2016: Meet emjay

Hey guys!

I'm known as MJ around here and I'm really excited to be one of your Meet and Greet Mods this month!

I've been a member of Snitchseeker since June 2008 and I've held various positions around the site in that time. I was on the RPG school staff as History of Magic professor for several terms (six or seven?) and I was recently made a mod again to help with the Newbie Forum (where we are right now ) and Knockturn Alley, where many opportunities for role-playing can be had. Currently, I am one of the Department Heads in the Ministry RPG (and that character was my very first school character way back in 2008, lol) and one of the Shopkeepers in the Diagon Alley RPG. I also RP a fourth year Hufflepuff in the school RPG - can you tell that the RPG is my favorite place on site? XD But we do have many, many other great things here that I love as well.

Off-site, I am the mother to two boys and I work as an art teacher for middle school and high school. Even though I do have a dog, I've been a cat person my entire life. We just got our third kitty who we named Draco. I'm also a Netflix addict, so if you have a good suggestion for shows to watch (in addition to your question!), please let me know! And that's enough about me for now, because I want you guys to have something to ask! Make sure it's within our site rules and not too personal... but I'm friendly, I promise, so ask away!

Well, really, it's tough for me to pick just one because I have favorites for different situations. I have a pair of slip on Skechers that I love so much because they're kind of casual and slip on easily... but now they have a hole in them since I wear them so much when I'm not at work so I should probably get a new pair.

I also really love my wedge sandals because they're super cute, but I can't always wear heels... and I have some nice classy but casual shoes I wear pretty much every day for work. They were a nice find because they are kind of dressy - so good for work - but also really comfortable - so good for MJ's feet.

LOL, well, I'm glad you came to visit after I did...

Oh gosh, that's tough because I'm not much of a reader anymore... When I was younger, I loved Stephen King and I've been meaning to read his work again. I'm a big fan of Kurt Vonnegut and Chuck Palahniuk in more recent times though... so I'd probably pick any of theirs as a favorite. It's hard to pick one definitive one though.

Hey there!

1. I really like Half-Blood Prince because I felt like the general mood was a little more grown up, even if there was a lot of angst from the teenagers. I found that one fairly exciting with some of the things that went on too. It's been a while since I read them though; I should probably go back and do that again lol.

2. Probably George Weasley.. though I love both the Weasley twins.. I have found slight differences between the two and like George slightly better

3. Okay, favorite is hard. It's hard for me to pick just one of anything for any of these! LOL. In general though, I tend to prefer pink, purple, or blue. But grey is my favorite color to wear and I am always the red game piece.

4. Favorite.. hmm.. I don't know! Gosh, I'm terrible at answering questions, aren't I? I guess I sometimes tend to use actors I like for face claims of my characters, and now I just have River Phoenix stuck in my head, lol... but I did like the work he did, even if he probably wasn't my favorite.

5. Maybe something that involves watching Netflix all day... are they hiring?

1. I don't have many scars, but my most prominent and the one that comes to mind is on my leg. I was in a pretty bad car accident when I was 17 and I got that as a souvenir.

2. I sure do... one of my college apartments was haunted by a ghost named Jacob.

3. I suppose I'm proud of the 4.0 I got when I went back to school to get my teaching certificate. I didn't get near that with my Bachelor's degree.

4. Physical attribute? I like my green eyes a whole lot. Green eyes are really rare, y'know.

5. Lol, I was a weird teenager, but that was a long time ago for me to remember, haha! I was constantly listening to my walkman though (that's what we had way back when) and spent a lot of time daydreaming about Kirk Hammett

6. Yeah, there are a few things that I've watched that probably aren't appropriate to talk about here that have really opened my eyes about things... But besides that I do remember reading a biography of Abraham Lincoln for some library challenge game that made me think he was even more amazing than I thought

1. Aw, that's so sweet that they make you think of me... I don't like all of their songs, but you know I like Closer. I think my favorite of theirs, though, is Don't Let Me Down featuring Daya. Did you know she's from Pittsburgh?

2. I think a lot of our characters must have at least a little bit of some part of our personalities since they come from our brains. But I think the one that is most like me would be Brynn. She's lame and boring just like me. Nah, I'm kidding But I do see a lot of similarities, especially in how I would respond to things when I was her age, minus the musical aptitude of course.

3. I think I did hear that somewhere... I'm just not sure why, I'm like the worst person here, lol. But seriously, yes, and you are one of my faves too

1. I think Golden Girls, because I have definitely noticed that absence. Even though I have seen them all, I could watch that all the time and I don't have cable anymore so I miss it. OH! And Life Goes On.... I saw something that reminded me of that show the other day. I haven't seen it in forever and would love to watch it again. Plus it would be nice if 12 Monkeys was on there too.

2. YAS. Primanti's Big Fish and Cheese, my favorite. I love eating fish, but no. I am not an outdoors person at all. Someone else can catch it for me.

3. Hmm, tough one. Maybe one where I am not thinking about what I have to have ready for Monday :/ A day where I could just create a piece of art without worrying about a deadline, organize a room, and watch tv or a movie with my kids, maybe play a game with them too. I might try to squeeze in some computer time in there too lol. Oh, and I wouldn't be cooking that weekend either.

While I've enjoyed getting to know a little about you and it seems that we have quite a few things in common, please remember that this thread is a place to ask me a question to get to know me better.

It is really important to follow the rules while in the Newbie Forum and on your way to achieving member status. And in my post, it does state that non-question posts will be deleted, so I will have to delete your post. But ask me a question and we're all good. 2. Oh that's a good question. Probably someone like Katie Bell, someone kind of in the background of the main story but still supporting everyone and still an integral part of the plot. I forget why I liked her so much though, I need to reread.

Well, I'm certainly no expert on Gellert Grindelwald, that's for sure. But I am super excited of his presence in the Fantastic Beasts series! We'll definitely learn more about him through this, I am sure.

I am actually a Ravenclaw at heart, and that was where I was sorted eight years ago. But I did re-sort into Hufflepuff to play my current character because that is the house where he belongs, and I do love playing a Hufflepuff.

Veterans of life, I love that! haha..

Ooh, questions that make me really think... let's see how good my memory is, hmm? And I am sure I am leaving out so much, lol. But here are some things that I can mention here...

2010s
Favorites: Netflix (and pretty much all of their original shows); advancing technology - specifically my smart phone, faster internet, my fire stick, 3D movies, some social media; Amazon prime; being able to order pizza on my computer; twenty one pilots

Non-favorites: As much as I love advancing technology I hate how dependent I feel like many of us are on it; 2016 was a pretty terrible year (except for Fantastic Beasts); omg so much music I hate

2000s
Favorites: my babies; scrapbooking (I feel like it was huge this decade and I was really into it, even working on some design teams); Harry Potter!; digital cameras; digital music; Lost - I was obsessed with that show; Arrested Development

Non-favorites: US housing bubble; I feel like a lot of bad things happened during this decade that I can't really talk much about here; and I can't remember much else though I am sure there are fashion trends that I didn't like such as sagging pants or music like Mambo #5

1990s
Favorites: the Grunge scene (esp Nirvana); Freaks and Geeks; The Simpsons; the internet; Ren and Stimpy; caller ID; Thursday night line-up on NBC - Friends, Seinfeld, ER; MTV shows like The State, Daria, Just Say Julie, Remote Control

Non-favorites: Y2K hysteria; flannel; the sound dial-up modems make; I feel like I need to put more here but I can't remember...

1980s
Favorites: allll the music!; Saturday morning cartoons were the best back then - we had a lot of the Sid and Marty Krofft shows in reruns (I think they were originally done in the 70s), the Smurfs, Justice League, JEM; so many classic toys - Rubik's Cube, Atari, Cabbage Patch dolls, Strawberry Shortcake, Trivial Pursuit; early computers and dot-matrix printers; walkmans; I loved neon, jelly bracelets, and jelly shoes at the time, but they should probably be in the non-faves now, haha

Non-favorites: Valley girls; popped collars; shoulder pads; big hair; I'm sure there is so much more if I really think about it..

I did really enjoy teaching it in the RPG, but I suppose if I were a student myself, I would enjoy Charms and Transfiguration just because I'd think spells were pretty awesome. My current student likes those two plus Care of Magical Creatures the best.
