Default Battlements

High above overlooking the lake and a section of the grounds are the castle battlements. During the Battle of Hogwarts, the battlements where used to defend the school from Lord Voldemort and his allies. This is also where Sirius Black rode away on Buckbeak the hippogriff, but keep that hush hush. Though some damage remains, the battlements remain fairly intact and provide an opportune place to be when an enemy is approaching.

Though there hasn't been a full-blown battle at Hogwarts for many years, the battlements nonetheless provide a nice view from a high vantage point. More often than not, the Giant Squid can be seen bathing himself in the sunlight; thestrals (if you can see them) fly above the trees at the edge of the lake; and if you look closely you'll be able to follow the road that leads to the Entrance Gates. If you're feeling up to climbing the tight spiral staircase to get there, know that it is worth the effort. There are wooden crates and barrels for you to sit on at the top should you need to catch your breath.

Deep breath.

It had taken Daehyun a while to climb up the spiral staircase that led to the battlements, but he knew he'd be rewarded once he arrived on top. It was dawn, so the sky was painted in rich shades of purple, red, and pink, darkening with each passing minute as the sun was beginning to hide and make way for the moon. It was his favourite time of the day, so being up there rewarded him with a great view of the school grounds.

He walked to the side of the battlements, tracing his fingers over the damaged bits that had remained there ever since the legendary Battle of Hogwarts while waiting for Shera to arrive. Burying his nose against the wind into the crimson and gold scarf he'd bundled around his neck, he leaned forward against one of the pillars and rested his elbows on it, his head propped in the palms of his hands as he admired the view.

Shera was running late.

Mainly because she'd forgotten that, even though the Battlements were on the sixth floor, they really weren't that close. Especially when the staircases moved. All things considered, she thought she'd done pretty well.

A small backpack was slung over the girls shoulders, which she was pretty sure that Daehyun would recognise it as her snack bag. Because he honestly couldn't expect her to leave it behind. Unlike him, she wasn't wearing uniform anymore. But she was in theme wearing a thick blue sweater with grey gloves and a scarf.

She beamed at him as she caught sight of him, glad that he hadn't just left instead of waiting for her. "Daehyun! How are you?"

He'd caught her on a good day this time.

Daehyun had been focused on the Forbidden Forest as he waited for Shera, completely losing track of time. He thought he'd spotted something unusually bright in the darkness of the forest, and- there it was! Oh, what wouldn't he give to see one of those pure creatures up close! He'd read about herds roaming in the forest, but the Forbidden Forest was obviously forbidden...

His head snapped to the side upon hearing her voice and, in his excitement, he failed to process her question as he beamed at her. "Shera! Come here, quickly," he urged her to join him on the edge of the battlements, and pointed towards the Forbidden Forest where she might still catch a glimpse of the white horse he'd spotted. "See that?"

Well. White horse. Wink wink, nudge nudge. Hehe.

After another round of late-night studying, Jace decided to try something that he's never done before: break the curfew. First of all, there was no way he'd be able to get a shut-eye. The after effects of studying for him was like that of watching a mind-blowing movie. Second, after spending six years in Hogwarts, he'd not dared to live a little. Bless his Gryffindor peers. But perhaps, now is the chance. Maybe, those who have authority over him wouldn't mind him out and about, yes? Besides, he's more than equipped now should something, or someone decided to attack him while everyone's sound asleep.

Determined to take on this task, Jace quietly put on layers of clothing and made sure that his wand was securely under his left sleeve. He snuck out of his dorm room as stealthily as a ninja would and walked into the shadows as a precaution. It didn't take him long to reach the battlements, his new favourite thinking and meditation spot, and took a quick check if anyone else had the same idea as him. Seeing that he was alone, he let out a soft sigh and positioned himself in one of the crenels and stared at the vast expanse of space before him. He could feel his quick heartbeat through his layers of clothing and took slow deep breaths to calm himself down.

Shera had rushed over, mainly because she knew that it would probably be something amazing. It was definitely going to be a creature of some description. And somehow in less than a year Daehyun had won her over in all aspects that came to creatures.

It was only her love of Threstrals that couldn't be traced back to him. Her eyes gazed over the forrest before she frowned lightly, shaking her head. "What did you see?"

But she perked up quickly because she actually had news for him. And it wasn't going to be about creatures that he might not catch a glimpse of. "Hey Daehyun, guess what!?"

She waited all of a moment, before realising she was too impatient for him to actually guess. "You're looking at one of the Ravenclaw chasers!!!"

Shera had immediately ended up bouncing on her toes in the excitement of remembering seeing her name on the noticeboard, stating that she was one of the players. Now the boy across from her had time to prepare his Ravenclaw pom poms.

Oh, no, she missed the beauty! "I think I saw one of the unicorns roaming the forest," he said, remembering the flash of white he'd spotted in the darkness of the Forbidden Forest. He made a mental note to keep an eye out in case he spotted one again to show Shera. "I wish we could go in there." And yes, he wanted to encounter an acromantula in his lifetime, too, but maybe it would be wiser to wait a few years until he could actually protect himself from one... of a whole colony of them.

... then she suddenly turned very enthusiastic, and before he had the time to question it or make a guess, she'd already told him in her excitement, and soon he joined her in bouncing lightly on his feet.

SHE MADE THE QUIDDITCH TEAM! "That's amazing, oh my!" And a Chaser? She wanted to be a Chaser! "Congratulations!" he said and, before he knew what he was doing, he moved in to hug her and-

HE WAS ABOUT TO HUG HER WHAT WAS HE DOING?!

As realization hit him, he pulled back slowly and hesitantly, suddenly finding it difficult to meet her eyes. Why didn't he have a filter and an ounce of self-control? "Sorry, I-I thought I saw a-a doxy-behind you." A doxy. Really, Daehyun? A doxy? He was hopeless, and even he had realized that. "I-err-I'll-" oh, Merlin, save him, "I'll get my blue face paint and pom-poms ready," he blurted out, praying that his lack of second thoughts was already forgotten. Please, let it be forgotten.

A unicorn?

She had managed to miss seeing a unicorn? She pouted slightly, her eyes scanning over the forest in case the creature decided to come back. "Maybe the groundskeeper or Professor Wayland would take us in if we have a convincing case..." she would get to work on formulating that case as soon as she has a spare minute.

"And if they say no we could always do it anyways..." she gave him a mischievous grin, before it turned to a contemplative look. "... but maybe we should wait until just before we graduate.... between being able to defend ourselves and them not being able to do much when we're already done..."

Maybe she should have been a Slytherin instead of a Ravenclaw?

Shera giggled excitedly, both her own excitement of her position, her excitement at sharing her news and her excitement at how excited Daehyun was for her. She was certain that he was about to go for a hug, and was entirely prepared to hug back, before he awkwardly pulled back.

Had she been wrong? A doxy? She spun around trying to catch sight of the other creature. Somehow she'd also managed to miss that one though.... she was just having a bad creature spotting day apparently. She pouted lightly as she turned back to Daehyun.

She giggled again though at the thought of him in Ravenclaw colours with pom poms. "I'll make sure to look for you in the crowd. Can't have my one person fan club going unnoticed."

She did appreciate his support though.

Ask professor Wayland! Why has that never crossed his mind? "Maybe he would take us! Since we'd be safe with him." But who knew what beings hid deep within the forest, maybe one adult wouldn't suffice. He supposed it was forbidden for a good reason. Then he'd listened to Shera's reasoning, and he nodded in agreement. "Better learn some defensive spells before sneaking in there." And before graduation sounded reasonable. He also didn't want to be found and lose house points, when he'd worked so hard to earn them.

Oh, no. She was turning back to look for the supposed doxy, but there's never been one in the first place- "It-err-it flew away," he muttered, awkwardly waving his hand in the air for emphasis. And praying it would all soon be forgotten.

He could feel himself blushing lightly when she said she'll look for her one-man fanclub in the crowd. "Just remember me when you're all popular and famous, yeah?" Because he imagined Quidditch players became popular by default, and maybe she would even decide to pursue it as a career later on. He would probably tour the world to see all of her matches.

"Any upcoming matches against Gryffindor? I'm only asking to know when to prepare for my untimely death when I betray my Housemates by wearing blue," he said, laughing to himself, not at all bothered by that fact. Since he was the founder and currently only member of her fanclub, he couldn't disappoint.

"I think I could talk to Professor Hirsch about getting ahead on defensive spells. He's the Ravenclaw head of house and he's super supportive of students studying ahead and helping them do that..." that was a random musing that had come over her mind and immediately found it's way through her lips. "That way we'll be prepared and if we get a teacher who is willing to go with us, then what can go wrong?"

Besides, heaps of people had gone into the Forbidden Forest and survived according to Hogwarts A History.

It couldn't be that bad, right?

"Thats a shame... first I miss the unicorn then I miss the doxy," she commented, though shrugged her shoulders. "I guess I'll have to live with the creatures in the Nursery and Barn," she smiled at the thought of all of them, and the time that they had spent cuddling the Augureys. She still needed to speak to Professor Wayland about adoption options actually...

Shera blinked at him in confusion, though she was also close to laughing at the thought of being famous and forgetting about the first person that she had met before Hogwarts. "I somehow don't think that'll be a problem we need to worry about," besides, they still didn't know whether or not she'd ever even make it as a professional player.

"My first game is against Slytherin, so you don't need to worry about that quite yet. Maybe next time," she commented jokingly. Not that they'd know for a bit longer...

But he was still willing to wear the blue colours despite risks of untimely deaths. Shera couldn't help but smile at the thought that she had managed to convince him to betray his house. She was still happy that she knew that someone would be there supporting her.

Actually supporting her, not her as part of the Ravenclaw team.

"And I'll do some research myself," he pitched in excitedly, his eyes basically glowing. Her Head of House was the DADA professor, his happened to be the Charms professor... they could both go to them for help regarding useful spells they could use if they found themselves in danger in the Forbidden Forest- which meant they needed to find a different excuse as to why they wanted to learn such things ahead, since the forest was very much forbidden. "I love the way you think," he grinned at the thought of their evil plan of evilness sneaking into the forest in the search for wonderfully deadly creatures.

Letting out the breath he'd been anxiously holding, he smiled when Shera had mentioned the nursery and the barn. "I'm sure the augureys miss you. We should go back there soon!" But maybe this time fully prepared to face the not-so-nice aspects of caring for so many creatures - cleaning after them, too. Professor Wayland would appreciate the help, wouldn't he? And maybe they could show him they were fit to adopt the augureys. Daehyun wanted a Granian, too, but that was a whole different story.

"I'll be there!" he promised, brightening up when she suggested she wouldn't forget about her first fan. "Zoryn will have my head served on a silver platter," he snorted at the thought of the Gryffindor captain seeing him cheer for Shera if they ever had a match against Ravenclaw.

Just then, a small bunch of twigs - well, that's what the small creature appeared to be at first - sneaked out from the collar of his robes, just enough to catch a glimpse of the new human, though Daehyun had gotten so used to having the little guy crawl and cling onto his clothes that he didn't even process the light movements.

Shera couldn't help but grin at the boy across from her. The boy who had originally seemed unsure about trying to get her pants to be charmed to look like a skirt and shy and afraid of rule breaking was now supporting her plans to get them into the forbidden forest before they graduated. Shera wasn't going to say she had a bad influence. Nor would she say that she had broken him except during the occasions he got flustered and looked like he wanted to die. She'd go with, helping him develop in a way that made her enjoy his company even more.

She briefly wondered whether she had changed due to his influence as well.

"Speaking of research, I haven't gotten very far with charming my pants to look like a skirt. I accidentally turned one pair invisible and now I can't remember where I put them," she commented, considering how she should probably work on her accio. But accio might just bring everyone else's pants to her rather than her currently lost invisible pair.

It also explained why she was still wearing a skirt. She was however contemplating just wandering confidently into a class wearing the boys pants
and seeing if a professor even noticed.

She brightened up at the comment about the Augureys. "Yes, we really need to go again together. I've been making quick trips there when I've had time before classes to give them a quick cuddle and some insects," she admitted. Because they had definitely won her hearts in the first moment that Daehyun had pointed them out to her.

"Zoryn?" the name sounded familiar but Shera couldn't quite place it. All she knew was that the girl in question was a Gryffindor, and she would probably be very proud of her house. Maybe she was the Prefect or the Captain? That would explain it...

Shera cooed as she caught sight of the little stick creature. She wasn't quite sure what it was but it was tiny, and clearly she had caught it's attention because she could see it looking at her. Bending over slightly to get a good look at the creature, she brushed the curls out of her face. "Aren't you cute? Are you one of Daehyun's friends?"

She didn't even about the fact that she probably looked insane to the boy in front of her.

SPOILER!!: Shera <3

Invisible pants?! He truly hoped she wasn't wearing them when that had happened, but his eyes still widened in surprise. "I could help you, unless they're in your dorm." And there was NO WAY he was getting in there. The punishment would likely be worse than that for getting caught sneaking into the Forbidden Forest. Any girl's dormitory was a big no-no. "Have you tried casting Aparecium?" It was something he'd practiced and, surprisingly, it worked for him.

... though the skirts looked fine on her. Even pretty, he thought, even though he was no fashion expert. He had the fashion sense of a blind ogre, but all in all, she looked nice. But he could understand why she'd prefer wearing pants - although he didn't know what a skirt felt like, he supposed you couldn't get too comfortable in one, so he was going to help her cast some disillusionment charm.

His face broke out into a large smile when Shera admitted she'd gone to the nursery a few times by herself. "We could ask professor Wayland if we can let the winged horses out, too!" Because he wasn't confident enough to let them out and risk having them fly away... could they even fly yet, the young ones at the nursery?

"Our team's captain," he said, laughing at the thought of the girl's face when she saw his face painted in blue. "She also happens to be a beater, so I should watch out-just in case." Wouldn't want a stray bludger aimed at his face to fix the colour on it.

... why was Shera getting closer to him...?

"Oh!" Daehyun exclaimed, catching sight of the small bowtruckle he'd befriended soon after he'd tried to claw his eyes out. "This is Berry," he said, holding his hand out for the small creature to crawl on for Shera to get a better look. And yes, he'd named the bowtruckle Berry. And the pet names he used would be Strawberry, Cranberry. He was a genius, really. Not. "I wanted to put him back on the tree that I found him on, but he wouldn't let go, so..." Who was he to say no to the gentle bowtruckle?

... even though it was the same one that had initially tried to claw his eyes out. It'd been just a misunderstanding.

... even though it was the same one that had initially tried to claw his eyes out. It'd been just a misunderstanding.

"Unfortunately they are in the dorm... and I still haven't found them. Actually that's a good idea! I'll try that when I get back up there and see if I can find them tonight..." she thought about it momentarily, before nodding as she thought of her new plan of attack. "I also meant to ask Jessa if she had any ideas on how I could make them look like pants. But maybe we could head to the library some time and take them along to see if we could work it out!"

Mental note: 1) Learn how to defend self to sneak into forbidden forest, 2) Keep working on spell to make pants look like a skirt assuming her laziness and tiredness didn't take over, there were after all assignments that had to be prioritised

"That'd actually be really good! I still haven't found any books that say when they start flying so asking him first is definitely the best option..." because Shera did not want to be responsible for a flying baby horse running away and going missing.

The curly haired brunette laughed at the thought of the Gryffindor captain aiming a bludger at a member of the audience because he had betrayed their house. She didn't quite think that Zoryn would get away with that. "I'll figure out a way to defend you while the game is still going. After that I don't think I can do much..."

She couldn't fight back the giggle at him being hunted down after the end of the game.

Her blue eyes followed the little bow truckle as it crawled onto Daehyun's hand. They briefly flickered up to Daehyun as he introduced the creature, before smiling sweetly at the little bow truckle. It was impressive that it had claimed him as it's new tree home. So she knew better than to try to move it, she'd seen a bow truckle attack someone for trying to remove it from it's tree before.

"It's nice to meet you Berry," she said. Shera was expecting it to end on one of three ways: the bow truckle would run away and hide, it would attack her to protect it's human or it would pull on her curls.

That last one happened all too often.

So the invisible pants were in her dorm, so there was no way he was getting in there, as much as he'd wanted to help Shera find them. "Do try the revealing charm, and let me know if you need help with it," he offered. "Besides," a sly grin was stretching over his lips. "Maybe you'll find other hidden things in there." And he was quite glad he wouldn't be able to witness it, because girls scared him often - he couldn't even begin to imagine what things they kept in their dormitories.

"The library it is," he nodded in agreement. "Maybe we can bribe the librarian with cookies to point us to the right books?" If not, they'd only spend more hours in there, but it wasn't something Daehyun was afraid of, because he was set on helping Shera on her mission.

Laughing at her comment, he shook his head. "You worry about the game, and I'll worry about the bludgers coming to get me." Maybe he could compromise by painting his face half red, half blue, and then both parties would be happy. But if Ravenclaw wasn't playing against Gryffindor, he was going all blue.

Daehyun watched Berry's small, beady eyes glance curiously at Shera, and reached his long fingers towards her curls, before shying away. "S'alright," he told the bowtruckle. "Shera's not going to hurt you." The little guy must have understood him because, with one look at him in the search for reassurance, Berry reached his twig-like fingers out once again to greet Shera and, if Daehyun wasn't wrong, he even wanted to crawl on her hand. The action made him giggle. "He wasn't this shy when we first met." But there was no way he was holding a grudge against the adorable bowtruckle. They were bros, after all, and it was all forgotten.

"I don't think I want to know if other things have been turned invisible and been in there forever," she responded, eyes wide as she wondered just how much might be concealed in their dorm. Anything was possible with magic. "Although... if something has been there for centuries and just appears that would be super cool. Like imagine that. Something that belonged to a student just like us a few hundred years ago that they accidentally turned invisible like I have."

Or worse, a student in a few centuries finding her pants.

That would probably be weird.

"That would probably work, Nimma is lovely and I'm sure she'd help us get cookies and other snacks for bribing purposes," she said without really thinking about it. The little house elf was a cutie though. And house elves as a general rule did like to please witches and wizards.

Shera laughed at his comment about worrying about the bludgers. He was a wizard after all, and he should be able to take care of himself and she should show that faith in him. Instead of trying to save him from broomsticks, and falling and bludgers. There was also only so much that a chaser could do about a stray bludger. "Maybe you can talk to your head of house for any charms to defend you from bludgers," she teased.

Seeing the bowtruckle reaching for her again with Daehyun's encouragement, she tried to give it a comforting smile. She lightly held out her curls as well as offering her other hand for it to have a choice as to what it was going to go for. It had after all first moved for her hair.

"Maybe I just look less threatening," she said jokingly, smiling at Daehyun, while trying to maintain a calm presence for the nervous creature.

If Shera wasn't ready to face things hidden in there, then it was definitely not something for Daehyun to see, though he nodded when she said she could find something left behind by students years before them. "Hey, maybe you'll find a hidden treasure," he said, trying to sound encouraging and positive. "You know, like a lost diadem," he joked, though he felt a sudden urge to cast revealing charms in random, unsuspecting places. You never knew what you could find around the castle, and Hogwarts had surely never failed to amaze him.

Nimma? "Befriended all the house elves yet?" he grinned at her. She'd surely gotten ahead in that department, because he had yet to meet the house elves - maybe during a midnight stroll to the kitchen for a snack.

Laughing at her comment about learning spells against bludgers, he shook his head. "Bombarda would do, though I have yet to find a safe place to practice it." He wouldn't trust himself to throw Bombardas here and there around so many people where so many things could go wrong, especially with zero practice to back him up. "Maybe the Room of Requirement... we should go on a search for it." It was only one of the many things they said they'd do on their stay at Hogwarts.

He watched the bowtruckle curiously as Berry eventually decided to cling onto one of Shera's fingers, and playfully hang onto it, which oddly reminded him of...

... himself. Berry hung pretty much the way he did in that Flying class, so he hoped the action wouldn't trigger the memory for Shera. It was honestly something he wanted to leave in the past, but he had a feeling it would haunt him forever. He smiled at Shera's comment, though he added, "But do watch out if you see any that are guarding a tree." The little guys may be gentle, but they certainly weren't when they felt their tree was in danger.

"That'd be pretty cool, I wonder if anyone's tried it before... or found anything, I mean this place is huuuuggggeeee," it was ridiculous. She still got lost in half the castle. "Like... a room is hidden here, so like, how easy would it be to hide an object here?"

"I think I've met most of them?" she responded easily, thinking about the house elves that she'd met up to this point. "Although there's one house elf that's pretty no nonsense from what I've seen and I haven't had a chance to talk to it yet. Nimma and Pips are both adorable though! You need to meet them! And Argyle. And just all of them."

Because she really couldn't pick any at all. Though Nimma had won her heart when she had shyly come up to introduce herself, compliment Shera's name and then brought her a burrito.

Shera nodded understandingly. "Yeah, the room of requirement is meant to be perfect for everything so..." she was pretty sure it could manage a place to practice bombarda safely. "I don't even know where to start looking. But we need to try. Do you think it also moves around the castle or do you think it would just stay in one place?"

Were there even any books that could give them more information about the room and/or how to find it?

Shera smiled at the little bowtruckle dangling from her fingers. It was surprisingly curious and happy for a bowtruckle. Her only previous experience was do not approach bowtruckles in trees. Shera's eyes shifted up to Daehyun and she nodded understandingly. "Oh I know that much about them. This is the closest that I've ever been to one... I'm surprise that it's so outgoing...I thought it would stay clinging to you like a tree."

Or you know, attack Shera for being too close to it's human tree.

It was a cutie, though!

"I'm sure there must be so many hidden things here," Daehyun said, deep in thought. "The legendary Weasley twins left a swamp behind, you think they wouldn't have left any of their inventions hidden?" The thought only brought a grin to his face because, as much as he wasn't one to play pranks on others, only the idea of discovering such precious things was exciting, and that was putting it lightly.

"I'll make sure to look for them," Nimma and Pips, mostly, since he trusted Shera that they were the nicest ones. Though knowing himself, he would probably try his luck with the grumpy ones, too.

His eyes widened when Shera mentioned the possibility of the Room of Requirement to be moving around the castle. "I sure hope it stays put, it's hard enough to find it in the first place," though he wouldn't put it past the founders to have made such a thing move as well. He hoped it could be found in the same location every time though, because he didn't even have the slightest idea of how to make it reveal itself to them. He supposed foolishly throwing Alohomora here and there wouldn't work. "My best guess is that it's on the upper floors," he said. "Or maybe the dungeons. But definitely not in popular areas, like corridors with classrooms or dormitories nearby." Made sense, didn't it?

Did she just call him a tree? Giggling lightly in response, he said, "Berry's a clingy softie." Though he had to win the little guy's trust with woodlice before he clawed his eyes out. "I wanted to take him back to his tree a few times, but he wouldn't go... so I suppose I've become the new tree." He just hoped the professors wouldn't notice him carrying a bowtruckle in his pockets to classes, because he wasn't going to leave Berry alone in the dormitories. And he wasn't too sure how the others would react upon seeing a stray bowtruckle in there.

That was a very good point. She nodded thoughtfully, as she contemplated what else could be left around. "Don't forget Ravenclaw's diadem that was lost for over a thousand years," you know, before it was found and destroyed as part of the war with Voldemort. Which really was a shame. To get rid of such a big part of their history. "I also wonder if the ghosts still have things left behind from when they were alive."

Because that would be weirdly cool.

"Well... they did create moving staircases..." that was why she was suspicious that the room of requirement could potentially move. "I still also hope it stays still. And I think I agree with you. Especially because they say it's meant to appear for students in need. I think it would be as effective if it appeared in front of a student in need in front of fifth other people..." That was the hypothesis that she was running on. But neither of them really knew what they were talking about because there wasn't much recorded information on the room. Which was a bit of a downer, really.

She laughed lightly, still smiling at the little bow truckle hanging off of her hand. "Well you're a very cute, clingy bowtruckle, aren't you Berry?" Because really it was too cute. And how did Daehyun expect her to carry out a conversation when he kept distracting her with all of these cute creatures?! But on the bright side, she hadn't missed this creature. One out of three was a good start.

"I'd like to propose that humans are much better trees than actual trees, not only will they aim to protect their bow truckle so it's lower effort for the bow truckle but there's also less risk of food shortages. Just tug your humans hair and if they've run out of food they'll run to get you more," now that was a theory she could throw herself behind 100%. And she'd already come up with in her opinion an excellent reasoning as to why she was right.

"You agree with me, don't you Berry?"

Daehyun nodded along to Shera's words, at the same time wondering if he'd ever passed by unused rooms with unsuspicious things in them... Hogwarts was such a wondrous place that he wouldn't be surprised to find hidden treasures right under his nose. "We could ask-" he'd begun to say excitedly, but on a second thought... "Actually, I suppose not. The ghosts would probably like to keep them hidden if they had left anything laying around." Besides, most didn't want to be reminded of their mortal lives, did they? Speaking of... "I wonder if Myrtle-" He couldn't help but giggle at the thought as he shook his head, though he wouldn't be caught dead asking the moaning ghost about any secrets hidden within the castle. Besides, she was mostly found in the girls' bathroom, so that was another big no-no for him.

As he listened to her points about the Room of Requirement, he couldn't help but sigh dejectedly. "I suppose we'll just have to be patient, then. And-in actual need." Though he wondered if he ever passed by it and he was hungry... would it turn into a giant refrigerator filled to the brim with goodies? He would probably move in there if that ever happened.

He laughed at Shera's very detailed explanations on why humans would make better trees for bowtruckles, but his smile suddenly turned sadder as he watched the small creature hang onto her finger. "I'd have to take Berry back, though... it's still better that they stay in their natural habitat." As much as it pained him to say so. "But we could always visit, and hope for no attacks next time," he said, meeting the bowtruckle's eyes with a playful look. He'd be prepared with lots of woodlice to offer anyway, just to stay on the safe side.

Shera thought about what he was saying, though she was on the fence about agreeing with him or not. Like... maybe it was personal to them, but it wasn't like they had much use for the things they owned in life. They were, after all, ghosts. "Well step one would anyway be befriending one of the ghosts, that's always a good start before you start asking about secrets and hidden belongings." The Ravenclaw cringed at the thought of the ghost in question, shaking her head quickly. "I am not volunteering for that. Like maybe she'd fine when you get to know her but I met her once and she spent the whole time wailing."

It had given her a headache. She now avoided that bathroom at all costs.

"You know, it'd kinda be cool to be one of the Hogwarts ghosts. Cause unlike the portraits they have more freedom to move around, which means that they should discover all of the secrets in the time they have..." now how was she meant to go about becoming a Hogwarts ghost one day in the future? Maybe that was another question to ask the ghosts when she next ran into one.

Patience was a virtue. It was not a virtue that Shera possessed. Instead, she usually ran straight into things that she was enthusiastic about without second thought. Still she nodded lightly, feeling absurdly as though they had already been defeated. "I wonder what kind of need it is. And also whether or not you'd even notice it's the room of requirement..."

That scared her the most.

"Attacked, me? Have you not noticed how loveable I am?" she looked at him with a grin as she joked about it. So far, she had been extremely lucky with creatures. That translated into so far none of them had attacked her. Also she was definitely going to sacrifice Daehyun, in the sense that he could go first and be attacked until the bow truckles calmed down and realised he was not a threat to them. She doubted they'd suddenly attack her right after experiencing that.

"That's true," he said, agreeing with her on befriending the ghosts. "Sir Nicholas is kind, but I doubt he'd share anything." He was rather... sensitive, at times. Especially about anything that reminded him that he couldn't join the headless club. And Myrtle... "I would offer, but I wouldn't be caught dead in the girls' bathroom." And he was very serious about it. They'd just have to find another way. And actually- the Bloody Baron seemed approachable after, you know, you went past the unapproachable facade he had. Which he wouldn't know how to do, as he wasn't even a Slytherin.

Daehyun blinked in surprise when she'd told him about being a ghost at Hogwarts, before his lips had stretched into a grin. "You plan on haunting the castle?" The idea sounded quite appealing, actually. To sneak through walls and scare ickle firsties... much like he'd been scared to death before eventually getting used to the ghosts roaming around the castle.

"Mmm," he hummed, deep in thought at Shera's words. Would they notice if it was the Room of Requirement or not? "Would be fun to find that we'd actually been in there already," he mused, puffing his cheeks in annoyance. But, well, he supposed all good things came with patience and hard work, so that's something they'd both have to work on.

... lovable?

Blink, blink.

Shera had probably said it as a joke, but Daehyun- "I have," he muttered under his breath, suddenly feeling his cheeks getting all flustered. Of course he noticed how lovable she was, why else would he enjoy her company so much, when he actually wasn't all that fond of human interactions? Nervously clearing his throat, he focused back on Berry, who reached out to him, so he complied by extending his hand to allow the bowtruckle to move. "I'll have to take him back," he said regretfully, since he didn't have the right place to keep a bowtruckle, and his trunk was just a big no-no. "But I hope we can find him again."

"I don't think that I've met Sir Nicholas..." Shera mused, trying to recall the ghosts that she had met up to this point. The name was familiar, and she did know it belonged to the Gryffindor ghost. That was all that was coming to mind though. "Yeah... I understand why you aren't volunteering," she commented, giggling at the thought of Daehyun awkwardly wandering into the girls bathroom to speak to Myrtle.

Myrtle was definitely off the table.

"Definitely! Like, you just get to continue on with your life. Minus food... that would kinda be a downer..." it was a well known fact to anyone who had spent a bit of time with the young Ravenclaw that she was food motivated. Also sleep motivated whenever her energy levels fell. So maybe a ghostly existence of never sleeping or eating wouldn't be that great. But hey, there would be so much that would make up for that fact!

Shera nodded in agreement. "It'd kinda be funny too. Like going somewhere and a room being missing... or do you think if you went there for the same purpose it would show up exactly the same...?" Because in that case they might never notice.

Unless they both found it independently.

Which would be interesting.

Shera found herself lost for words as Daehyun spoke. She knew that he was right, the bow truckle would have to be returned... it was better for it. But in like three seconds she had formed an attachment to it, and she couldn't imagine what Daehyun was feeling. Or what she could really do in response to what he was feeling because of it. "We'll definitely be able to visit him," was what she settled on, smiling as comfortingly as she knew how.

"I have yet to talk to any ghosts," he admitted, nervously biting on his lower lip. "Sir Nicholas seems like a pleasant company. I just-never knew how to approach him." Because most conversation starters he'd heard were How can you be nearly headless? or Why was your application to the Headless Hunt denied? and neither ended up well. But now that he thought about it, he should befriend his House ghost. All the things he could learn from Sir Nicholas...

Daehyun couldn't help but burst into laughter when Shera visibly deflated at the idea of being a ghost and not being able to eat. His eyes settled on the bag she carried, a bag that's become familiar to him, and asked, "I take it you have goodies in there?" Cue the grin and puppy eyes. He wondered if he was becoming cheeky around her, but in his defence, she'd made it a bad habit of getting him used to treats she carried in that blessed bag all the time. He should probably get one of his own.

"It should?" he hesitated when answering her question. "I don't think the founders were that unreasonable to make the room basically impossible to find." As it was, it was nearly impossible to find. "We should go on a search soon. Maybe-as much as it pains me to say this, while the others are having a meal?" That way most people won't see two suspicious firsties looking for something they didn't even know where to search for in the first place. And they could always bring snacks.

Another idea would be to sneak out of the dormitories at night, since they'd be inside the castle and safe the whole time - hopefully - but he didn't want to risk getting caught.
