I get most of my books from Amazon and read them on my Kindle. But when I do buy physical copies of books, they're usually impulse buys from my local supermarket or from charity shops lol. Or I look on Book Depository if I'm really wanting a specific book.

I would love to start supporting more independent book stores, though!

We have an independent bookstore in town that I looooove to visit because it's got 30+ tiny rooms winding all over this old house, and each room is a different genre. I always try to buy something there when I visit. There are some other independent stores in town, including a used bookstore that was in an old church (it closed recently, which is a bummer), but I don't buy books very often.

I do most of my reading on my Kindle, and I love to check out ebooks from the local library system. There used to be a lot of limitations to this - they only carried certain publishers in the early days - but it's pretty expansive now.

Book depository bc it has free worldwide delivery and you can easily pick editions or covers, and its a decent place to get textbooks as well. Being in NZ, importing anything is waaaay $$$ so the free delivery plus lower unit prices is a bit of a lifesaver for me

Otherwise I stick to second hand bookshops or the library at least until I find books that I want to rererereread over and over

I use the library for everything, and I read it on my phone on the Libby app. If one library doesn't have it, the other one I have an e-card to does. I even get textbooks from the uni library--- there's only a handful of us in this program, and I've been able to avoid buying a textbook for the last year or so since I figured out that the school carries the book. I nab it before anyone else can check it out.

I'm also a fan of ordering books for my classroom library (purchased by the school) that have been highly recommended, but which I haven't read yet. That's one very very small perk to being an English teacher.

I prefer to get physical copies of the book when I can, but I also choose to get my Amazon packages delivered at a later date because they almost always have promos for credits towards digital items when you do that, including most books. I like to always have at least one or two books on my Kindle app so I can read on my lunch break at work - it's just easier than lugging a book around!

Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!

For awhile I did Book of the Month, which recommends books every month you can order. Then I had too many unread books so I had to stop...

Recently I've been trying to get books locally, I just ordered a few from a local place that does shipping! I like my local places because they often have both new and barely used books. It's nice to be able to browse the physical books.

Kindle seems very convenient. I have read some booktwt reviews about kindle, but the e-reader quite pricey here I only have Kindle app on my phone for Libby though, for e-books I mostly got from Google Playbooks and Scribd (since my account is free at least until May 2021 )

SPOILER!!: indie bookstores

There are not many indie bookstores who provided English book here, sadly most of them are selling local books from indie publishers. I'd loved to buy some books from them but sometimes their book are so limited and the price is higher than the big store.

For bookstore that provided international books, there are three big stores here with variants of books and prices and if you're lucky, you can find good deals on each of them. They also provided pre-order for new books and most times if the book is not available on store, they will help us to get the book from the publisher. Usually it takes until 30 days until we can get our book but since covid, it'll take longer (idk how long exactly because I haven't made an order with this option yet).

Another option? BOOK BAZAAR! The most famous one in SEA is Big Bad Wolf, most of their books are like USD 5-7 per book, I got my Percy Jackson (UK edition) boxset for just USD 15 and hardback books are like USD 5.5 only.

also there are some personal shopper who helped us ordering books from websites like Amazon, Waterstones, Blackwells etc with extra fee obviously. I never tried it because it is too pricey.

Book depository! I tried ordering from them for the first time and it took a month-ish from dispatched date for my books to arrive. I do like that they have free worldwide shipping, but the no tracking system kinda makes me feel anxious. I mean, I'm lucky I live in a satellite city near the capital though because a friend of mine still hasn't received any of her package since October and she lives in a small town.

How long does it take to ship to NZ btw?

Libby is a live safer. Sadly Indonesia's national library is not integrated yet with Libby (and their collection sucks).

Another team Kindle!

I kinda jealous for US and UK peeps because of Amazon the shipping from Amazon to Indonesia is so freaking expensive (and sometimes it costs more than the purchase) so that's why there are some people on booktwt community are like "hey let's order together, then we'll split the shipping and import fee."

I remember as a kid there was a local book store called readmore and it was amazing, they sold coffee and magazines and books, and it was lovely. It went out of business when I was about 13 years old and I've been trying to find a new place to buy locally since then.

Currently I use Kindle and when I don't use kindle I'm using libby.

I just get my books online and read them on my Ipad or through audiobooks from the library. Im also currently reading at the moment The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien and moving on to Lord of the Rings series. I think they are a fantastic read!
