Default The Book Seekers Reading Challenge 2024

The Book Seekers Reading Challenge 2024

Welcome to The Book Seekers' fifth annual reading challenge! For 2024, we're doing something a little different.

Instead of just one prompt list, this year you will find six different lists of prompts, each assigned to a different member of the six Dumbledore's Army members who fought at the Department of Mysteries.

To take on this challenge, you are invited to pick the list you are most inspired by, and complete the prompts on that list. You could take a personality quiz to inform your decision, or pick your favourite of the characters, choose at random, whatever you want to do. You might even decide to tackle multiple prompt lists - or all of them! - it is entirely up to you.

There are 8 prompts per list, but you do not need to complete all of them to "win". For taking part in this reading challenge - regardless of how many prompts you complete - you will be given an accolade on your SnitchSeeker profile. There are additional prizes for those who manage to complete more, however, and for those who complete every prompt in a challenge, and who complete the prompts in multiple challenges.

Please note! For those of you who choose to tackle multiple prompt lists, the prompt 'Read a book recommended by a SnitchSeeker member', which appears on every list, need only be completed once in total. This means once you have completed this prompt the first time, it can also apply to each list you're tackling (but you can, of course, choose to complete the prompt more than once).

At the end of the year, we'll be tallying up completed prompts and completed lists per character, and see who - Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Neville, or Luna - 'wins'.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
  • Post in THIS thread: "I solemnly swear that I am up for this challenge! "
  • That same post will become your reading log for the challenge.
  • Record which prompts you have completed and the books (title and author) you read for them by editing them into your post.
  • Please make sure it's clear whether the prompt is COMPLETED or IN PROGRESS.
  • Have fun!

GUIDELINES & OTHER INFORMATION:
  • You MUST read a different book for each prompt, unless otherwise stated. We encourage you to read books that you haven't read before, too, but this isn't a rule, and some prompts will even direct you towards re-reads.
  • For those tackling multiple prompt lists, the prompt 'Read a book recommended by a SnitchSeeker member', which appears on every list, need only be completed once in total.
  • You can sign up for the challenge at any point during the year. Any books that you have read during 2024 can count towards this challenge.
  • This is NOT a discussion thread. The Book Nook is, though, and these are some of the things we encourage you to post about there:
    • Discussion relating to TBS Reading Challenge
    • Sharing and asking for book recommendations for the prompts

Now, the moment you've all been waiting for...

THE PROMPT LISTS
Quote:
  • Harry Potter
    SPOILER!!: Harry Potter

    • Read any book, but only read when the moon is up

    • Read a book recommended by a SnitchSeeker member

As always, several of these prompts are up to interpretation. If you believe a book fits a prompt and you can rationalise it to yourself, then it counts.
If you have any queries, send a private message to Bazinga, Felixir, or Lissy Longbottom.

Happy reading!
