| | | 'Good Omens' by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (Sa13+) Welcome to The Book Seekers' first Book of the Month discussion! If you don't know what Book of the Month is, there's more information here, but in a nutshell it is a monthly event during which we all read the same book and discuss it here.
As you can see, this month we're reading Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett! Age Rating | Sa13+ Genre | Fantasy Summary from Goodreads | According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.
So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth's mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture.
And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist... Let's go over some ground rules... - All Book Club Rules and SnitchSeeker Board Rules apply in this forum.
- You can discuss ANYTHING that is related to Good Omens in here. However, it must be kept SPOILER FREE until July 15th. Any spoiler-y things must be put under a spoiler tag. Remember that other people might not have read as far along as you.
- Any posts that contain spoilers (that aren't under spoiler tags) will be edited by a Book Club mod.
- On July 15th, a more structured discussion will start. At this point, spoilers WILL be allowed. This discussion will continue (officially) until August 11th. That being said, the thread will remain open for everyone to discuss the book after the main discussion is over.
There's more? There is! While we're reading and discussing Good Omens, there are other related things that you can get involved with. - Feeling inspired? Contribute some Good Omens fanart to our new Bookish Fan Art thread.
- If you're feeling really, really inspired, you could try your hand at designing an alternative pair of book covers for Good Omens. You can use whichever medium you want. It can be inspired by the TV adaptation. Post them in this thread and/or the Bookish Fan Art thread.
- Submit Good Omens related posts to our Tumblr!
If you have issues or queries, contact Harron Peasley, natekka or Stormdancer – and don't forget that you can still nominate books for future Book of the Months! Ready, Set, Read! |

I actually like the frequent changes to perspective. There are a LOT of characters, but I don't feel like I struggle to remember who people are, and they (mostly) all endear themselves to me.
Favorite quotes: Quote:
25 And the Lord spake unto the Angel that guarded the eastern gate, saying 'Where is the flaming sword that was given unto thee?'
26 And the Angel said, 'I had it here only a moment ago, I must have put it down some where, forget my own head next.'
27 And the Lord did not ask him again.
Quote:
Most books on witchcraft will tell you that witches work naked. This is because most books on witchcraft are written by men.
And I generally love all the tapes becoming Queen albums, the quivering house plants that Crowley terrorizes, Dog the Hellhound wanting to just enjoy being a dog DARNIT, the four horsemen's taglongs who keep changing their names, and so many other little details.

Okay so I'll definitely be back with a more profound review (maybe; definitely with favorite quotes though because I marked them while reading) but for now:
THANK YOU @ WHOEVER SUGGESTED THIS BOOK FOR BOTM! I loved it so much and I honestly just want to start reading it all over. And I also watched the TV series which was also awesome imo but the book omg I haven't stopped talking about it with my friends either. I think I'm making everyone around me read this book now.
