Hello to all, but especially to those of you who are joining this wonderful community for the first time *points* Yes, I am talking to you all you newbies *waves* For the month of October I am one of the SS staff members whose brain you can attempt to pick apart who you can get to know.

Before I jump into a mini introduction, I just want to say WELCOME! once again to all of our new members. Maybe you just happened to stumble upon SS, or perhaps you are here by a friend's recommendation. No matter the reason, I hope that you enjoy everything the site as to offer because, well, there is A LOT to enjoy!

*clears throat* Ahem, anyway. I am sweetpinkpixie, but most people here call me Pixie. No, my real name is not Pixie *sorry to disappoint* and I am not a huge fan of Pixie Lott - I just like magical creatures! My real name is Katherine and I live in Japan working as an Assistant English Teacher at two elementary schools and one Jr high school currently. I was born in California and went to university in Oregon where I was a Japanese Studies major with a minor in English. I almost double majored with Computer Science, but my professor made me disenchanted with the subject. Alas.

I just recently got married to my best friend and *gets all mushy* soul mate. Some of my hobbies and interests include graphic design, soccer, translating, and spending far too much time here on SS.

I joined SS a little over a year ago when I was looking up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows events being held in Japan when I saw that SS was in need of someone to go to Tokyo and report on the Deathly Hallows Countdown Event. I was looking up information on a whim and am sure that my finding SS was fate. I have been addicted ever since. So, I joined SS on August 8, 2010 where I dove into the school RP with my current character, Kurumi Hollingberry.

I spend most of my time here on SS in the School RP where I am one of the Gryffindor prefects, Gryffindor Seeker, and a member of the yearbook staff (graphics). I am also the Director of Environmental Rangers over in the Ministry RP (Department of Environmental Regulation & Protection), shopkeeper at the Leaky Cauldron, and was a writer for the Daily Prophet.

Outside of the RP worlds, I am a Fan Fiction mod in the Romance and Character sections, along with co-running the Challenge area. I recently was award a Golden Goblin for my drabbles about the Hogwarts Founders and for my Epic & Adventure story, The Hedwig Chronicles. I am also the graphics officer for the Tom Felon, House Elf, and Sirius Black fan clubs and a language mod in the Japanese forum.

Aaaaaaaaaaand I have talked for far too long and you are probably overwhelmed by the massive amount of pink, so now it is time to ask me questions! Aw, thank you! I am so glad that we got your story figured out and that is has a new home

As for Japanese...stayed tuned to the Japanese forum here on SS. I am going to be starting up the Japanese lessons again soon so if you want to try and learn some basics you can! I am by no means a certified Japanese instructor, but I will do my best

As to how many posts....this one included will be my 11,183 rd!

I do love LOTR! I attribute that to my father who used to read me the books and do the voices when I was younger. I think...Return of the King was one of the first books that wasn't a children's book that I read. I would read a page out loud (which took a long time) and then my dad would read several. It was his way of helping me learn. Only thing I hated about it was that whenever there was a word that I didn't know the meaning of, he made me look it up in the dictionary instead of just telling me the meaning and it's all about Merry and Pippin!

Hehe. This is going to be a bit of a long story...so here we go!

When I was 10-years-old I turned on the television and found a TV showed called Sailormoon to be playing. Of course, being in America, the show was in English, but there were some things that just didn't make any sense. Shinto, taking off shoes inside the home, school uniforms...so many things that were foreign to me.

So...10-year-old me went to the internet (which was just coming into the cool kids club with Netscape) and found that the show was from Japan and then I just wanted to learn everything that I could about Japan. I did not begin studying Japanese until college, and I actually picked the school because of its study abroad program to Japan.

My host family are the reason I wanted to come back to teach. They became my second family and I still see them often. While I lived with them, I would help my siblings with their English homework, and I also worked as a tutor for Japanese exchange students for all four years of my college education. I also coached soccer in the summer starting when I was 13, so I suppose you could say that I have always known I wanted to do some sort of teaching.

So, my study abroad experience just confirmed that I wanted to work in Japan.

For those wondering, Jun was an added bonus. I had already applied for jobs before we started dating

My job...a Japanese person just cannot do it. At least not those who are in the field. Most students in Japan will never have a native English speaker teach them until college and for pretty much all these children, I am the only foreigner that they will EVER interact with

Um..in all seriousness though, anything Galadriel sings is AMAZING. Her voice sends chills down my spinex Lothlorien & Lothlorien reprise is definitely a favorite. Legolas has a sexy voice as well

My favorite book...is probably a toss up between Goblet of Fire and Half-Blood Prince. Goblet of Fire was a turning point for me in the series. It was the book that made the story seem more severe and exciting since it ended the way it did. Harry Potter jumped out of the little kids book zone for me and into young adult then With Half-Blood Prince...the backstory of Voldemort was fascinating and I just found myself unable to put it down.

With the films...it is a bit more tricky and what I have to ask myself is what scene from all the films stuck with my the most? The answer is ridiculously easy: the depiction of The Prince's Tale. Alan Rickman's performance as Snape in the Deathly Hallows Part II sold it for me.

Okay...so that is a lame reason and I should probably give a more serious one so... Probably Fred or George. I am an only child and was always jealous of those who had siblings. Being able to have a connection with someone the way that those two have with each other is astounding.

Aw, you are too kind I am glad that I give off the youthful vibe - at least I hope that is a good thing...

I do draw I actually have a portfolio here on SS that I seriously need to update Nothing that would get myself published and I do not draw a lot of manga, but I have been known to pick up a pencil and doodle things. I draw a lot of pictures for the classes I teach. Kids relate much better to having Naruto saying what he likes as opposed to a generic face from the textbook.

1. If I were a bear, not sure I would want to be a panda They are cute and all...but being an endangered species isn't something I would like to be...unless it meant that I could HELP the problem. Then I might consider it.

3. YES! I also had to read them in high school for a class. I went to a Catholic all-girl's school, so you can probably imagine.

Hmmm...good question!

There are a lot of wild animals that I like

In the aquatic field, I love harbor seals and sea otters. When I was in high school, I volunteered as a seal trainer and got to work with a harbor seal named Sprouts who was being trained to do simple tricks as well as in a sort of rehabilitation program with hopes that he would be able to be released back into the wild. He had been separated from his mother when he was a pup. I got fishy kisses all the time

In terms of the land animals, I would have to go with some of the ones that I think my patronus would be. The raccoon is definitely one of those critters that I just love. They are so cute! Little bandits after my heart

While they are kind of being domesticated now as pets and I almost got one Sugar Gliders are adorable too!

I also really like pretty much all wild cats. Lynx and tigers are probably two of my favorites from the group, although jaguars, cheetahs, and lions are also high up there as well.

Um, anyway. Living only 6 months of my dream life only to have it taken away in the end would be too sad! My dream is becoming a voice actress and I have only done some joking things for stores and stuff here in Japan, but nothing serious. Almost went to audition for Toy Story 3, but I couldn't take off time from work. Alas.

So, between the two, going back to being 11 and finding out I was a witch and attending Hogwarts for the win! Besides, 6 months as opposed to 7 years...do I really need to think about that?
