Bumper Brooms

http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/a...ron/brooms.jpg

Welcome one, welcome all to Bumper Brooms! Enjoy the most roughnecked fun you can have at our carnival without the risk of being sent to a healer don't quote us on that.

A group of fifteen brooms levitate 15 feet, or 4.5 metres, above the carnival; they are only lowered in between rides by the Bumper Brooms operator when excited carnival-goers want to hop on. Each broom can seat two people and is equipped with hand grips, foot holds, and invisible shields that can be used to safely bump into other riders. While the brooms are in the air, they are enclosed by an invisible, magical oval the size of a football field to keep any rider from getting bumped too far away. Any person shorter than 5 feet, or 1.5 metres, must be accompanied by a partner.

Do try not to fall off of your broom. Ride at your own risk. Happy bumping!
OOC: Feel free to interact with the Bumper Brooms Carnie Beatrice Balifrey (Lottiepot), chat, play and enjoy the ride! ;)

Remember that Snitchseeker site rules and the Diagon Alley Rules apply at all times. If you have any questions, you can ask them in the Diagon Alley Questions thread.

Raven had thought that broom riding had been a legend, a myth, a fictional idea of witches. And she had never thought that a "WIZARD" would ride on a broomstick. She was so excited. She stepped up to the broom. "Here goes nothing...." she said aloud.
When she got on the broom, she went up the 15 feet and started going faster. No one else was riding yet, and there was no one to bump into. She had noticed on her Hogwarts letter that no first years were allowed a broom stick. Why was this? It didn't seem dangerous to her at all! Was she just really good at riding on a broom?
She wondered what the purpose of riding on a broom was for. She couldn't wait to tell all of her future friends about this experience. Maybe she would meet someone tomorrow. She hoped that she would meet a hufflepuff. Maybe they would ride a broom with her too! This was a two-seater. She glanced down toward her parents. They looked really nervous. She really didn't want to get off the broom. No, she would stay up in the air until more people wanted to ride. She wasn't sure how good she would be at riding a broom when people were trying to bump into her. That might change her odds a bit.

"ROLL UP ROLL UP"

A distinct cockney accent rang out across the bumper brooms area floating in the wind across the carnival.

"First years and adults alike.." Especially first years as they wouldn't or hadn't had as many opportunities for flying as many others had. "Come bump your friends, enemies or family about on this unusual game" she called, leaning back and watching a first year that had turned up.

Isobel was wandering around the carnival. She wanted to do everything, and she would. But she couldn't do them all at once, unfortunately. The hyper Hufflepuff spotted the bumper brooms and immediately ran over. There was no way anything could deter her from playing on the bumper brooms. Of course, it would be more fun with a friend.

Maybelle saw bumper brooms. Wow, they really had everything here. She saw Isobel, running over to her she about tripped. "Hi, Isobel!" She said, jumping up and down. This would be fun, Maybelle remembered back in California going to Conney Island and going on the bumper cars, but bumper brooms were way better.

Isobel heard her name and she spun around quickly. "Hey Maybelle," she said cheerfully with a smile on her face. She had been hoping for Damien, but Maybelle was almost as awesome. She hoped Damien showed up at some point though. Isobel grinned and looked at the brooms. She wanted to go on them. Now!

Caroline had never heard of this but it sure did look fun, bumper brooms. She had seen and rode on muggle bumper cars and boats before. Yes, even growing up as a pureblood, her father took her to such muggle things as that. She begged him too. She waited in line for her turn to get on. This was so exciting she feel like a kid again. Sure she was only seventeen. But Carnivals really took her back.

This ride had brooms in it. Of course Vashti was going to ride it. There was just no way she could possibly not get on this ride. There was a line though, but fortunately it wasn't too long. Not to mention there were about fifteen brooms open, so they'd likely be able to all fit in one go. They just had to be let in.

She wasn't sure how long they'd have to wait though, so she figured the best way to pass the time would be to start up a conversation. Since she was at the back of the line, she had only the girl in front of her who looked to be around her age. "Soooo," she began, "you enjoying this carnival?" Lame conversation-starter, that was.

Caroline was watching as the group in front of her was riding or bumping into each other in looked so fun. She could wait to get on a line was forming even longer behind her. A voice from behind her spoke to her. Turning around she smiled "It's so much fun. I really I'm enjoying it here. How about you?" she smiled.

"This looks exciting doesn't it? I've been on the muggles bummper cars and boats before but never brooms" honestly she had never seen or heard of bummper brooms in her whole life but it seemed like a perfect twist to a fun muggle carnival ride.

After strolling around the Carnival grounds for some time, just trying to take her mind off things, Emily found herself standing in front of the Bumper Brooms game. Hhhmmm. It looked like fun, it looked distracting and even better it was the perfect game to brighten her mood... it wa either this or the Wand Shooting Range- which sounded equally as exciting. But of course being Emily she would try them both.

Still she just stood there observing for the time being, she wasn't in a rush.

"I guess you want to have a go?" Brad asked moving to stand next to her. It had been a long time since he had seen Emily after their not so great ending to their last drink together and he felt terrible about it. He'd been thinking that maybe he should find her, say sorry that sort of thing. It wasn't till Bradley had seen her across the way from him that the urge to apologize kicked in fully.

Striding over he had pushed and shoved through the busy crowd hoping to get to her fast before she moved away, before someone else started talking to her. He couldn't say sorry if she was busy, he needed her full attention, so was glad when he finally made it and she was still alone. But still he didn't say sorry.

Emily didn't have to turn to know who was speaking to her... she recognised his voice. Despite the fact that its been a while since they've spoken. Ever since...

Sigh.

She shrugged, "I was considering it," she answered, still not looking at him. It felt slightly awkward. There so much she wanted to say to him, but at the same time there was so much she just didn't want to say to him. After a brief moment, Emily gathered her thoughts, swallowed her pride and turned to face Bradley.
"It's been a while," she said simply, trying to smile and failing.

Bradley sighed, this was going to be awkward. He knew instantly when Emily replied but not turning towards him. No hugs, no real smiles. They could be friends yes but good friends? close friends? maybe. The thought broke his heart in two. "I know," His whispered looking over her face once and then to the floor. "I'm sorry, i'm really sorry Emily.." He finished although left his sentence unfinished.

If he could do anything so that they could be real good friends again he would, he wanted all that back. Plucking up the courage he looked up from the ground and gave her an equally half hearted smile.

Emily shook her head, she couldn't take that... she couldn't handle that.
"Please, Bradley... don't apologise..." She didn't deserve it. She had hurt him, how much? she had no idea, but she had been at fault. And she could have handled the whole situation a bit better.

It was good to see Brad smile though, and it did make her feel a little better. Maybe they could salvage what was left of their friendship. Emily managed to return the smile with more ease this time, and it was a genuine smile.
Nudging him gently with her elbow- to break whatever tension remained, she then turned her gaze back to the game in front of her.
"What do you think? ... think you can take me on?"
There really was nothing like a good game of Bumper Brooms to break down barriers.

After looking around the stalls and vendors, Freya decided to look around the carnival who knows maybe she will find one of her friends or some interesting games. Then after a few minutes of walking, the blonde arrived in front of Bumper Brooms. It's exactly what she's looking for. She looked around the area hoping that she caught someone she knew so she had someone to bump the broom to.

He held up his hands to stop her, "No please....i have to" He said, his eyes sweeping over her face. After a moment he let them fall to his sides once more and gave her another small smile. He was glad he'd apologised finally, he finally got that off his chest. Brad was all for having their friendship as good as it once was.

And so the shove and smile he got from Emily felt like a start for him. This made him smile and playfully shove her back. "Your on...but don't cry if i win" He joked back his smile genuine this time. With a laugh he turned back to the attraction and waited till she felt already to go on.

Lara was excited so much about going to the carnival. She's been planning for it a week ago and finally she was there. She grinned widely as she saw all the sections and the people passing by. It was crowded indeed she thought to herself.

The young girl was determined to visit all parts of the carnival. But first she headed towards the Bumper Brooms. She looked at the brooms above the carnival, she spotted a coupe already up while other brooms were unequipped. She was so excited about riding one of those brooms.

But first ,Lara looked around her, she felt it would be more amusing if she had a partner. And to her surprise she spotted her friend Freya few feet away. And without hesitation she bolted towards her "Freya!!" she called out as she stretched out her arms to give her friend a hug.

She nodded. "Oh yes, definitely exciting." It involved brooms, so of course it was exciting! Riding brooms was always great fun. She'd been on bumper cars/boats before though? Excellent! Everett had stuffed his face with carnival food, so now onto the rides. While he wandered through seeing all the rides on offer, he saw the bumper brooms. Wicked. Everett eagerly grinned as he lined up to go on them. It looked too fun. He glanced around at the others, trying to look for any others who were possibly as enthusiastic as him about it.

Heh heh. He was in for it, thats for sure, she knew s thing or two about flying, but even better than that, she knew a thing or two about bumping people. She never held back. So this would be fun. Maybe she would go a bit easy on Brad, she wouldn't want him to feel inadequate. Heh heh.
"Well come on then, there's other things I want to see as well," she said grabbing Brad by the hand and dragging him toward the ride. This would be fun, especially now that she wasn't n her own.

Emma was walking a long the Carnival taking in all the beautiful sights. She'd never been to a Carnival before and this was magical. Wonderful. Though, the Slytherin wondered if the Carnival had a ride that had something to do with Quiddiitch. Anything to do with Brooms and Quidditch at this Carnival was going to make the Quidditch-obssesed Malfoy insanely happy. And then she saw it. Bumper Brooms. Her heart started beating quicker. The blonde Malfoy skipped fast walked over to line up at Bumper Brooms behind a handsome dark, curly-haired guy who looked about her age.

Emma gave him a smile. She could't WAIT for the ride to begin. Because she was so happy, the blonde decided that she'd strike up a conversation with the guy (Evrett) in front of her. "Hey! You excited for this ride? It sounds like its going to be wicked," she exclaimed, flashing him a one hundred bolt smile due. "I'm Emma. Emma Malfoy, by the way. Fifth year, Slytherin,"

She knew what her name was and that she was a Ravenclaw and played Quidditch. She smiled when Vashti said that she was having a great time too. "What all have you done here?" Yes. The line was moving up but not fast enough for her.

She watched the ones in front of her as they got on. She shook her head she didn't want to seem like a creeper standing there staring. She couldn't help it she couldn't wait to get on."I'm Caroline." She said with a smile. They were finally meeting, as weird as that sounded to her. Caroline laughed. "Of course its with a broom, you know it will be awesome!"

It was such a relief to see that they could actually be friends, that they could get along and just hang out. She didn't want to lose Brad, so seeing him happy made her happy. "Yep, do you have a problem with that?"Things were going well, but Emily wasn't too thrilled about being poked. Raising her eyebrows, she gave him an 'oh-your-in-for-it-now' sort of look, which he would hopefully understand and not think that she was just weird.
"Not really... it's rare when I do." Stopping briefly to think, she looked up at Brad. "Mmm I think I've only cried once, maybe twice in the last five years."Her last night at Hogwarts, and once because of Xavier... Even her fathers passing didn't bring tears to her eyes. Though that wasn't surprising.

Shrugging, Emily continued to drag Brad toward the brooms. It was time to have some fun. She only let go of his hand once she had reached one of the brooms, and mounted it with ease. She sat there and watched, grinning brightly.
