BRRR.
It was cold outside but Adi wasn’t too affected. That was for two reasons: one - he loved the cold, and two- there were Heating Charms at work in his clothing. As he passed the Streeler Soup Stop, he realised how hungry he was. But seriously, he was ALWAYS hungry. Foodies for the world!
Upon entering the place and learning of the special event, Adi could not resist heading over to the counter to order the special stew. “Hey! Aditya Atreyu-Rehman here to place an order for a bowl of your special stew.’’ Just giving the name in case the counter attendant needed to note it down or anything.

Woops.
There went his stomach making those hunger noises
Look, this wasn't something Corrina was planning on doing forever. All she wanted to do was make enough cash to move out of her parents' basement, maybe go out a couple nights a week with her mates, and buy enough groceries to survive on her own. If that meant some razzle-dazzle behind the counter action at a soup shop, she was down. Apparently she had the look to sell the stuff, whatever that meant. She was choosing to see it as a compliment. She was also so choosing not to dwell on the fact that today was going to be a total headache because of this little contest thingy. At least it meant maybe she'd make some tips.
"Hey there," The brunette greeted with a winning smile as she casually turned the jar on the counter around so that the 'TIPS' label could be read by all. "I like your style, Aditya. You're going to be seated at table number one while the chef puts the finishing touches on his latest masterpiece. In the meantime, have a little look-see at our brainstorm-form, which you'll be using to jot down all your thoughts on the stew." Like how it was warm. Or how it tasted good. You know, the basics. She took the top sheet off the stack and handed it over. "Feel free to take a complimentary pen if you don't have one on you." She smiled and gestured to the cup of pens which, OH, just so happened to be by the tip jar. What a coincidence! "So just go on and have a seat at Table one." The tabletop was decorated with all kinds of funky, colorful 1s, so he really could't miss it. "And I'll serve the stew right up."

The guy decided that one’s stomach making those weird hunger noises at the Soup Stop wasn’t a bad thing. There were probably lots of others who did, anyway. The pretty lady behind the counter was super helpful though. That was certainly a smile that would light up any room. No worries; he was not looking to flirt. He was a happily married man, after all. His eyes went to the tip jar and made a mental note that should the woman’s service be a great one, he’d give her a nice tip.
“Thanks a ton!’’ The man liked that she approved. With regard to the seating arrangement and the form, he understood perfectly. “Got ya.” He snagged up a pen, once again eyeing the tip jar. The man offered the woman a grin then headed for the table with the colourful number ones. He slid into a seat then shifted his attention to the form.

It was a super easy one to full out.
There were smells. The most wonderful smells wafting into the seating area from the kitchen and Corrina made a show of breathing in deep and letting out a happy sigh. No, but for real, whatever Carmen had brewing back there was going to be amazing.
An extended arm offered her a basket of bread and she knew what that meant. Keep the guests happy by keeping their bellies occupied. She could do that, no problem.
"Stew's almost up. The bread is just a warm-up, but it's equally as good." The basket contained all different kinds of bread for dipping or snacking before the main course. She happened to like pumpernickel best. "So, you always been a big soup fan? I never realized there were so many around these parts." Like, it wouldn't be her first choice as far as foods went, but she liked a hot bowl of something tasty.
Noémi Upstead stopped into the soup shop after work, intending on taking some soup home for herself and her new husband. It seemed like the perfect warm-up meal for this cold weather, but once she was inside from the brisk wind, the delicious aroma was tempting enough to persuade her into a sample. And what a fun contest! She could easily partake in the game, then bring some home for her and Jaecar for later.
"Hello there!" She gave the woman behind the counter a friendly smile. "I'd like to try some of the special stew please." She wasn't sure how creative she could be with a new name for it, but she would certainly give it her best try!

This enthusiasm? She could work with it, mirroring the customer's smile with one of her own. "Hiya, I'm Corrina and I'll be helping you out today." If this one turned out to be a regular, it'd be good to make a good impression, y'know? "Perfect! Our cook extraordinaire is putting the finishing touches on the stew as we speak, so if you'll just take this Brain Storm form and head on over to table number 2, I'll be right over with some fresh bread." She couldn't miss table number 2. It was literally covered with the number in different sizes and styles, all colorful and bright. "Oh! And please feel free to help yourself to a pen if you haven't brought one along." Push the pens, they'd said. They had the logo of this place on them, so she supposed it made sense.

Oh, yeah.
The aroma could not be ignored. Not that he wanted to. Inhaling the aroma with each breath just made him even hungrier. The man forced himself to remain focused to finish filling up the form. He was only a little way with that when the helpful young lady reappeared. And she brought bread with her! Excellent! “Thanks, Corrine. No. Corrina! Sorry.” Adi grinned sheepishly. He then reached for a bit of pita bread.
“Actually, I’m a fan of most foods,’’ he replied brightly. “I haven’t had soup for a while though so this will be a nice change.” And he could hardly wait. “By the way, which of the bread would you highly recommend?”

Her attention on the woman behind the counter, Noémi nodded along in understanding while she spoke. This might be a fun little adventure, she thought as she took the brainstorm form and glanced at it. "Alright, well thank you so much, Corrina," she looked up with a smile. "I look forward to it." Trying the soup, getting some bread. She was glad she thought of stopping in before heading home.
And yes, she would need a pen. Noémi selected one before heading over to the table marked with all the twos, giving the man at table 1 an acknowledging nod and friendly smile. "Hello there." Once she sat at her own table, she pulled out her form and began to fill it out while she waited.

So...the sounds that were now coming from the kitchen weren't exactly normal. Heavy sighing, a noise of frustration, the clang of a ladle hitting the counter a little harder than was probably necessary. Corrina did her thing and continued to be the picture of calm, giving a sheepish smile as she slipped back into the kitchen, only to return a few minutes later wearing an odd expression and carrying two baskets of bread. She set one down in front of each of the customers, addressing the man's question. "I'm a huge fan of the pumpernickel. I like that mix of sweet and sour. I highly reccomend it."
"Stews up!" Carmen popped his head out of the kitchen, knowing the words would bring Corrina over to him and while the stew really was done, there was one major problem with it. Something had gone wrong. Big time wrong.
"Oh! Look at that. I'll just go grab your bowls and be right back. Enjoy your bread." Corrina flashed a smile and then followed Carmen into the kitchen, just beyond the door. "With all that noise earlier, I thought something was wrong," She admitted.
...
"Something IS wrong. The soup tastes like nothing. I don't know how it happened!" Carmen ladled out three bowls of soup, giving one to Corrina to try. "I did everything right, but somehow...just try it!" He was distraught! If he had any hopes of keeping his job, he had to do something to turn this around.
"Come on, don't be so hard on yourself. I feel like all soup is bland." Look, she was just being honest here. She scooped herself a spoonful out of the bowl she was offered and brought it to her mouth...and nothing. No flavor. No taste at all. ...What? "Wow, it really does taste like nothing. That's impressive!"
Carmen groaned, shaking his head. He was done for. "If the soup tastes like nothing, this whole contest is a fail, and if the contest is a fail, the buzz around this place is going to be ALL BAD and I can't have that, okay?"
Okay, bad buzz for this place actually was something to worry about. She needed this job, remember? She had plans. Big ones. Ones that involved spending money she didin't have if all this went south. "Don't worry, okay? I've got an idea. Just trust me!"
....
Ahem.
Returning to the front of the restaurant, Corrina carried a tray with two steaming bowls of stew on it. She set one down in front of each customer with a flourish and then carried the tray with her own bowl over to the counter, where she took a big spoonful in her mouth and smacked her lips together. "Oh! Oh, how delicious. Oh, I detect a hint of-" She made a show like she'd forgotten the customers could hear her and made an 'ooops' face. "Guess I can't give any hints. You have to rely on your own taste buds if you want to win."
She continued to eat, pretending to consider the flavors she was tasting and occasionally jotting things down. Hey, if these two really wanted to win the contest so bad, maybe they'd play along, too! After all, who could say if it was the stew that was messed up or their taste buds?!
After a few more minutes of this, she casually asked, "Would either of you like anything to drink?" She had yet another idea and this one was in case her first idea failed.
Noémi looked up from her form when she heard the chef call out that the soup was ready, then gave the woman a smile as she dropped off a basket of bread at her table. "Merci, it smells delicious." She did love fresh bread and she eagerly helped herself to a delicate bite.
She was completely unaware of the conversation that was going on behind closed doors, but she looked up again when Corrina returned. Noémi was quite hungry all of a sudden, even after having eaten some of the bread. Must just be the anticipation, she thought, or even the aroma of fresh hot soup. She thanked the server again, then dipped her spoon into the bowl.
Noémi blew gently on the spoonful and was just about to take a bite when she couldn't help but to hear the exclamations of Corrina. She lifted her eyes to the woman and gave her a small smile before tasting the soup herself. Oh... how strange. Her expression grew puzzled as she first paused, then helped herself to another bite. No, still nothing. How could that be? Did she suddenly lose her sense of taste. She quickly helped herself to another bite of bread to be sure, but that wasn't it. She could taste the bread just fine, but not the soup.
Should she say something? Noémi was unsure, especially as the other woman seemed to be quite delighted with her own soup. She hesitated, but then nodded when offered a drink. "I'd love some tea if you have it."
