| | | Trafalgar Square Exiting the subway station for Charing Cross instantly takes you to Trafalgar Square, which is at the south of Charing Cross Road and extends to a number of other streets. The square has been a significant landmark since the 13th century. The bulk of the square is taken up by Nelson's Column, surrounded by four bronze lion statues, and two large fountains featuring dolphins, mermaids, and tritons. In the corners of the square are four plinths, one of which is swapped out for another from time to time, and up a flight of stairs is the National Gallery.
A number of Muggle ceremonies are hosted here during major holidays, such as a seasonal tree ceremony prior to Christmas and a New Years celebration. The space is also occasionally used for political demonstrations, premieres, parade destinations, and more. This area is still primarily used today as a public gathering spot. With that being said, wizards and witches that find themselves here will know better than to whip their wands out.
Heading directly south of the square on Whitehall Road, the can be accessed.

Cella was always the brains while Claude was the numbers. It's true. But she can be just as persistent as he was, and he should know she will be bring her references and footnotes when negotiating for herself! "Yes! Broken! Ouch!" Cella made a little pout and whimper to show just how broken. Sometimes the pathos trumped the ethos, and she was so leaning into that right now. "But you out of everyone here would know how to mend my poor achey heart." Did Cella know that they were thinking of very different methodologies? Perhaps so, but whatever. It didn't matter at the moment, now that they were so close to the café where the real magic happens.
She wasn't sure if Claude was talking about a reservation in a café anymore, by the way. Did people need to make those just to enter a café now? Whatever happened to randomly walking in and romanticising life with the smell of freshly ground coffee beans in the air? "Well, it's a good thing you can make it up to me and my broken heart..." Cella said as she untangled her arm from Claude's, plucking a shiny white gold band (with a very much transfigured gem) from her right ring finger and slipping it onto her left hand counterpart. Character mode: On. "...And that I'm your forever plus-one, honey." She said it in such a serious tone that nobody would ever believe her if she said she was internally laughing and gagging at herself for this.
This was hers and Claude's birdie world, and everyone else was just simply living in it. What a world it was - full of celebration for the ~newly engaged.
Side chicks? Why, no, no! Why would they be talking about these things during such a great day?! "I don't want to talk about your past, darling. It is now just you, me, and our beautiful future together." Demand curves? Did Cella know what who those were? This locked-down version of Ascella Archer did not! "Why would I be seeing green? I'm the one with the ring." Right?? No version of Cella Archer - whether the real one or the present lover one - would ever be the jealous type. Really! Ask anyone!
Show time, birdie? Well, she knew how he felt about clichés. U rock never change, Cella!!! And look, Claude could be affectionate when he wanted to be, just ask Nikita!
Let the record show, he admired the attention to detail. Bring it on, Ascella Archer. May the best birdie win. "Terrible acting," he lifted a very judgmental Claude-grade brow before shaking his head at her. If she wanted to convince anyone, she'd have to do a bit better than that. Dear Merlin, hopefully her negotiating skills were far better than her acting ones. Otherwise, what's the point? There's no fun when it's easy. "It's true, I'm a man of many skills and talents." And that's all he'd say on that. Though, if she'd like more references, Nikita could provide one for this claim as well.
And of course he wasn't speaking about the café. For someone so intelligent, Cella certainly caught herself in the minutiae of it all sometimes. He'd catch her up later, when he forwarded her the calendar invite for their upcoming dinner res. Now. Circling back to the acting skills. Fortunately, Cella's more practiced characters were far more believable. It helped that the band she wore was just-so darling. He had done good, hadn't he, boys? "I should say that in my vows!" For his part, Claude played the idiot fiancé role so well. He even punctuated the realization with a slap to his own forehead. Child's play. "And babies. We're going to have so many of those, I hope. I think I'd like to drive a mini-van." Perhaps his adoptive father was right, he really should have gone into acting. "Well, because I was thinking of getting you another ring. It was meant to be a surprise though. A ruby - or are those red?" Engaged, golden retriever Claude didn't know the difference between Rubies and Emeralds. Someone better help him out. Better yet, someone better offer him a free 'just engaged' pastry. Maybe that'd help restore his understanding of precious gemstones. If nothing else, it'd put a big ol' smile on his face.
Anyway, he moved his hand to rest it on her .. back pocket.
Did someone say showtime?

Did someone say showtime? It's fine. Birdie Archer knew her place now. He need not rub more salt to her wounds. Also, Cella will not be asking Nikita anything Claude-related - especially one regarding affection.
And did he know that Ascella Archer was the best birdie by default? You're so welcome, Claude! "Not all of us came out of the womb holding an Oscar, birdie." She knew her acting wasn't on his skill level, but can't he just let her? Have a little fun, Claudykins! Because this Archer girl was! Again, she won't be asking his not-girlfriend about anything. Merlin, birdie, was he trying to reach a world record of Nikita mentions or something?
Look. Cella wasn't aware that there would be evening plans today. All she knew was that they'd be meeting in Trafalgar at this time, and then they would let the rest of the day and the winds dictate their course of action. A café visit was natural, so was acting as newly-engaged weirdos because they did this so often. But a dinner reservation was deliberate on his part and she didn't know about it! No matter, though, they weren't Cella&Claude now. They were future Mr. and Mrs. Birdie. "You're right, honey! Don't forget that. I'll help you proofread it later, how does that sound?" And she was going to sell the role, too, because Cella leaned into audibly smack his cheek. No lips involved, no. It was basically a tap on his skin, it was almost fake.
Except! It! Wasn't! Fake! DUH! Her silly, so very silly fiancé. It's a good thing he was…tall.
Also, babies?! Out-of-character Cella would have howled at this mention, but in-character she hid it well with a timed affectionate chuckle. "Road trips every weekend? Oh, honey, we will have to load up on nappies every other day." That's how many babies they'll be having! Such a fruitful union, this one. "Another ring? Wow, you really do love me! And yes, my love, rubies are red. Remember, they start with the same letter." So helpful, so devoted, she was. It didn't matter that she had to remind him every fortnight!
Cella threw Claude a quick side eye for the hand placement, by the way. It was so quick that nobody else would've noticed!
All for the love of the game.
Pushing the café door open, Ascella 'Mrs. Birdie' Archer beamed up at the barista in front. "LOVELY day, everyone!" The former Hufflepuff chirped in her strong Irish accent for practically the entire café to hear.

Pushing the café door open, Ascella 'Mrs. Birdie' Archer beamed up at the barista in front. "LOVELY day, everyone!" The former Hufflepuff chirped in her strong Irish accent for practically the entire café to hear. Smart girl. She likely wouldn't like anything that he and Nikita got up to. Even the bookshop stories were marked unsafe from Birdie Archer's ears. He'd spare her the details. So kind of him, really.
Best birdie by default? No, that didn't sound right. Besides, surely she couldn't want the win handed to her. Where's the fun in that? "Ah, my fault. I had assumed we were at the same skill baseline," he laughed, yeah yeah yeah. He could let her - just needed to call it to her attention first. And let it be known, Claude was always having fun in her presense. Read: All the laughter. As for Nikita mentions? Yes. He was going for a record. Sue him. "You're so good to me, dear." Look, he hadn't planned for the evening either, but when you're able to snag the hottest dinner reservation in town, you take it as soon as you can get your hands on it. Claude was no amateur. Speaking of amateur - what was that kiss? No lips? Booooo. Tomato. Claude would've done it full on, but he knows Cella is more sensitive to these things. Besides, she'd likely blow it all up by pushing him away and laughing. Again, acting skills. They left something to be desired. "I'm thinking at least enough to draft our very own football team. Though, I'd be satisfied with even more. How many nappies do you think you can fit into your bag?" He leaned over to peek at it. "How are you so smart. Do you see how smart she is? My soon-to-be wife?" He spoke to anyone who was close enough to hear. Soon-to-be, did they catch that? Important details.
Was there something wrong, dear Cella?
He followed up behind her, hand still happy where it was. For now, he stayed quiet, wearing a smile and let Cella do the initial talking. She was so good-natured and friendly, his fiancée.

He followed up behind her, hand still happy where it was. For now, he stayed quiet, wearing a smile and let Cella do the initial talking. She was so good-natured and friendly, his fiancée. FYI. Birdie Archer would never want to know any of his bookstore stories. Ever. She would never know for sure what happens, but it certainly was for the best she didn't. Some things were better left in the dark. It's called self-preservation.
Yeah? And yet it's still a win against him! That's what's fun! Cella had to snort at his remark, though. He was certainly implying that he was better at acting - which was true, hands down - but oh how unapologetic he was! "Your head needs massive deflating." It's a good thing Cella would happily do it, free of charge. She's so kind! But unfortunately she didn't have enough funds to hire a proper good lawyer to sue him, so he can go reach that world record all he wants. Mhm.
"That's because you deserve the best, sugar boo." Best fiancée. Best company. Best name of endearment too, apparently. Don't ask Cella where sugar boo came from. She didn't know either. She was entirely possessed by the spirit of Birdie Archer. Except for the kiss, because that's not happening. Cella wouldn't mind a smooch for the funsies with anyone, but she thought sharing one with Claude even as a joke was weird. He's basically family, okay!
Football?! Real life Cella Archer would shove him for that suggestion. So so so many! So unrealistic! But she's not Cella Archer right now, remember? She is future Mrs. Birdie, and future Mrs. Birdie was an absolute mother hen (hah!). "What kind of football? I was thinking Australian. They've got eighteen players per team." Personally knowing the most random trivia was sometimes useful in this acting game! Love being a brainaic! And eighteen was a wonderful number! "I can fit as many as we want in here, darling. She's charmed. She's infinite." That probably came out ridiculous to muggles, but it's true that Cella did have her bag modified with an undetectable extension charm. One can never have too much space in their bag.
His soon-to-be wife! "That's me, yeah." Cella made sure to clarify with the barista, whose eyebrows had certainly been raised high enough that they got lost in his fringe, perhaps at the absurdity that was these two clucking idiots of an engaged couple he now had to deal as customers. "Hi, there. I'd like a—ooOHH, this one!" Cella slammed a finger against the photo of an iced blended mocha drink with a full whipped cream top and sprinkles on the menu. And yes, she was using her hand with the RING. Can you see this ring, barista boy? Look at it very carefully! Look at it so good!! And Cella ordering a sweet sugary drink? Absolutely no brainer.
"And for the love of my life, he'd like a..." Cella put on a thinky face at the menu before looking back at Claude. "He can have my hand in marriage." She was trying not to laugh at that - and it was probably obvious, if it weren't for Cella masking it so quickly with a grin. "Did you want another coffee?" He could have whateeeeever he wanted, did he know?
Internal gag.
