Draco wandered the halls of Malfoy Manor, trying to find something to do. He was bored, and he had already practiced Quidditch that morning. So instead, he roamed his home in the hope of stumbling across something of interest.
Such as his father’s wand, for instance.
There it was, lying innocently on the cupboard in the hallway, abandoned and inviting to be used. Glancing furtively around, Draco ensured the hallway was empty before he approached and picked it up. A shower of sparks emerged when he waved it around.
Suddenly, a certain spell he had read about recently came to mind. Smirking, he raised the wand, deciding this was the perfect moment to discover the spell’s secret.
“ Morsmorde”, he murmured, and watched a green skull spurt form the end of the wand, and a snake slither out of its mouth. A symbol of sorts - but what did it signify? He would have to research that later when…
“Draco!” his Father’s yell shattered the silence as he appeared at the other end of the hallway. Oh, great, now I’m done for, Draco thought.
He still wasn’t sure what the spell meant, though.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus An Experiment 11. Expecto Patronum
He walked along the school grounds, keeping an eye out for the dark hoods of the guards. The Dementors were everywhere, what with Sirius Black still on the loose, and Draco wasn’t at all sure he wanted to run into one.
“Come on, if Scarhead could do it, so can you,” Blaise read his friend’s worried expression easily, and sought to reassure him. Besides, the dark-haired Slytherin had never seen a Patronus up close – excluding the one Potter had sent at them during the Quidditch game the day earlier. He wanted to see one, badly, and he wanted to see if Draco could actually perform the spell.
They could find no Boggart to practice on, and so had chosen to take a walk.
One which ended up with a hooded companion right opposite them.
“OK, here it goes!” Draco muttered, narrowing his eyes as he recalled the moment when he received his first broom, on his ninth birthday. Flight had always been his passion.
“Expecto Patronum!” he yelled, directing his wand at the monster approaching them.
A silvery bat flew at the Dementor, blinding the two boys. When they opened their eyes again, the guard was gone.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Merely a Disagreement 32. Petrificus Totalus
“Come on, Draco, you can do it!”
“Get on with it, Blaise, show him who the better wizard is!”
The cheering Slytherins gathered in a circle surrounding the two friends as they prepared for a Wizarding Duel. What had started as a small disagreement concerning Quidditch teams (Blaise was all for the Bulgarians and Krum, whereas Draco supported the Chudley Canons) had now developed into a row involving almost the entire House.
“You ready, Blaise?” Draco sneered, brandishing his wand.
“That’s for you to find out,” Blaise smirked, withdrawing his own magical instrument.
They circled each other slowly, brown eyes fixed on grey ones, enjoying the attention they received from the silent crowd.
Suddenly, Draco’s arm shot out as a spell left his lips. “Petrificus Totalus!” he shouted, watching with satisfaction as Blaise’s body went as stiff as a board, and he collapsed onto the stone floor of the dungeons.
This should teach them all not to mess with the one and only Draco Malfoy.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Christmas Present 20. Knitting Charm
Draco walked into the cold Slytherin common room, a bored expression gracing his features as he looked around for some first or second year to tease. Fortunately for them, most were already asleep, and so escaped the blond night-owl on his hunt for entertainment.
A certain other fifth-year, however, did not have that much luck.
“Pansy? What are you-” Draco froze, staring at the single occupied seat next to the fire, and the balls of coloured tread on the chair next to the girl.
Then, his grey eyes moved to the quietly clacking needles, working under the skillfully applied Knitting Charm. His mouth fell open.
“You knit?” he asked incredulously.
“I, uh…” she stammered, blushing. Fancy a Slytherin being caught using the knitting charm.
Pansy was close friends with Draco – but not that close that she could trust him with a secret of this magnitude; she loved to knit. In fact, the sweater the needles were just clicking about was meant to be his Christmas present.
With a grown of despair and resignation, she grabbed her things and rushed off to the girls’ dormitory without a backward glance, leaving a baffled and slightly amused Draco observing the levitating needles with interest.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus A Lesson in Manners 6. Crucio
He heard his mother’s pleading voice before he saw her. The landing steps gave way to a dark corridor, at the end of which he could see the light of his father’s wand, illuminating the cowering silhouette of his mother.
He was going to torture her again.
“Father?” he asked, his voice weaker than he wanted it to be. Dammit, why couldn’t he force himself to be strong and confident when it mattered? He could only act in front of those weaker than him, those Draco knew would never hurt him. But when his father was around… well, all his courage flew out the window.
“Not now, Draco,” the cold voice answered.
“But Father, please, don’t…”
“Don’t tell me what to do, you impudent little sneak!” the blond wizard swung around at his teenage son, wand pointed. “You need a lesson in manners, Draco. Crucio!”
The screams of anguish of mother and son mingled in the dark recesses of the Manor as the house elves went about their work, doing their best to pretend that nothing had happened.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus A Safer Place 33. Point Me
The Forbidden Forest was more sinister at night than Draco had thought. He remembered the terror of having detention there back in first year, of course, but this time was… spookier.
“Safer place, right,” he muttered under his breath, cursing his godfather in his mind. Snape had lured him out into the Forest, claming that it was safer to educate him in the Dark Arts than in the castle. He was right, Draco supposed, but it didn’t make the journey to or form the castle any easier on the sixth-year.
“And Father, promising me to his Dark Lord like that,” the blond ranted to himself. “Now I’m forced to learn the very thing I hate; Dark Magic. And perform a task I obviously won’t do. I mean, who the hell can kill the headmaster of Hog-”
A sound in the undergrowth cut him off. Swallowing nervously, he laid his wand flat on his palm and checked the direction in which he was going one more time, just in case.
“Point me,” he muttered.
He wasn’t lost, thank God, and sighed in relief when this realization hit him. Still cursing, he continued on his way to the castle.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Suspicions 28. Nox
Draco inched along the dark corridor silently, careful not to make a sound. The last thing he wanted was to get caught while spying on his godfather, who he supposedly trusted. Supposedly, of course, being the key word here.
Yet he had to know what was happening, which side Severus was on. Draco knew full well that were he to fail in this mission that the Dark Lord trusted him with in his sixth year, he would most probably never live to see his seventh. And so, although he despised himself for what he was plotting to do, he knew the job must be done. There was something fishy going on between Snape and Dumbledore, he was sure of it, and he would find out exactly what that was so that his plan would not be ruined.
The thin ray of light from his wand illuminated the corridor before him, and as he turned a corner, he suddenly heard voices whispering in the blackness.
“Nox,” he muttered. He remained still as a statue, listening to his godfather confer with the greatest wizard of all, the one Draco was sent to kill. Albus Dumbldore.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus An Image to Maintain 49. Wingardium Leviosa
Draco laughed at the puny third-year’s attempts to disentangle himself from the floor. Dennis Creevey looked up at his tormentor fearfully, trying hard to pull a brave face, but failing dismally.
“That should teach you that eavesdropping is a punishable crime,” the Prefect sneered, but Dennis noticed, with some surprise, that the grey eyes staring back at him weren’t as cold as his expression.
“I-I didn’t mean to!” the younger boy stuttered. Colin had asked him to do it, hoping to learn something about Draco that would make him shine in his idol Harry Potter’s eyes.
Draco was perfectly aware of the fact that this hadn’t been Dennis’ idea. Truth be told, he felt rather sorry for the Gryffindor, but he had an image of a Slytherin to maintain. A Malfoy, at that. And if rumour spread throughout the school that he, Draco Malfoy, caught a third-year Gryffindor eavesdropping, and did nothing about it, all that would be shot to hell.
“Wingardium Leviosa”, he muttered, guiding the boy’s bag up into the air. His features remained expressionless as he let it drop and scatter on the stone floor.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus A Loud Fright 40. Sonorus
Draco still remembered the first Quidditch game he had ever seen. His father had taken him to a match which fell right on the day of his fifth birthday. At age five, he had only a rudimentary grasp of the rules of Quidditch, and often found himself muddled up throughout the game as a result.
His most vivid memory, though, was of the beginning.
“Morning, Lucius,” the commentator greeted his father with a smile. “Ah, and this must be Draco?”
“Good morning,” Draco muttered, clutching at his father’s robe discreetly.
“Let’s go take our seats, Draco,” Lucius said, with a smile at his friend, and pulled his son along. As they walked away, the boy heard the wizard behind them mutter “Sonorus” under his breath. They had barely sat when the loudest noise Draco had ever heard resounded around them, causing the child to jump up in his seat, eyes wide open in fright.
“He’s going to be commenting the game, Draco, it’s normal. Ignore him,” was all that Lucius said, narrowing his eyes at his son’s display of fear.
Draco had learned early in is life that Lucius was not an understanding man.

“What’s happened, Granger, can’t reach it?” Draco sneered at the Gryffindor girl.
They were in the Library, near the Restricted Section. Barely anybody else was around, seeing as it was almost the en of the year and most students preferred to spend their lunch hour roaming the grounds outside. Not the two brightest students of the year, however.
Hermione was just having some trouble reaching a certain book when Draco happened to stumble across her. He couldn’t help but poke fun at her, of course.
“Not that it’s any of your business, Malfoy,” she retorted, frowning.
Draco didn’t answer, but instead pointed his wand at the shelf with something resembling a smile playing across his lips. “Accio, he whispered, and the desired book came flying into his hands.
“No need to thank me,” he said, handing the book to her and spinning around on his heel, leaving an open-mouthed Hermione staring at his back.
Had Draco Malfoy just been civil towards Hermione Granger? This just had to be the happening of the year.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Flying Paused 3. Braking Charm
The air whooshed by Draco’s ears as he sped around the pitch, reveling in the freedom hat flying granted him. He loved the sensation of racing with the wind, of feeling the broom beneath him, carrying him away to wherever he decided, leaving everything he hated, all his worries, far behind.
He glanced down in between the other Slytherin Quidditch players, and noticed the Gryffindor team approaching. Oh, they really wouldn’t like the fact that his team managed to steal the pitch for practice that morning….
He could see Marcus Flint discussing the matter with Oliver. It was their last year, and animosity between them was worse than ever.
He noticed the two Weasley Beaters glancing up at him, and frowned. To say that Draco was scared of them would be a grand overstatement, but he certainly remained cautious when they were around.
“What the-” he almost fell off his broom as it suddenly braked, for no apparent reason. His hands slipped, but he managed to right himself, and looked below him. The twins were roaring with laughter, and Draco realized what they’d just done.
“Typical. The Braking Charm,” he muttered angrily.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Draco exclaimed, a livid expression darkening his features.
He had just cornered Hermione Granger going through his bag. Or, what he though was his bag, anyway.
“Excuse me?” she retorted, swirling around.
“I said, what do you think you are doing? That’s my bag.” He glared at her angrily.
“Your bag? Oh, I don’t think so, Malfoy,” she smirked at him, which irritated the blond no end.
His eyes still narrowed, Draco took a close look at the object in question, and realized his mistake. This was not, indeed, his bag, but Hermione’s – although it looked almost exactly the same. Hence his mistake.
Not knowing how to come out of this situation without losing face, he simply turned on his heel with a snarl, about to walk off, but Hermione’s amused voice stopped him in his tracks, her words making him clap his hands to his ears in horror.
“You should know better than to turn your back on a Gryffindor, Malfoy. It might just cost you a Twitchy Ears Hex.”

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus "Thought you could do with a Laugh" 38. Rictusempra
Draco stormed down the corridor, furious at himself for having lost a Quidditch match to Potter again. Then, he heard someone exit a classroom behind him.
“Rictusempra!” said a male voice.
The blond gasped as a tickling sensation overwhelmed him, trying desperately to retrieve his wand from his Quidditch robes. Owing to the involuntary convulsions his body was having, this proved to be rather difficult.
Finally locating the magical instrument, he muttered a counter-curse and swiveled around to find a chortling pair of Weasleys.
“Thought you could do with some cheering up, you know, after the match,” one of the twins said. Draco wasn’t sure which one, though – they looked the same to him.
“Don’t beat yourself up about it, though, I probably wouldn’t have seen the snitch if it had been circling my head, either,” the other one added, and with a laugh, they both vanished into the classroom.
Draco turned back to the route he had previously chosen with a snarl of anger. He didn’t need reminding that this match had been a perfect rerun of the one in second year.
Except this time there’d been no rogue Bludger to break Potter’s arm.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Cloak of Darkness 9. Disapparate
The blond Slytherin strode across the grounds, his silvery hair covered by a dark cloak to conceal his identity and make him more difficult to spot in the darkness of the night. He was moving away form the castle, in the direction of the gates which led to Hogsmeade. He wasn’t supposed to be doing this, of course, but Snape had shown him how to leave the school grounds in this manner without getting caught.
At times it really did pay off to have close acquaintances on the staff, Draco thought grimly. Or simply people working on the same Side as you.
Once free of the old magic protecting the school and disabling any sort of apparition inside it, Draco breathed a sigh of relief and retrieved his wand. Muttering under his breath, he turned on the spot and disapparated swiftly.
He never noticed the yellow eyes watching him from the undergrowth, or the ginger cat that now sprang across to the grounds and beyond the gates. This certain specimen of its race the seemed to know more about what was happening at the castle than any other being there.
Well, maybe apart from the Headmaster.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Head Student Responsibilities 42. Silencio
“Blaise, you have tot take it seriously! This isn’t a game, we have responsibilities!” Hermione Granger’s voice resounded in the quiet library.
Draco shook his head and sighed as he approached them, feeling sorry for his best friend and current Head Boy, Blaise Zabini. He seemed to constantly get yelled at by the Head Girl for not taking their responsibilities seriously enough. It was enough to drive any guy mad – Draco was surprised Blaise hadn’t hexed her yet.
“Give him a break already, Granger,” he drawled, stepping out from behind a bookshelf. “Just because you can’t sit still for five minutes and treat every teacher’s word like it’s the Bible doesn’t mean you have to enforce that on everyone else.”
“Oh, I don’t remember asking you for an opinion, Malfoy” she spat back, her temper already flaring. “In fact, I-“
But what she was about to say Draco never found out, for at that moment his patience snapped. He whipped out his wand, pointing it at the wide-eyed girl.
“ Silencio” he muttered, smirking with satisfaction at the fury this simple word and wand movement resulted in.

Peeves cackled manically as he floated of down the corridor, leaving the pink gum protruding from the lock which led to the Slytherin common room. Oh how, he loved being a pest in Hogwarts.
Draco was just leading a bunch of first-years from the Great Hall after the Sorting ceremony. It was his responsibility, after all, as a new Prefect. And it also gave him a certain power he absolutely loved having over the majority of other students in Hogwarts.
“Dragon blood” he said clearly, fully expecting the entrance to the common room to swing open, a bored expression on his pale features.
This soon turned into a grimace of confusion and anger, as nothing happened. The first years all began mumbling among themselves, and Draco frowned them into silence; it was only when he turned back around that he noticed the gum.
“Peeves, you rotter,” he breathed. “Waddiwasi,” he swished his wand at the lock, and let the gum fly out of the nearby open window. There was a collective “Oooh” from his first-year audience.
“Useful spell to remember, that,” Draco smirked as he led them into the common room, unknowingly repeating his old DADA professor from third year, almost word for word.

Draco frowned at Blaise, still suspicious of his friend, no matter how much he wanted to believe the black haired Slytherin.
Blaise had just poured out his heart to the youngest Malfoy, admitting to his fear of joining the Death Eaters, of wanting to back out, but having no idea how to do it. He was a firm believer of the Light side, but had nobody to tell – sort of like Sirius during his Hogwarts years, Draco thought.
And now, Blaise wanted Draco to join forces with him and become spies against Voldemort.
“They’ll kill us if they find out,” Draco told him seriously. He was sorely tempted to accept the offer, however – he had no desire to have the deaths of innocent people on his conscience in the near future. Or ever, in fact.
“That’s why they won’t,” Blaise assured him. “The Unbreakable Vow. That way we won’t be able to tell them about both of us being involved even if one of us gets caught.”
Draco swallowed at that last sentence, but nodded. He knew Blaise was right. This was the only way.

The couple walked by him, talking in hushed tones, laughing quietly. Their affection for each other was obvious, and Draco found himself, once again, jealous of Potter for the love he shared with the youngest Weasley.
His parents had never declared love for each other, and Draco had grown up knowing only little affection from his mother, and virtually none from his father. But recently in Hogwarts he began noticing many couples who were so much in love it was almost sickening. He himself had had many girls, of course, but he never felt more than lust towards them.
They stopped at the edge of the path, almost out of sight but not quite, as if taunting the blond.
“Orchideous,” he heard Harry mutter, and a bouquet of red roses grew from the tip of his wand. They ended up in Ginny’s hand as she leaned over to kiss her boyfriend her eyes bright with emotion.
Oh, yes. There were times that Draco wished he would meet his One and Only, too.

He couldn’t believe it. Potter had managed to weasel his way out of he Dark Lord’s hands yet again, just when Draco had been sure that his rival had been gotten rid of already. Not that he necessarily desired anybody’s death, but the fourteen year old really did think that life without the Boy-Who-Lived browsing the castle corridors would be more pleasant.
Yet now the raven haired boy was standing right by him, bag slung over his shoulder, chatting with his friends. This just wasn’t fair.
“How about…” the blond smiled as an idea popped into his head. Drawing his wand slowly, he aimed it discreetly at Harry, who was standing by the entrance to the Potions classroom.
“Diffindo!” he muttered, and watched with satisfaction as Harry’s bag split open, scattering all its contents.
Harry’s expression was absolutely murderous as he gazed around for the culprit, and Draco half expected the other boy to draw his wand when their eyes met. But then…
“Five points from Gryffindor for utter carelessness, Potter,” drawled the voice of the Potions master as the professor unlocked the classroom doors with a click.

She was begging, the cut on her forehead bleeding as she tried to win her life. Draco stared at her, an expression of horror and incredulity on his features, listening to her rasping, pleading voice.
“There is no more use for you,” the voice from beneath the hood declared. “I have no need for traitors. Dispose of her.”
The cruel command was greeted with grunts of satisfaction and a brightening of the eyes half-hidden by the black masks of the Death Eaters. They’re actually enjoying themselves, Draco thought, disgusted.
As their hooded leader stepped back, he pointed at one of his servants. At once, the chosen on moved forward, drawing his wand.
“No, please! I can help, I can act as a spy for you, My Lord, you don’t have to-”
“Avada Kedavra!”
Her pitiful wails were cut off by the flash of emerald light. When Draco opened his eyes, having closed them to shield his eyesight from the sudden brightness, he found himself staring at a pale, cold corpse.
Feeling sick, he felt for the first time something he had never felt before, and something he most certainly didn’t want to feel again. He felt utterly and completely helpless.

“Draco, we need to talk,” Pansy whispered, her eyes looking frightened on her pale face.
The blond sighed with resignation. He had thought that when they broke up a month ago, he’d finally have some peace from the Black-haired witch. Granted, she wasn’t half as bad as much of the school seemed to think, but as pretty as she had turned over the past year, and as comfortable as their relationship had been in the past, it had ended.
So what did she want from him now?
“We have nothing to talk about, Pans.”
“Oh, yes we do,” she sat down next to him at the Slytherin table. “Fine, we can do it here. Muffliato,” she put away her wand and stared at him.
“What?” he snapped finally, after about five minutes of a tense silence.
“There’s something I need to tell you… don’t look at me like that, I’m not here to beg you to get back together with me,” she frowned at his expression. “We made a mistake, and… I, uh…”
“What, Pansy?” he asked irritably.
“Draco, I… I’m pregnant.”

Draco could clearly recall the first wizarding duel he had participated in, and the row he had had with his parents right afterwards. They didn’t, of course, believe that disarming his unarmed four-year-old cousin had been a complete accident. After all, it wasn’t his fault that the kid chose that moment to run across the room between her brother and Draco.
“Let’s duel, then. The winner gets the card,” Tom had said. Both boys had been collecting cards from the Chocolate Frogs for years, and both had been missing the same one; Merlin.
“Fine,” Draco had replied, drawing his wand.
The snow fell silently outside as the eleven-year-olds turned their backs to each other and walked away a few paces.
“Stupefy!” Draco had yelled, spinning around to cast the spell, once the agreed distance had been crossed. He hadn’t noticed the child until too late.
And so his first Christmas back from Hogwarts he had spent mostly in his room – grounded.

They were at it again, he could he their screams from his bedroom. Draco sighed, burrowing deeper under the thick covers of his bed, trying to ignore the shouts.
“He cannot get away with this!”
The fight was about him, Draco realized bitterly. His father seemed to have a problem with whatever Draco did – or didn’t do. This time, he had come back for the summer for the third year in row second in his year again. It may not have been so painful had the witch who had beaten him in every exam (again) been a Muggleborn. No other than know-it-all Hermione Granger.
Loud stamping on the stairs told him Lucius had decided it was time to confront Draco about the situation – and punish him, too. Considering the last thing Draco wanted was to be sentenced to another does of his father’s Crucio, he readied his wand.
“Colloportus,” he whispered, and heard the lock on his door click shut. That would stop Lucius, at least long enough for Narcissa to reach him and try to reason with her husband.
Right then, Draco would have preferred to be anywhere but where he was – even in the company of Muggle-born Granger.

He crept along the dark corridor, a pale hand tracing along the cold, stone walls, his other one waving blindly around, as if to ward off the stifling blackness. Fear gripped his stomach as he inched closer and closer to the end of the dungeon, where Lucius had said he’d be waiting to take his only son to the Dark Lord.
“Ow!” he swore under his breath, hearing his wand clutter across the stone floor as he regained his balance.
So much for passing by unnoticed.
“Draco? Is that you?” a hoarse whisper penetrated the shadows, followed by the unmistakable swish of a cloak.
“Lumos!” the same voice muttered, and Draco shielded his eyes against his father’s glare. “What do you think you’re doing, barging along like that in the darkness?”
“Sorry, I tripped,” the Slytherin muttered as he picked up his wand.
“Well, you’d better keep your balance in the presence of the Dark Lord, you clumsy boy,” Lucius snarled, turning on his heel and striding off, clearly expecting Draco to follow him.
Sighing, Draco did.

“You know what disobedience means, Avery,” the Dark Lord’s cold voice snaked around the chamber as he smiled evilly at the man kneeling before him.
Draco stood, motionless, behind the stone statue, one of many in Voldemort’s hideout, and prayed he wouldn’t be spotted. He couldn’t move for fear of being seen.
“No… pl-please…” the man whimpered so pitifully that the blond winced.
Grinning wider, though it looked more like a grimace on Voldemort’s disfigured, serpent-like face, he drew his wand. “Imperio!”
What happened next was stranger than anything Draco had ever seen. Avery rose, a glazed look misting over his once-bright blue eyes, and bowed to Voldemort.
“You shall go now, and bring that traitor back to me,” the Dark Lord commanded.
Nodding, Avery left, leaving Draco shocked as he slumped against the stone gargoyle. If Voldmort could force a man to expose his one and only son and bring him back for what would most probably be the most unimaginable punishment, then what else was he capable of?
Swallowing, Draco inched from behind the statue and out of sight, down a dark and narrow corridor. He didn’t want to know.
