What is your favorite Canadian city? As a Canadian myself I've travelled from coast to coast to coast and agree it's pretty fantastic.

I've really only been to one big city (a couple of times) so the answer is I'm not sure. I really want to visit Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto to see some more.

We live in upstate New York, about 100 miles south of the Canadian border with Québec and Ontario. You expressed an interest in Canada. Which areas? It is a BIG country! :-)

My job here on SS: the nerd of it all, and the awesome community. My real life job: it's so challenging, it's a bit different every day, fun, cute at times but sad too.

Lovely to meet you!
I am also a fangirl for Canada. I'm deeply in love with Vancouver, but have a crush on the whole country and on much of its music, media, and actors.
What do you love about Canada? Have you spent time there?

Me too! About the country, music and such. I love a lot of things about it. One of my top 4 fav bands ever is from there. And the hockey... And the place itself is so beautiful. And for the most part the people are laid back and similar to Aussies. Same sort of humour. I'm also biased though in that some of my favourite people in the world live there, so that adds to the reasons I love it so much. I have been there twice so far. The first time was part of a multiple place trip, so I was there for only 9 days I think. The second time I was there for about 4 weeks. I'm actually wearing a Canada shirt I got over there right now. On Australia day hehehe.

Oooh books. Well. I'm trying to branch out a little more at the moment, read things that I wouldn't normally read as I have always trended towards fantasy and young adult. Have recently found some very amazing, sometimes life changing books but they tend to be one offs. There are very few that I have found as special as HP though, that was... it changed a lot of things for me for lots of different reasons, not just because of the actual books themselves either.
I do really love J.R.R. Tolkien, especially The Hobbit. Divergent by Veronica Roth was the best YA book (and one of the best books in general) I read last year. The next one comes out in May I think. The Hunger Games is great, and I enjoy the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini of which the final book came out a few months ago. The Messenger by Markus Zusack and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky were excellent. I recently completed The Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson and it was hard to get into at first, then I thoroughly enjoyed them. I just allowed myself a short journey back to YA land by reading The Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, simple entertaining reads. But now I am back onto reading more adult fiction. I am currently reading the Yiddish Policeman's Union by Micahel Chabon.
What do you like?

Hi Dainsie
You seemed to express a love of books, and so do I! I'm very jealous of your Australian summer - I live in England and its cold and miserable - I need a little sun in my life! I saw that you like Tolkien and thought maybe that I could recommend a series of books for you: they are the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, and starts with one of my favourite non-HP books, Wizard's First Rule. I really think you'd enjoy it
Where abouts in Aus are you from? Do you take part in any sports at all?

They've been on my 'to read' list for years, but I have seen the movies. I'm not sure if the movie versions are a true representation of the characters or not though. I only watched the third one the other day, and I have to say that was my favourite of the 3. I like Lucy, and the mouse dude, and I think the white witch is awesome but that's only really because of Tilda Swinton. Quote:

I guess most people say the beach and the weather, but I'm not really into either of those things, I struggle with the heat. I don't know if I can define it. I DO love it here, but right now I can think of more negative things than good due to some crazy happenings round here lately. Quote:

My favourite genre of books tends to be fantasy/science fiction, but I also like espionage and crime novels, and just random books that have interesting relationships in them. Quote:

Kahlan You can have my Australian summer, I'd switch you in a heartbeat! I like cold weather better and I love rain. OOh, I also love it when I get book recommendations, I'll try to see if I can get hold of them. I have heard of that author before but not read anything of theirs. Thank you! =]
I live sort of mid NSW on the east coast. I use to play a lot of different sports like netball and soccer (I know, football) but not so much anymore. I need to get back into one. Do you?

xxAnne I have never been to Europe but the places I would like to visit the most should I go there would be Denmark and Sweden. And my favourite Canadian artists (I'm asuming you mean music?) are Tegan and Sara, but there are heaps of great and wonderful artists and bands from there that I like.
