Upon entering Professor Carton’s office, it’s easy to see that the space is every bit as organized and practical as the man himself. The walls are painted a dark, non-distracting shade of gray, and a large bookshelf takes up most of the back wall. The bookshelf is home to many textbooks on transfiguration application and theory, as well as the odd novel or two. Ask nicely, and the professor might let you borrow one!
A simple wooden desk sits in the middle of the room, complete with lots of drawers for quills, parchment, and other essential supplies. Behind the desk is a dark red leather chair where the professor can usually be found; two smaller chairs of the same color sit in front of the desk for visitors’ use. The top of the desk is mostly barren, except for a block calendar, silver inkwell, and two framed photos: one of Professor Carton with his late wife, the other of their daughter.
The most interesting feature on the desk is undoubtedly the miniature vanishing cabinet. This model was built by Professor Carton himself and, like everything else in the office, is fully functional. It is linked with an identical model sitting on a small table outside the office. Should you wish to speak to Professor Carton, simply fill out the form below, place it in the vanishing cabinet model with the door closed, and knock on the office door. Please note that only forms, notes, and small gifts for the professor should be placed in the cabinet! Abuse of this privilege by transporting inappropriate items (e.g. rude notes, dungbombs, animals, etc.) will result in the cabinet’s removal.

The moment Professor Carton mentioned that he would teach Piscifors to anyone that wanted to learn before dinner that evening, Dahlia knew she would be attending. She wasn't one to pass up on any chance to learn a new spell, especially from a Professor. She always had a thing for learning everything that she could, reading anything she could get her hands on that interested her. Now that she was at Hogwarts and with the whole 'Neo Alliance' thing happening, well, the more she learned the better.
Lia stared at the small vanishing cabinet on the desk outside of the professors office. It was absolutely adorable! Could he teach her to make one? Or several? How did it work exactly? Was it possible to have a couple of them that were all linked together? So many questions! However today she wasn't here for that. She was here to learn Piscifors.
Without wasting anymore time, dinner was in only an hour, she pulled out her favorite quill and filled out the short form.
Name: Dahlia Jane Donovan Year: First House: Ravenclaw Reason for visit: To learn Piscifors
Putting her quill away, she folded the slip of parchment in half and placed it into the miniature vanishing cabinet and shut the door. Lightly she knocked on the door and than waited.

Violet hurried down to Professor Carlton's office, still sore from her flying lesson mishaps of the term. If there was a new spell to be taught, Violet was determined to learn it. Besides, from the name, 'Piscifors,' she thought it sounded like another animal-related spell and it sounded fun. Violet had never thought she was interested in Magical Creatures and such things before, being more drawn to Potions and Arithmancy, but during the past few school terms, she had found she really enjoyed being around animals and any magic involving them.
Anyway, anything was better than going to the Great Hall for dinner with all those new Alliance people shoving and pushing and eating like pigs. Violet had scarfed away enough spare food during the past few days that she figured she could miss a few meals and eat in peace somewhere privately.
When she got to Professor Carlton's office, she saw another student, a young first year Ravenclaw, had gotten there before her. Well, that was all right, but Violet was not going to go away herself. "Hi," she nodded, and hastily scribbled out her form with a stubby pencil she always had with her:
Text Cut: Violet's form
Name: Violet P. Blackthorne
Year: Third
House: Slytherin
Reason for visit: Piscifors lesson (remember, you promised in class!)
Then she hastily stuffed the form into the small Vanishing Cabinet (which seemed to have returned after its previous trip with Dahlia's message) and stood back to wait.
Anyone else who wants to learn this spell can join ^_^

Behind the door, Norman bustled about his office, getting supplies ready for the Piscifors demonstration he’d promised the students. Several fish bowls filled with pebbles sat on his desk. Would that be enough for everyone? He didn’t know how many students were coming, but just in case, he had many more fish bowls on hand, stored in a box behind his desk. He had just drawn his wand to fill the fish bowls when he heard a knock at the door. That was his cue to check the vanishing cabinet on his desk, and he found a folded slip of parchment inside. No sooner had he read Donovan’s form did another one appear in the cabinet, this one from Blackthorne.
He opened the door, acknowledging each girl in turn with a nod. “Hello, Miss Donovan and Miss Blackthorne,” he greeted, holding the door open a bit wider to allow them inside. “You’re right on time. Come in, and we’ll get started.”

A warm smile graced her lips when she was quickly joined by a slightly older girl. She didn't know her on a personal level but she did recall seeing her in lessons and in the Great Hall. "Hello." Normally she would've said a bit more but it seemed like only seconds later that the door to the office opened and Carton was standing there.
"Hello, Professor Carton," Dahlia smiled lightly, stepping into the office. Right away her attention went directly to the fish bowls on the desk. This was going to be fun! There was no way it couldn't be. Learning how to change something into a little fish that she could watch swim around? Yep. Lots of fun to be had, coming right up!

Donovan’s smile got a small one from Norman in return, as did Blackthorne’s thanks. “You’re welcome, Miss Blackthorne,” he replied. Although he wasn’t the most touchy-feely guy, he was always willing to guide those who genuinely wanted to learn.
He glanced down the hall, watching for any stragglers who might be joining them for a moment. When he saw no one else, he closed the door behind him and turned to the girls. “We may have to move into the hall if more people join us, but we’ll start here,” he said. He took his seat in the large chair behind the desk, gesturing toward the two smaller chairs as an invitation for the girls to sit down.
“Before you can cast Piscifors, you’ll need to fill your fish bowl,” he said, handing each girl a fish bowl. “Unless your intention is to do serious harm to your target, you need to put it in water before casting. Do you two know how to do the Water-Making Spell, Augamenti?” If they did, they were welcome to fill their own fish bowls. Otherwise, he didn’t mind doing it for them.

Dahlia nodded. If they eventually had to move to a larger area to learn the charm, that was fine with her. As long as she got to properly learn the charm she was going to be happy. Without hesitation, she sat down on a chair opposite Carton's larger one.
Taking the fish bowl into her hands, Lia peered inside it. It was empty save for some pebbles at the bottom. Adding some water definitely needed to happen. "I've been working on it but I haven't quite mastered it yet." Now was as good a time as any to work on it.
Pulling out her wand, Lia pointed the tip of the wand down into the fish bowl. Clearing her mind she tried to visualize water filling the bowl. "Aguamenti," she cast clearly. Nothing happen. Not wanting to get easily discouraged she tried again, this time with more focus. "Aguamenti." Sure enough a gentle stream of water flowed from the tip of her wand into the bowl. A light smile formed on her lips. Once the bowl was full with enough water she cast the charm to stop it.

[b/]"Sure,"[/b] Violet said, settling herself in one of the chairs and taking a bowl. After setting fire to the forest under the control of a vengeful ghost last term, Violet had made sure to get her Uncle Hamlet to work with her on the water-making spell over the summer, just in case something like that ever happened again. "Aguamenti!," she said confidently, pointing her wand at the bowl.
