Sup, Newbies?




They call me Touz around these parts and most of the time I answer to it. I'm the Site Manager here on SnitchSeeker, and that basically means... err you know, I manage the site. If you have problems, concerns, thoughts, suggestions, questions, compliments or cake you can insert those into my inbox.

I joined this site in 2003 and have been wandering about ever since. I was first hired on to be a Professor in the Hogwarts RPG, where I taught for 16 terms (I'm totally guessing, but that sounds about right) and I will occasionally still dabble in teaching . You can find me in the other SS Wizarding World RPGs, too.

Off the site, I'm a marine scientist and recently graduated with a M.S. degree. If I could bring my offsite likes ON-site, I would. But marine science and Harry Potter don't often jibe. Tragic.

So you may of already Answered this but is being a marine scientist the same as a marine biologist? When i was in elementry school, a long long time ago i wanted to be a marine biologist but joined the army instead but i am still interested in the sea life

Egad. I hate cold water too. And cold in general. I don't DO cold water. Luckily I live somewhere warm and haven't had to get in the water too much.

1. Favorite micro-organism is probably ... crab megalopae. Which is just a sciencey word for one of the young phases for crabs. I don't have a real reason for their being my favorite other than I counted out like THOUSANDS of them last summer. They're cute. hehe

2. Uhmm... Magneto, maybe. Or Mary Poppins.

3. I'm pro stepping on crunchy leaves. I vote yes.

I chose marine biology because... it was available...? Haha I don't have a good answer for this. I didn't know WHAT I wanted to DO (still dont. Do you have suggestions...? haha), saw this marine science program, signed up, and here we are.

Hufflpuff. Though I am OVERTLY prideful of my 'Claw-ness and have Claw-ish ways, I think I've grown into more of a Puff with age. Initially, there was NO DOUBT to my nerdy-foaming at the mouth over grades-geekdom. But these days.... I could chill with the Puffs. I DEFINITELY am not a Gryffindor.

Hmm. Haha I got interested in marine science specifically when I started grad school in a marine science program. I wasn't pre-destined to be a marine scientist, but now that I am I have no complaints. Fascinating stuff. I just knew I wanted to be SOMETHING ecology/enviromental-y.

And FOREVER? It feels like forever. I was in college from 2003-2011.

I like book 6 because it's purple!. It was just enjoyable to read. And I'm a sucker for the girly lovey dovey stuff in it hehe. Book 3 is a close second, but to be honest - it's REALLY hard to beat the first book. I almost don't compare the 1st one to the rest. It's kind of in a league of its own, introducing us to everything.

No stinkin' dolphins, no! haha Man. I do work with the less glorified critters - like fish, for sure, and plankton. I'd like to do MORE work with the coastal wetlands and salt marshes and marine policy/permitting.

Marine science encompasses more. Like, I had to take physical and chemical oceanography. I took permitting, coastal zone management, and fisheries classes. General oceanography.

You can still probably do marine bio with the Army! NOAA has jobs for sure, or the Army Corps of Engineers [then get me a job too!].

It was hard for me (and still is occasionally) because I had very little prior knowledge. Freshwater studies ftw, you know? But I suppose all things are hard initially. If you have the interest, you'll do fine. MMhmm.

I feel like my answer for this is going to change depending on what I'm doing. Right now, I sort of wish I was a bear in the dead of winter. Then I could be hibernating. But in a general sense, let's go with Galapagos tortoise. Or a flying squirrel.

Hmmmmm! Right now it's The Glades. Is it too soon to declare Game of Thrones the best show ever? I enjoyed The Sopranos a lot a lot, and How I Met Your Mother is a must.

As for Draco - haha. I can't say I really feel much sympathy or empathy for him. In my opinion, he'd rather not be fighting anyone at all. Slytherins are lovers, not fighters Lulz.

I have nothing, concrete or otherwise, on kicking the procrastinating. I was President of the Procrastination Club...

I have marine bio friends that would loathe me for answering with "SHARKS" (but come on, SCARY, right? Right). But a lionfish is pretty creeptastic. And a lion's mane jelly (GIANT beasts).

But the MOST scary to me, though thankfully we don't have them in US - sea snakes. O. M. G. I'd NEVER go in the ocean EVER EVER EVER no way, nuh uh.

Hmmm. I think I enjoy it because... It's still new. I didn't grow up near the ocean, but moved near one and started learning. And, marine science is all so relevant. Everything that happens in the ocean affects us.

This hasn't been asked, and I'm not entirely sure there is a straight answer for it. I'm just bossy, I guess? haha I've been adminned since Jan '05, where I took the role as Forum Manager for several, several years. Biochemkris, the former site manager, and I have always worked together... and when life caught up with her, I just stepped in. But running this site is very, very, very much a team effort. The admins and mods are amazing and I'm continually impressed with the success of this site.

I did not help design the site, that Dumbledore the site owner and designer, but I do think I had a finger or two in making the site be what it is today .

So like, my 2nd year of college - we held a Halloween party on campus. And... so I went and bought a Mary Catherine Gallagher costume and a cape and some knee socks. Essentially, this get up made me a Slytherin student. I rocked it. Much cheaper than the ACTUAL Hogwarts robes haha.

I dressed up another time as a HP character, but it wasn't for H'ween .

HI you! Hehe Gosh. Some of these are hard questions that I feel like I should spend time pondering. But how about I just answer on the fly? K? K.

1. I just finished my lecture notes for tomorrow, got dressed up for no reason whatsoever, and treated myself to take out pizza. I'd say I'm having a PRETTY good day. =D

2. I almost always choose some form of chocolate. But this one summer, Publix released a banana pudding ice cream and it was BY FAR the best ice cream I've ever had. They didn't release it this year and made me saaaaaaaad faced. <__<

3. Errrm... haha. Hmm. I'll give you a hybrid. If Cedric Diggory and Luna Lovegood had a lovechild, I'd be like them. Interpret that as you will.

4. I would spend it on your last question - going places. After I bought a house back "home" and put a good chunk up.

5. Where wouldn't I GO? I'm a go'er. I want to go everywhere and see everything. My best friend and I are saving for Paris though.

It might fun to just hang with ALL the Dept Heads. You know? When they get together, hilarity always ensues.

You know, all my birthday memories are good ones. This one time, all my pals made Flat!Touz cutouts and took Flat!Touz out around where they all lived and took pictures of Flat!Touz WITH them, DOING things with them. hehe Ern organized that. It was awesome.

Best RP... Hmmm. One of the best RPs Ive been apart was when Cela broke up with Plymouth. I think everyone cried? Everyone read it. It was hardcore. It also got deleted =/. But more recently, hehe, I will always love Jim and Tune's VERY Ravenclaw Rune War. ...or the time Lainey took the Girl's of Belle School back to Hogwarts...
