Hello to all, but especially to those of you who are joining this wonderful community for the first time *points* Yes, I am talking to you all you newbies *waves* For the month of October I am one of the SS staff members whose brain you can attempt to pick apart who you can get to know.

Before I jump into a mini introduction, I just want to say WELCOME! once again to all of our new members. Maybe you just happened to stumble upon SS, or perhaps you are here by a friend's recommendation. No matter the reason, I hope that you enjoy everything the site as to offer because, well, there is A LOT to enjoy!

*clears throat* Ahem, anyway. I am sweetpinkpixie, but most people here call me Pixie. No, my real name is not Pixie *sorry to disappoint* and I am not a huge fan of Pixie Lott - I just like magical creatures! My real name is Katherine and I live in Japan working as an Assistant English Teacher at two elementary schools and one Jr high school currently. I was born in California and went to university in Oregon where I was a Japanese Studies major with a minor in English. I almost double majored with Computer Science, but my professor made me disenchanted with the subject. Alas.

I just recently got married to my best friend and *gets all mushy* soul mate. Some of my hobbies and interests include graphic design, soccer, translating, and spending far too much time here on SS.

I joined SS a little over a year ago when I was looking up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows events being held in Japan when I saw that SS was in need of someone to go to Tokyo and report on the Deathly Hallows Countdown Event. I was looking up information on a whim and am sure that my finding SS was fate. I have been addicted ever since. So, I joined SS on August 8, 2010 where I dove into the school RP with my current character, Kurumi Hollingberry.

I spend most of my time here on SS in the School RP where I am one of the Gryffindor prefects, Gryffindor Seeker, and a member of the yearbook staff (graphics). I am also the Director of Environmental Rangers over in the Ministry RP (Department of Environmental Regulation & Protection), shopkeeper at the Leaky Cauldron, and was a writer for the Daily Prophet.

Outside of the RP worlds, I am a Fan Fiction mod in the Romance and Character sections, along with co-running the Challenge area. I recently was award a Golden Goblin for my drabbles about the Hogwarts Founders and for my Epic & Adventure story, The Hedwig Chronicles. I am also the graphics officer for the Tom Felon, House Elf, and Sirius Black fan clubs and a language mod in the Japanese forum.

Aaaaaaaaaaand I have talked for far too long and you are probably overwhelmed by the massive amount of pink, so now it is time to ask me questions! As to how I play Quidditch...I set my alarm for 1:30 or 2 am, take a cold shower, drink some hot tea, and try to keep myself focused I really enjoy the MSN chats and teamwork that comes from it, so it is worth missing the hours of sleep. Just wish my reflexes were a bit better at times...I blame the wee hours of the morning

Last term during my first match as Seeker...I literally knocked over my laptop as a flailed around to click on my google search tab

If you want to I think part of the reason I was never called Katie is that there were somewhere around 10 Katherine's in my high school class of 60 girls (small school) and most of them went by Katie or Kat. I was the only one that was Katherine *tehehe*

non-Disney movie....sheesh...that is a tough one! Funny thing is...when I sit down to think about what movies I like...Disney ones are the only ones that come to mind

I'll leave Harry Potter out of the equation for now

Erm...Finding Neverland? Maybe. When I am in for something "more serious" at least. Or...LORD OF THE RINGS! *freaks out about the Hobbit*

The funny thing is, that Jun and I were living together for three years prior to getting married, so it actually doesn't feel much different from when we weren't

Sheesh...this is a tough question!

The first word that comes to mind is support. Jun and I have been best friends for about five years now. During that time, he was always supporting me and being the most stable thing in my life. He never wavered and was always patient. He always listened and was always honest - even when the truth hurt. He never once made me feel like what I was feeling or saying wasn't important. Of course, there were rough patches as well, but he seriously has been my rock.

Now that we are married, I feel that I need to make sure that I am stepping more into the role of supporter. A few months back, I was thinking of changing professors, but that would have been right around the time he was starting his new work. I knew that the stress of both of us in a new environment wouldn't be good, so I passed up much better jobs to make sure that I would be his constant.

I stopped watching Star Trek (the TV show) after Voyager. I started watching Enterprise, but they screwed up the timeline and were changing historical things around too much that it put me off

Um...Spock was one of my first crushes back when I was about five I always liked the smart characters I guess. it was the same in Ninja Turtles too. But I digress. My dad and I would watch The Next Generation together every night, so that series holds a special place in my heart. Great cast, lots of great stories, and decent films. The borg gave me nightmares like no other, but they were my favorite addition to the show. Probably still one of my favorite aspects of Star Trek actually...they are SO FREAKY

If by the new one you mean the movie...then all I can do is flop around with glee and squeal. I absolutely LOVED the film and all the references that were made to the original series. I saw it here in Japan and was clearly the only true trekkie in the audience

I actually took several online quizzes to get an answer. Decided to limit myself to the "original" cast of characters since there are just soooooooooooooo many of them

Apparently, I come down to being a toss up between Goofy and Minnie - if that doesn't give you nightmares...

I have the for lack of a better word goofy side of Goofy and the peacemaker side that always wants everyone to smile and feel comfortable. On the other hand, I share Minnie's overly cute ways and dedication. I also like bows

And my favorite Disney princess...well, now that depends on how you define a princess Some of my most loved heroines were not actual princesses. But...I have always loved Belle and Ariel.

Hiroshima okonomiyaki is very different from the version in my area Both are delicious though! I could eat it every day. In fact...I am going to eat some tonight

I have I saw them years ago when I was an exchange student in Japan, but I couldn't help but compare My Boss My Hero to Gokusen since the premise is very similar.

Ninjas Unless they are going up against Jack Sparrow and then it is all about the pirates.

Now, some terrible movies are FUN to watch, so I will ignore those. Bad horror and monster movies are always good for a laugh anyway! A few that come to mind are From Justin to Kelly, Mission to Mars, most of the Twilight films, and Tales from Earthsea.

Can I pick Jun's? It is just so cute when he tried to speak English these days Erm, but my FAVORITE accent is that of Billy Boyd. I just adore the way he talks!

Favorite ice cream flavor...hmmm...I have always been partial to a good strawberry or black cherry.

I am not sure accomplishment is the right word I would use. To me, an accomplishment is something that you had to work hard towards. Something that took a lot of time and effort to achieve. For my husband and I, it was like our relationship was just given to us with pretty gift wrap and everything.

So, an accomplishment, not really. A blessing, definitely.

Second I'm taking a History of Modern Japan class at my college this semester, so I find it pretty cool to be able to speak with someone that actually lives there

Aw, Kurumi is glad to hear that! She misses Alice and hopes that she is doing well wherever she is

oooooooooooh! I have never been a history person, actually rubbish at it to be honest, but modern Japan is one crazy pot of...crazy Let me know if you ever need current opinions on something - for a project or a paper or whatnot - and I can ask my co-workers and students

Living in Japan, the difference between seasons is AMAZING! I never had this back in California, so I am loving all the seasons...minus summer. It is soooooooooooo hot. I often felt like I was going to melt into the floor.

I love spring here because of the cherry blossoms and an event called Hanami. It is pretty much a giant party with EVERYONE where you have a picnic under a canopy of pink. I also love fall. Back in California, I lived in a redwood forest, so everything was always green. Now, the leaves change color and it is beautiful!

So...it's a toss up between spring and fall, but I am probably more of a spring person

I am not sure if you mean myself 5 years ago or me at age 5...so I will just cover both of those.

To myself 5 years ago: do NOT hold a kiwi in the palm of your have while cutting it with a new knife on your first day of work. It will only result in you calling your boss, having him ask if you put a band aid on the cut which is ridiculous since you cut down to the bone, being taken to the hospital where you will get six stitches in your finger, and STILL have to go to work after words.

To my 5 year old self: listen to your parents. They know what they are talking about.

I have a HP related question this time: What animal do you think your Patronus would take and why (ie- because of your personality or because there is some trait or something that characterizes you)?

Yeah...it was kind of insane. When I called my boss about where the nearest hospital was - since it was only three days after I had move to Japan - he really did ask me over the phone if I had put a band aid on it. I wanted to kick him...

Goooooooooood question. I have actually been thinking a lot about them recently since it is almost time for Kurumi to be able to produce one herself. A few animals pop to mind for myself...

• Cat -I have always loved cats, so this is more of a decision based on personal bias. However, the cat as a totem represents a guardian of homes and a blessing on newborns - coming from Roman and Norse mythology. As a teacher, I feel these two traits speak a lot to me. They are also said to be very watchful.
• Hedgehog - they are often a symbol of the ability to be able to take care of themselves and are known to represent intuition and protection when used as a totem. Since living on my own, these are things that I attribute more to myself. That...and who wouldn't want an adorable silvery hedgehog running around?!
• Seahorse - there is so much symbolism and mythology across all cultures involving the seahorse that I have always been fascinated with it! In some cultures, they are believed to be sea dragons. In Europe, it was once believed that seahorses carried the souls of deceased sailors to the underworld - giving them safe passage and protection
• Raccoon - ever since I was young, my family had "pet" raccoons. We fed them every night and they would knock on the door for food. I have always loved these little bandits. They are curious, just like I am, and make sure that everything is clean - which I find super cute.

Having never played actual Quidditch [the muggle kind] I cannot really say which one I like. Now, if I could play REAL wizarding Quidditch, soccer might be in trouble.

NAME?! Wow...I've never really thought about that. First ones that come to mind are probably the ones that I dislike namely the names for ALL the Potter children.

Hmmm...Probably Sirius Orion Black. As to why...allow me to simply copy and paste from HP wiki.

The name "Sirius Black" is a pun on his Animagus form of a black dog, as the star Sirius is known as the Dog Star, and is the brightest star in Canis Major, the Great Dog constellation.
