Hello to all, but especially to those of you who are joining this wonderful community for the first time *points* Yes, I am talking to you all you newbies *waves* For the month of October I am one of the SS staff members whose brain you can attempt to pick apart who you can get to know.
Before I jump into a mini introduction, I just want to say WELCOME! once again to all of our new members. Maybe you just happened to stumble upon SS, or perhaps you are here by a friend's recommendation. No matter the reason, I hope that you enjoy everything the site as to offer because, well, there is A LOT to enjoy!
*clears throat* Ahem, anyway. I am sweetpinkpixie, but most people here call me Pixie. No, my real name is not Pixie *sorry to disappoint* and I am not a huge fan of Pixie Lott - I just like magical creatures! My real name is Katherine and I live in Japan working as an Assistant English Teacher at two elementary schools and one Jr high school currently. I was born in California and went to university in Oregon where I was a Japanese Studies major with a minor in English. I almost double majored with Computer Science, but my professor made me disenchanted with the subject. Alas.
I just recently got married to my best friend and *gets all mushy* soul mate. Some of my hobbies and interests include graphic design, soccer, translating, and spending far too much time here on SS.
I joined SS a little over a year ago when I was looking up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows events being held in Japan when I saw that SS was in need of someone to go to Tokyo and report on the Deathly Hallows Countdown Event. I was looking up information on a whim and am sure that my finding SS was fate. I have been addicted ever since. So, I joined SS on August 8, 2010 where I dove into the school RP with my current character, Kurumi Hollingberry.
I spend most of my time here on SS in the School RP where I am one of the Gryffindor prefects, Gryffindor Seeker, and a member of the yearbook staff (graphics). I am also the Director of Environmental Rangers over in the Ministry RP (Department of Environmental Regulation & Protection), shopkeeper at the Leaky Cauldron, and was a writer for the Daily Prophet.
Outside of the RP worlds, I am a Fan Fiction mod in the Romance and Character sections, along with co-running the Challenge area. I recently was award a Golden Goblin for my drabbles about the Hogwarts Founders and for my Epic & Adventure story, The Hedwig Chronicles. I am also the graphics officer for the Tom Felon, House Elf, and Sirius Black fan clubs and a language mod in the Japanese forum.
Aaaaaaaaaaand I have talked for far too long and you are probably overwhelmed by the massive amount of pink, so now it is time to ask me questions! Erm, to be honest...completely surreal I can remember one of my first posts on SS being in the Meet Orchideae thread - yep, Jess had that username at the time. Never really thought that I would one day have one of my own, but it is a real honor and I am so glad that I stuck around

You would be surprised how often I hear that comment I am 100% American - born and raised in California with a 5 year hiatus in New Mexico. As a little random tidbit, I DO have a little Native American blood in mebut I know that isn't what you meant, so moving along
THANK YOU! The ceremony and reception took place at Tokyo Disney Sea - was actually all my husband's idea to get married there. I picked a good one! Japan certainly has a lot of interesting things and a fascinating culture I am still learning new things everyday!
Scabior and Sierra actually Erm, some of Kurumi's knowledge comes from my own. Astronomy, for example, is something that I have been fascinated in since I was about 10 and, growing up the daughter of a NASA engineer, there was a lot of talk about it and camps that I went to (SPACE CAMP!!!). Mostly though, I do research on the internet *pets google*

I suppose this has a lot to do with my work schedule. As I mentioned, I am an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan which, depending on the school, can mean that you are just taking up space as the resident foreigner in the room so that Japanese children see you and realize that "hey! foreigners are not just in the movies!" I kid you not. You would be amazed at the mentality in this country sometimes.
So...that being said, my work schedule is from 8:15 until 4:00 with spans of free time throughout the day. As you can see from this alone, I have LOTS of free time. After work, I do my grocery shopping on the way home (pass several supermarkets on my bike) and I am home no later than 4:30 or 5 each day.

It feels awesome to walk around with two wands I keep one in my left boot and the other in a nifty device under my sleeves - won't tell you which one though
*ahem* BUT, in all seriousness, it was a bit o______________O at first as I tried to get used to everything, but now it is a lot of fun and I am just happy to be able to give back to the community that has already given me so much *squishes you all*
Soccer teams...I don't suppose listing off some Japanese ones would really be helpful but will anyway. My prefecture has a team called Urawa Red Diamonds that I used to follow UNTIL my favorite player went to a different prefecture to play. So, now I am more rooting for Nagoya Grampus with a little of Osaka Gamba on the side
In terms of European teams...you really can't go wrong with the Champions League. Arsenal...Chelsea...
Although, I did tear up a bit when Yuto Nagatomo joined Inter and helped them win the Italian Cup *wibbles*

If I could, I would live entirely off fruit which would be a bad thing for my body as well as my wallet since fruit is expensive in Japan.
Hmm...I already think that strawberries are pretty perfect, but if I could combine fruits...
the size and color of a strawberry (and a little flavor)
the sweetness and juicyness of a ripe peach
the slight tartness of a raspberry
the texture and slight flavor of a mango
the crispness of a Japanese pear

Would you believe that at my high school there were 10 Katherines in a class of 70 and I was the only one who went by Katherine Um, on the soccer pitch I was often called by my last name at the time, Fricks, since Katherine is too long. I was never really a Kat...but some people did call me Kath - started by my British soccer coach.
Right now, I am called Kyasa by all my Japanese friends since the way you pronounce my name is Kyasarin. Other than that...names I am called on an almost daily basis are Kyasarin-sensei or just sensei (sensei is the Japanese word for teacher).
Pixie is actually only my nickname on SS and was given to me by Pinky one day when we were in a group chat on MSN It just stuck.

1) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOkay...this is a long one
I suppose overall I have always loved Sailormoon herself. I've costplayed her and she was the most fun to perform as on stage when I entered competitions yes, now you all know another level of my nerdy-self
However, the Starlights always intrigued me as well.
Um...I also have a soft spot for Sailormars (hence why Kitagawa Keiko is my model for Kurumi). Especially in Pretty Guardian Sailormoon, her character intrigued me and I also liked her in the manga. In that drama, Sailor Dark Mercury was also pretty darn awesome!
2) Surprisingly, not pink although I do like it. I am partial to pastels and especially canary yellow and sky blue. Most of my wardrobe is blue actually...
3) Sheesh...that is a hard one! The reason it is so hard is that I owe A LOT to Sailormoon. Sailormoon is the reason I became interested in Japan and wanted to learn about the language and culture. Honestly, if 10-year-old me hadn't turned on the TV at 7 AM and seen it on TV, I wouldn't be where I am right now. I wouldn't have picked the college that I did, and therefore wouldn't have met the man I married, and I wouldn't have the job I have now.
So...there is A LOT weighing against HP right now.
That being said, the community I feel from HP cannot be compared. No where on the internet have I found anything even remotely close to what SS is.
In the end, I think it comes down to what I can sit down and watch over and over again. I can only take so many youma made from tennis balls or clay pots being defeated by Pink Sugar Heart Attacks. Watching Severus Snape steal a scene I could watch over and over again.

Anyway, Pokemon. I am PROUD to say that I watched Pokemon back when there were the original 551 Pokemon! Now, I have ALWAYS loved Pikachu, so I will forever be a fan of that electric mouse. I even have a talking stuffed animal of Pikachu *squishes*
However, if I were to pick another, it would be Mew. NOT Mew II, just Mew. I own the first movie on VHS and I fell in love with the squeaky physic mouse. The movie even made me cry. Yep, I cried in a Pokemon movie

Anyway...yeah...my favorite aspect of astronomy...I guess in a general sense, I LOVE how it is always evolving and there is always something new to discover and explore. I dunno, whenever I think of astronomy, the first thing that pops into my mind are the infamous words of Captain James T Kirk：
"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the star ship Enterprise... It's continuing mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before..."
It always spoke to me not so much as JUST space...but astronomy itself
If you wanted something more specific...I always leaned more towards planetary science, stellar astronomy, and extragalactic astronomy

Hmmm...to appease my fangirl side, I really would have to say that one person I would LOVE to sit down to a meal with would be Snape. He was one of my favorite characters from the start because he seemed so complex (and was!). Although...our conversation would probably be kind of depressing
Another choice would HAVE to be Luna. I suppose she would be the one doing most of the talking and me just listening all wide-eyed and bushy tailed, hanging on ever word she says. Being a magical creature nerd myself, I imagine that is all we would talking about

Erm...I am probably the wrong person to ask about handbags. The only bag I ever use is my pink ADIDAS bag that looks like this:
I don't need anything fancy, just as long as it is sturdy, holds my stuff, and has enough pockets I am a happy camper. Oh, I also have to have a shoulder strap...I like my hands to be free.

My favorite pie is HANDS DOWN my mother's lemon meringue pie. While shops and restaurants will sell it, I have never tasted anything as delicious as the ones she makes. She used to make them on my birthday each year...and I am really missing them now that I live so far away now
What's not to like about sporks? Japan seems to have a lack of them though...don't get them very often...
SNAPE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IN THE HARRY POTTER SERIES! And I would like to point out that I like him BEFORE we got all the juicy information in the final book. All that back story and revelations just made me love him even more I really should write a ridiculous amount about this, but my brain is turning off since it is late...Perhaps I shall return to this subject later

I have, and always will be, a soccer fan. I started playing when I was five and was on competative teams all the way through college where I started showing signs of arthritis in my knees and could no longer play at that level. I still kick the ball around with friends and will wake up at ridiculous hours to watch international matches. Staying awake for the World Cup matches was intense...3 am or 4 am kick off. I was a zombie at work, but they all forgave me since they know that there is no way I would miss a match

I already sort of answered this one indirectly, but I will go into a little more detail and declare my love to the world!!
My favorite character is Severus Snape. From the first book, he was the character that you loved to hate and could never figure out. I love complex characters and ones that do not fit a cookie cutter mold. Snape proved to be one of those characters time and time again, leaving it until the last minute for you to get confirmation on what you may, or may not have been suspecting the entire time. He is constantly contradictory but strangely always the same, sophisticated but grotesque, unconventionally beautiful, different, and never disappointing although suffers quite a few disappointments - among other things.
My love for the character only intensified when the brilliant Alan Rickman was casted. This signaled to me even more that the character was deep and one to keep an eye on.
