Hi SS friends! Back in the challenge arena to take on a new challenge... I am ready and PUMPED to take on the SS25 Challenge for my most recent Hogwarts graduate! I was originally going to do Lisa Nam (my current charrie) but I just couldn't ignore Noah deserving his own drabble challenge so here we are. Welcome to Noah Nam's 25 Records Challenge. Or as he almost had me call it - 25 Tunes for Minjae Yoon's Ultimate Wingman.

She became flustered. "I... We talked. It was nice."

As if on cue, Christian walked past them. Noah followed Aboli's gaze to the boy who was oblivious to her feelings. He frowned before clearing his throat.

"He's not worth it... You need a nice guy..." Like... Heck. Who was nice that he knew? Lightbulb moment. "How about Minjae?"

Her eyes widened at the thought and he saw the excitement grow. Noah smiled, simultaneously excited and envious.

Weird.

Crinkled linen tea towel lazily hung over his shoulder, he began cleaning up espresso machines before he stopped himself and saw his reflection in the nearest mirror. He was shocked at the dark circles under his eyes. Sure, he was working overtime to save up for a post-seventh year jaunt but still.... He looked old. He chuckled, fished his phone out of his pocket, opened up his texts, and hovered over a name. Inkeri.

Click. Black screen. Loud Sigh.

That bridge was burned. No point in going back to mend it even if he had given that advice to others.

He never had many friends at Illvermorny. Noah had many acquaintances ... but friends? Hardly.

So he wanted to transfer. It'd be a fresh start. New Noah. Which filter would he choose? The quiet boy or the incredible dancer? He had tried on many different personas at home - only to find - that none of them really stuck.

Eventually he found his people. And Like every stereotypical American teenage drama, he experienced true friendship, first love, & heartbreak.

Happiness was a light but was soon snuffed out.

The flame was lit again. A new happiness was found thanks to Minjae and Aboli.

They had met at Florean's. He stood in front of the counter looking like a complete goof. He didn't know what to order. Kimmie Amstern made a suggestion.

Boba.

Intriguing.

“That means I’ll have to convince you to buy me another ice cream. Should I take your name down just in case?" Noah teased.

"Careful there, sir. Flirty sounded sentences can give a girl the wrong idea."

He paused and blushed. “I... I... We barely know each other… You don’t expect me to start proposing to you now, do you?” he joked unintentionally before realizing that he was being flirty.

Aboli didn't like him. He was pretty sure that she hated him after their first interaction. Even after he had helped her get her luscious hair unstuck from the compartment door. He instantly thought she was pretty. Dark hair, bright eyes, pouty lips.

Well I was sitting, waiting, wishing

Then maybe you'd see the signs


However, the next time that she saw him thoroughly threw him through a loop. She was oh SO happy to see him but she didn't want to hug or touch him. And what were those gloves for?!!?

She surprised him in the end and he treasured their friendship.

..........Besides she'd never look at a guy like him.

Noah watched the minute hand slowly tick, tick, tick forward. A loud sigh as fingers ruffled through his hair, messing up the perfect style. He kept on replaying his last conversation with Kimmie where he had been honest with her about his feelings towards Aboli. Kimmie rushed off. He bit his lip.

Fairly certain that she hates me.

The clock struck nine. It was time to close. He picked up his tea towel and began cleaning the establishment, letting his thoughts haunt him. Seventh year was going to suck if Aboli didn't speak to him. At least he had Minjae.

But don't you know that only fools are satisfied?

Fight.

There was no way that Noah was going to stay in the Spare Office. Not after everything that happened. Not after his best friend had vanished before his eyes. He was going to fight even if it was the last thing he was going to do.

He turned to Aboli. "For Minjae," he whispered before kissing the top of her head and then hugging his little brother. "Stay. I'll be back. I promise."

Then he ran off into the battle with his girlfriend at his side.

He had been right in his lower abdomen. He felt an intense searing pain wash over his very being. It started slowly but exponentially grew in levels until it was unbearable. Noah shut his eyes. His wand and his body hit the hard ground at the same time.

Searing pain caused his muscles to seize and him to crouch over. Every single cell was on fire. Uncontrollable tears rolled down his face as he tried to fight back but failed. He bit his lip, drawing blood as his body involuntarily shook. Fleeting images passed through his mind. He felt sick.

But innocence is gone

Noah was fried.

Even though the Healers had worked on remedying the after effects of the Crucio, he still felt weak. He'd lost a lot of weight over the past year and it had only continued after being tortured.

Mentally and emotionally he was back. Physically? No.

He had tried to resume his studies for his NETWS but it wasn't working. He lacked the ability to stay awake. Any task that he did now drained him even more than it ever did before. At least twice or thrice than usual.

He was drowning in the waters of his own thoughts.

This was the first time that he was looking forward to heading back to school. Illvermorny had never felt like home but Hogwarts was different. He had made friendships, had awkward teenager moments, had his first kiss, and more.. So many strong memories as he stepped onto the Hogwarts Express.

“Noah!” He turned and found Islay poking her head out of a compartment with a wicked smirk. He saw Inkeri, Chloe, Ronan (a groan), Matty, and Kimmie already there.

“Heya Is.” He joined her in the compartment. Laughter was heard as stories were told.

He was on his way. Home.

The first lie was easy. It didn’t mean anything. But once he lied, the lies became easier and easier.

His siblings asked him questions about his final year at Hogwarts.

He was fine. No need to worry. He reassured them.

However, he was fading away and he couldn’t see that they saw through it.

Becoming thinner and thinner. Refusing to finish meals and instead sleeping the pain away throughout the day as he could not sleep.

It wasn’t until Kimberly stopped by his family house, concern evident across her face, that he realized that he was in pain and lying.

Blonde hair, bright eyes, flirtatious smile, and infectious laughter.

He couldn’t bring himself to talk to her.

She was always surrounded by the arrogant blonde boy or the sultry dancer. Always surrounded. Never alone.

Teeth tugging on lip.

He kept his head down and focused on his studies, ignoring the gossip of who was dating who. But he often found himself staring at the beautiful Thunderbird who sat with all her friends.

Oops. He was staring. Cheeks flushed. Head down. Time to work.

He was no one but maybe just maybe one day she’d see him like she saw her.

It was nice to find someone who looked like him. It was tough being from a different country than England but also feeling like he didn’t fit in with his home country of South Korea. Within a few days of being at Hogwarts, Noah had found his best mate. Minjae Yoon.

It was a camaraderie that the Gryffindor needed. Someone so much like him but yet so different. A lifelong friend. And if Noah were to marry, Minjae would be his best man. In the meantime, Noah stuck to making posters to help his friend’s love life. The forever wingman.

Being the eldest was challenging.

He felt the need to always be right, perfect, and just. A good role model too.

He had to show no fear. He had to encourage his siblings to keep trying even when he was terrified. He was the eldest. It wasn’t an ask. It was an expectation.

He had magic. Weird magic. Something he didn’t understand.

It cast an error in the hypothesis.

But he recovered and planned on still being the best older brother that he could be. He needed to be. His siblings counted on him consistently to be a role model.

Just dream about that moment

When he was stressed, all he felt like doing was dancing. He needs to get out of his mind. There was an endless doom loop of physical feelings and emotional wearings. So he was much happier to live in the present and focus on cake and other things.

He has been used to living in the past and future. Meanwhile he was here now and ready to live in the present. He’d rock out to the latest song, dance to the newest music video, and discuss with his friends. He would dance his heart out. No permission needed to dance.

As he broke down in tears in front of his Appa, Noah wondered what his father thought of him.

Failure, the worst son ever, dropkick, womanizer, etc. Hurtful names plus more (not mentioned) swirled around him like the wind picking up in a tornado. Harsh wind, pulling and pushing objects very similar to himself pushing and pulling emotions. Did he love her? Yes. Did he want a life with her? Yes. Was it right? No, it certainly didn’t feel right.

He broke into tears and began hiccuping. For the first moment, he felt lost once again. Sad, hurt, heartbroken, lost.

Fingers intertwined with Kimmie, he watched this mess unfold. Both bride and groom were an attractive match for each other - two perfect specimens of veela handsomeness and beauty rolled into a couple. He watched Inkeri walk down the aisle but his gaze halted when he saw Chloe's face. She had been trying to keep a happy face but her eyes... Her beautiful baby blue eyes gave away her emotion. Noah diverted his eyes, mumbling something to Kimmie before glancing back at the wedding.

Emotions rising within.

"I OBJECT!"


Silence filled the room.......

Noah Nam had, unintentionally, just opened Pandora's Box.

Stolen kisses and secretive glances. Noah Nam was falling hard. Soon he and Kimmie started to become an almost sort of thing - that was before Ronan, the wicked destroyer, came crashing in.

Ronan and Noah had a complicated relationship. Despite being complete opposites, several of their values aligned even if neither one would admit it. Too stubborn they were. Islay, consistently team RONAN AND NOAH should be friends, would be a constant supporter of the two reconciling to get along for the sake of the group.

Ronan's altercation with Noah was the catalyst for Kimmie and Noah starting to date.

Noah was on his lunch break from his summer job at the local cafe. Sandwich in hand, he read his novel on the grass in the local park enjoying the rare British sunshine.

Hurried footsteps approached him, jolting him from his novel. Warm honey eyes found bright blue. “Aboli?”

“Hi.”

“Wanna join? I have crisps.” Book placed on the soft grass, he reached into his bag to hand her the crisps. As he turned back to her, he noticed that she was in deep thought. “Aboli?” Eyebrows raised expectantly.

Her next words, however, caught him off guard.

“I like you.”

The second time he saw Kimmie after the break up was in the corridors late at night.

She looked tired. Something was wrong. He knew that. They nodded to each other. He fought the knee jerk action to ask her the question on the tip of his tongue but couldn’t wait any longer.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.”

He knew that wasn’t true.

“I think that’s a lie.”

“Why should you care?”

“I…” So many words he longed to say to her. He froze. Speechless.

She was his first love. He knew her all too well. And she knew him.

Were he and Ronan actually getting along in this moment? Noah glanced around the group, locking eyes with Islay momentarily. Eyes conveyed pure shock. Dreaming, he was, right? Pinch me, he mouthed, before trying to listen to the remainder of the conversation.

How had they become friendly? Noah didn’t know. They were opposites. Noah was logical and patient. Ronan was explosive and passionate. They bickered constantly like an old married couple. Matty, however, was able to intervene and make them “tolerate” each other.

The root of the issue was that Noah didn’t trust Ronan.

Could the two ever be friends?

He kept falling in and out of consciousness. Oblivious to the concerned looks from his parents.

Lisa had shrieked when the car stopped, “LAND HO!” and ran out of the car. He looked and felt like a zombie. The back rub from Appa woke him up from the trance. “I can help Evan with your tent if you’re not feeling up to it.”

Head shake. “I got it.” Fake smile.

He didn’t have it down. It led to him hurting his hand. He was useless. He hated this.

Arms wrapped around him. “Noah.”

Sobs errupted from the broken boy.

Moments of the summer before sixth year flashed through his mind. Noah spent most of it with Kimmie (obviously), Inkeri (which unfortunately meant Ronan was the tag along), Chloe, Islay, and Matty (buffers between him and Ronan).

It wasn’t as bad as what he thought it’d be.

The best night of that summer was spent at a carnival. Enjoying cotton candy dissolving into sugary nothingness, laughing as they danced to their own songs, racing to the bumper car line, and the photo booth shenanigans.

They looked so happy back then. Those were the whimsical days of their youth.

Adulthood waited.

Everything they did was constantly monitored. Noah was constantly on edge.

“Let’s relax while we can?”

She shouldn’t have ended up in the room. She wasn’t muggleborn. He turned to look at Aboli before glancing back at the Hoods. He tried to wipe the worry off his face by smiling. “Enjoy the sunshine while we can?”

“I’m so tired, Noah.”

“I am too.” He glanced at her, wishing that he could kiss her but not wishing to endanger her by an affectionate action. “You can’t give up, okay? We’re going to celebrate your 18th. Together. I promise you, Aboli.”

The older he got, the more sentimental he became. His siblings were getting older. Evan was going to be a seventh year next year. Merlin. Maya was the beauty of the Nam family. And Lisa? Fortunately Lisa was still Lisa.

Deep breath. No need to be emotional.

Staring at his reflection in the mirror, he tied his tie before picking up a photograph on his chest of drawers. His heart swelled with pride as he smiled at them- his family. He then tucked the photograph into his suit pocket before tapping it. His family was always close to his heart.
