. "I don't...and I don't think you do either." Not as far as she knew. Singing on stage was one thing, it was a part of a performance and a requirement. Doing it just because you had a vibe for it was more along the lines what she was getting at.

But hang on. "Cooking too?" Her eyes widened just a little with wonder. "You're full of surprises today, aren't you?" Er...well...surprises for her anyway. Derf seemed a little more acquainted with the now Head Boy than she was. "What sorts of food d'you like to cook." Again, she just never pegged him for the sort.

Jessa glanced up toward the door only a brief moment as first Skylar then Hattie walked in. Mentally, she made the note to avoid this time in future. Of course, she didn't think they would be showing up at this specific time everyday but people had habits they tended to fall into so around this time would be what she was avoiding. Nothing personal, the Ravenclaw just wasn't as social as others were....and when she came to the Prefect's Bathroom, it was usually to unwind in a place she was significantly less likely to run into the majority of the school. It wasn't really a time when she craved interaction and the anxiety that came with it.

"Hey." She returned, already resigned to the fact she wouldn't be getting her readings done. "D'you make sundaes and desserts too?" Directing her attention back to Ronan as they'd already been in the middle of pealing away some of his layers.

With a loud *pop* Pips appeared into the Prefects’ Bathroom. Pips didn’t like to clean, but if he was forced to clean bathrooms, at least it was the Prefects’ bathroom. Dragging the heavy bucket Pips began to scrub the sinks at the far end.

“So much cleaning so much cleaning, Pips want to dance.” Pips sang as he scrubbed down more of the sinks hoping that Toddles wasn’t causing any trouble around the castle. “No Pips in trouble.” he mumbled under his breath with a loud *hiccup* at the end.
