Hello, hello, hello! I’m Michelle, preferably Chelle or Chellie, and I’m so excited to be doing Meet your Mod for the months of May and June!

I found Harry potter when I was about 8. My friend had recently seen Chamber of Secrets and was telling me about it, and I thought it sounded SO cool so I jumped straight into watching movie number 2. I am… terrified of snakes, so I actually had nightmares for a bit. In an effort to get me over my fear, my older brother handed me the book for Sorcerer’s Stone and told me to start at the beginning and read through all the available books. I was hooked from then on!

My obsession with the magical world then led me to searching for fan sites, which is how I stumbled upon Snitchseeker back in 2007. I was just shy of 13 when I found this community and had never heard of an online RPG but I LOVED reading and writing my own stories so this seemed right up my alley. I joined and jumped right into RPing, mainly in what is now our St. Mungo’s forums. I’ve taken a lot of breaks because of life, but I always seem to find my way back to this community!

My most recent return to SS which was in 2020 during the start of the pandemic is when I have most really thrown myself into the RPG and getting involved wherever I could. Currently I am volunteering in positions of Yearbook House Elf, Ministry of Magic Department Head, Diagon Alley Proprietor and Mod for the Number 4 Privet Drive and Honeydukes forums. Previously I was really tickled to also get to play in Term 60 as the CoMC Professor!

When it comes to offline, I am a mom to two human children and one furbaby and work in management in a finance adjacent field. I love to read, watch asian dramas, listen to music and work on art projects with my kiddos. I’d much rather be spending all of my time traveling but that’s not been in the cards yet. Maybe one day when my kids are grown and gone

What's your dream travel destination for when the kids are grown and you can get to explore the world?

I'm also always curious, as someone with so many different characters, where do you get your inspiration from? And what is the character-building process like for you?

The downfalls of talking to me so much xD

1. So it's REALLY hard to pick since most of the songs on his playlist also have special meaning for me but... probably Wasn't Expecting That by Jamie Lawson. I loved this song from the moment I heard it, and husband and I actually used it as our first dance as a married couple at our wedding!
2. Truthfully it's been so long since I've listened to them, the only name I remember is Charlie Scene
3. I am terrible and have not picked up a pencil since Seektober ended! But this is a good reminder it never hurts to step back and doodle!
4. Once we eventually move out of our apartment I would consider a dog for sure, but I think I'm good with the one cat!

So my husband and I have this dream of road tripping and hitting as many of the National Parks in the States as we can. Considering there are SO many, I doubt we'll ever get to them all but the ones I'd most like to see (at this moment) are Denali National Park in Alaska and Carlsbad Cavern in New Mexico.

As for characters, this is a tough one! My process is pretty much consistently to not have a set process I've always found the more I try to plan a character, the more frustrated I get because the moment I play them they start to flip the script on me. So I'll usually pick one point to start at, which is the inspiration and also generally pretty random. Sometimes it's a specific personality trait, sometimes their name, sometimes the face - once I've found at least one thing I'll usually just open a google doc and keep typing until I can pick their voice out clearly.

1. Scrapbooking! I used to scrapbook with my mom and I've thought about making scrapbooks of the kids but .. what I didn't realize as a kid was how pricey all the materials are. slowly I'm building up a collection though!

2. Getting out of my house lmao I work from home full time and don't really have a lot of reasons to leave. The gym forces me to go out and sometimes I even meet up with a friend and we work out and get coffee and it's a pleasant change of pace!

3. This one is hard. I think I want the power to control weather, like Storm from the X-man. How cool would it be to start your own rainstorm everytime insomnia hits? Lol

My favorite character has to be Winky. I love all of the house elves, but something about her was so endearing! I was incredibly distraught when she was cut from the movies lol And for color? Pretty much any shade of blue, though I tend to lean teals.

I am trying DESPERATELY hard to get them to love it And my mother in law lives nearby and is also a Potterhead so she and I tag team on this quest lol My daughter will halfway pay attention and my son likes to flip through the books (I got them the illustrated ones for that purpose!) But if I try to read it to them? Forget about it.
