Justin stood just inside the doorway of Ollivanders, taking it all in. There seemed to be millions of wands stacked in every possible bit of space.
How was he going to pick just one?
His parents stood outside holding all his packages, looking slightly nervous surrounded by wizards.
Mr Ollivander popped his head around a pile of wand boxes.
"Hello there" he said, eyeing Justin up. "Yes, I have just the wand for you"
He brought out an old silver box, and when Justin picked up the wand inside, even he knew it was the right one.

27. Owl
Justin, Hannah and Susan were taking advantage of the late summer sunshine and were doing their potions homework outside.
Scratching out another sentence of his essay, Justin looked up as he heard the flap of wings. He was secretly hoping it was a Hippogriff, but alas, it was just a owl. The owl circled and tried to land on his shoulder, but Justin batted it away. It squawked indignantly and held it's leg out to him. He took the letter, careful to avoid the owl's beak.
As the owl flew off again it left a little present on Justin's shoulder.

Justin was not the most cleanliest boy at Hogwarts. Indeed sometimes he counted amongst the very dirtiest. He did however, try to make sure that he at least had clean underwear on each day. At the end of the term he took all his washing home and bestowed it upon his poor mother.
Standing at the train station waiting for the Hogwarts Express home, Justin saw Susan walk over, a look of disgust on her face.
"What's wrong?" Justin asked.
"Your trunk, it smells like a dungeon. If you want to remain my boyfriend, you better clean up"

1.Herbology
Justin really was trying to concentrate on the task at hand, extracting Bubotuber pus for use in the Hospital Wing. The main distraction was coming from the table next to him, where Draco Malfoy and his cronies were making no attempt to disguise their disdainful discussion of mudbloods.
The first time Justin flinched involuntarily and squeezed the Bubotuber slightly, causing the pus to ooze just a little faster.
The second time Justin heard them use his name and mudblood in the same sentence he ripped the bubotuber from the pot and sent it flying at Malfoy's face.

53. Chase
Harry was busy with Ginny. Hermione, well, that was a whole other story. Ron was glad to find Justin Finch-Fletchley in the library to help with his Transfiguration Homework.
They'd just finished when Ron looked up and saw Romilda Vane making a beeline for the table he and Justin were sitting at. Muttering an obscenity he stood up, grabbed Justin's arm and pulled him around a bookcase and towards the exit.
Once safely outside, behind a tapestry and up some stairs, Justin asked why Ron had dragged him out of the library.
"She's been chasing me all day, i'm this close to hexing her into oblivion"

Justin was walking along when someone stepped out in front of him and blocked his way. It was Romilda Vane.
" Excuse me" Justin said and made to get past. Romilda promptly stepped sideways to block his escape, and took a step towards Justin.
"You're friends with Harry Potter correct?" Romilda asked with a sly smile.
"Ummmm yeah kinda" Justin said, taking a step backward. This girl was making him nervous, and he suddenly wished his transfiguration textbook was a portkey.
Romilda leant in to whisper to Justin. He panicked, yelled "Hello Harry" over Romilda's shoulder, and quickly made his escape while her back was turned.

32. Common room
The Hufflepuff common room was silent, except for the occassional sniffle. Justin sat next to Susan on one of the couches, holding her hand as she wept. Justin stared at a spot on the carpet, lost for words.
Justin looked up as Professor Sprout entered the common room. Her cheeks were red and tears ran down her face. She stood there for a few moments, as if she was trying to find the courage to speak.
Finally, the only thing she said was " Cedric was a wonderful person. He will be sorely missed by us all, but we will get through this together"

Justin and Ernie were having a discussion in the Hufflepuff common room about the Heir of Slytherin.
"All the evidence points to Harry Potter, I mean, the guy can talk to snakes. I think he might be after you next Justin" Ernie said, looking around to make sure no one was eavesdropping.
"But he's in Gryffindor. Surely the Heir of Slytherin would be in Slytherin?" Justin asked, confused.
"He must of bewitched the Sorting Hat into putting him in Gryffindor. Now you stay here while I get the others, I think they're in the library" Ernie stood and left.

Justin sat in the Hufflepuff Common Room for a good ten minutes before he decided to follow Ernie to the library. He thought that safety in numbers was his best protection in case Potter tried to attack him.
Walking along a corridoor near the library, Justin spotted Nearly Headless Nick having an animated discussion with one of the local portraits. They were debating whether being a ghost or a portrait was more important.
Suddenly Justin thought he saw something move at the end of the corridoor. He opened his mouth to ask Nick if he'd seen it move when he dropped down, petrified, his mouth agape.

The Yule Ball. All anyone in the Hufflepuff common room was talking about was who was going with whom, what they were wearing and how to dance without looking like an idiot.
Justin was thankful that at least he didn't have to worry about one of those three things. He'd asked Susan to go with him just after Professor Sprout had made the announcement.
The night of the Yule Ball Justin waited in the common room to meet Susan. She came down the stairs from the girls dorm wearing stunning emerald green dress robes.
"Wow" was all Justin could think to say. Susan smiled.

Justin's parents hadn't been keen on him going to the Quidditch World Cup with Ernie and his family. Not that they understood what Quidditch was in the first place. Justin had tried to explain it to them on countless occasions, with no success. Once he'd got past explaining the Quaffle and started on Bludger's he'd lost them completely.
Nevertheless, Justin bought them souvineers from the match. For his mom, he bought her a Bulgaria Scarf that had flashing lights at the end. For his Father, Justin bought him a small model of a Leprechaun that was bewitched to dance a jig.

Justin consulted his Potions Textbook one last time before he added the powdered thestral bone to his potion.
Stir 4 times clockwise, Leave to simmer for 3 minutes
About to begin stirring, Justin felt something hit the back of his head. Spinning around, he picked up a screwed up ball of parchment. He opened it to see these words scrawled:
Astronomy Tower, Midnight tonight. Come alone, Mudblood.
Justin didn’t even need to look up to see Draco snarling at him from the back of the classroom. He put the paper down on his desk and returned to stirring his potion.

“Please Justin, you can’t keep reacting everytime Draco provokes you” Susan said, sounding worried. Justin had just shown her the note Draco had thrown at him in Potions.
“I can’t ignore him, I’ve got to teach him a lesson” Justin replied, running his hand through his curly brown hair. “This will be the last time, I promise”.
Susan frowned, disbelieving him. Finally she shrugged and said “Well if you insist on going, I’m coming with you”, standing up and grabbing her cloak off the chair.
Justin smiled and held the common room door opened for Susan as they went into the darkness.

5. Astronomy
Justin felt the knot in his stomach tighten as they climbed the stairs to the Astronomy Tower. He reached out and took Susan’s hand, shooting her what was meant to be a reassuring smile.
Justin wondered what Draco had planned for their little nocturnal meeting. He ran over a few of the defensive charms and jinxes they’d learned in DA meetings as they neared the door.
He opened the door to find the tower apparently deserted.
“Wait here” he whispered to Susan as he stepped out into the open, wand raised at the ready.

As his eyes adjusted to the darkness of the Astronomy Tower, Justin spotted a silvery head hiding behind a telescope.
“You lose at hide and seek, Draco” Justin said scornfully.
Draco stood and faced Justin, wand drawn.
“Ready to duel, mudblood?” Draco.
“As always, ferret-boy” Justin retorted. He raised his wand just as Draco yelled ‘Rictusempra’ and countered with ‘Expelliarmus’. The two spells hit each other and were deflected. Draco was quick to follow up with an ‘Expelliarmus’. Justin watched helplessly as his wand flew out of his hand and over the side of the tower.

Draco laughed and advanced on Justin, pointing his wand right at his heart.
“It would be too easy, one less mudblood to get in my way” he snarled as he backed Justin up against the wall.
Draco lowered his wand, and just as Justin thought he was safe, Draco punched him in the nose. Blood gushed from his nostrils.
“You punch like a girl” came a voice from behind Draco. Susan pointed her wand straight at Draco’s throat and said “Petrificus Totalus”. Draco fell to the ground and Susan rushed to Justin, who was holding his nose.
“Hospital Wing?” Susan asked. Justin nodded.

Snape handed the piece of parchment to Justin, disdainful look on his face.
Justin groaned. Another D.
"Did you say something , Mr. Finch-Fletchley?" Snape said, sneering down at the Hufflepuff.
"Oh no Professor. It was - my stomach was rumbling, sir" Justin lied.
Not surprisingly, Snape didn't believe him.
"Perhaps" he said, "If you paid more attention to what was happening in your cauldron and less attention to what Miss Bones was doing, you wouldn't be a millimeter away from failing your Potions OWL". Snape sneered as this got a round of laughter from the Slytherins.

Justin was understandably nervous as he led Susan up the path to his house. Your parents meeting your girlfriend for the first time, it was a big moment.
They'd just about got to the door when...
"Achoo!" Susan sneezed.
"Bless you" Justin replied, knocking on the door.
"Achoo!" Susan sneezed again.
"Is something wrong?" Justin asked, worried.
"Your parents wouldn't happen to have a pet cat would they?" Susan asked, before she sneezed again.
"Yeah, Mr Bubbles has been in our family forever" Justin said, confused.
"I'm allergic to cats Justin" Susan said sadly.

Justin wasn't normally one to fall asleep in the Hufflepuff Common Room, he was always a bit paranoid that he'd start drooling, or snoring, or worse, sleeptalk.
His paranoia was well founded, as one rainy sunday afternoon he'd found himself drifting off in an armchair next to the fire in the common room.
While he slept and dreamt of magic carpets, Ernie and Hannah thought it would be funny to tie Justin's hands and feet together.
Justin woke to the sound of faint giggling and panicked when he couldn't move.
"Help! Someone untie me please"
Dainsie: Hahahaha. I LOVE it! That's so something I would do.

Justin walked down the stairs, following his nose to the kitchen, where Susan was cooking dinner.
"Smells delicious" he said, grabbing cutlery and setting the table.
"It's nearly ready. I thought we'd try something new" Susan replied, serving out the food.
Justin ate a mouthful of the stew and nearly gagged as the musty rotten flavour hit him. He managed to swallow to ask "What is this?"
"Hippogriff. What do you think of the taste?" Susan asked.
Justin put on the fakest smile he could manage. "It's great - tastes like chicken"

Justin once again found himself hanging out with Ron. Not that he minded, of course, but sometimes Justin got the feeling he was being used. They'd originally headed towards the library, but they spotted Romilda Vane entering with her gang of girls so they decided to hang out by the lake.
"Hey Justin, if you wanted to be an animagus, what animal would you want to become?" Ron asked.
Justin thought for a few moments.
"A thestral. Because not many people could see you and you could fly anywhere you wanted to" he replied.

Justin was sitting on a couch in the common room when Susan snuck up behind him and deposited something in his lap. As Justin was half asleep at the time, it took him a few seconds to realise it was a present, gift-wrapped in the most lurid giftwrap imaginable.
"What's the occasion?" he asked her as she sat down.
"No reason, I just thought these would look good on you" she said, smiling.
Justin ripped open the wrapping, tossing it into the fire where it belonged.
Sitting on his lap were a pair of plaid slippers.
"Uhhh thanks"

The library was quiet. Too quiet. Justin wondered if you sat in the library long enough, if you would lose the sense of hearing. He debunked that theory when he thought of Madam Pince, who had the hearing of a fox.
Justin couldn't take the quiet any longer. He leaned over and looked at what Ernie was working on. It looked like a jumbled secret code or something. "What IS that?" he asked confused, keeping his voice as low as possible. "Looks like a secret code love note, it does"
Ernie laughed. "It's my Arithmancy homework, you idiot".

Walking backwards and forwards, Justin pondered the meaning of Susan's gift. He occasionally peered down at the plaid slippers, which were actually really comfy.
Had he inadvertantly missed their anniversary?
He tried to remember what the date was when he'd asked her out, but couldn't. He paused from his pacing, shrugged, then continued.
I've definately got to get her a present in return he thought. But what? What do girls like? he asked himself, well aware that he was clueless when it came to girls. He decided he'd have to ask a girl for help.

Hermione Granger. The Walking Dictionary. Justin spotted her walking alone along a corridoor near the castle doors.
"Hermione - uh, could I have a word?" Justin asked as he caught up to her.
"Sure Justin, what do you want to talk about?" Hermione answered.
"Well, Susan bought me a present and i'm not sure if it was for a special occasion and i need your help because i have to buy her a present now and i have no idea what to get" Justin said all in one breath.
"Okay, come with me to Hogsmeade and we'll get her something" Hermione said.
