61. Kiss
post-Hogwarts

She was only a few months old and Hank had adjusted quite well to be a new father.

The late night crying was the toughest on Hank though. He would get up at the first sign of the fussiness beginning and head to the nursery. Picking up the baby girl from the crib he held her in his arms, slightly rocking her as he tried to comfort the child.

“It’s okay Selena.” He whispered to her as he kissed her forehead. “Daddy’s here.” He reminded her.

Sitting in the rocking chair, Hank watched as Selena slowly drifted off to sleep.

41. Thestrals
sixth year

“Dad?”

“Yes, Hank?”

“Can I ask you something?” Hank questioned lightly.

Devon was a bit nervous considering how serious Hank’s tone was. “Sure, son, what is it?”

“Can you see thestrals?” Hank asked lightly, he had been wondering for years.

Being taken slightly off-guard by the sensitive subject, Devon was silent for a few moments. Finally, he nodded his head in response.

There was more silence, this time from Hank. “Mum?” He asked in a whisper.

Again, there was silence. “Yes Hank, I saw your mother die.” Devon told him a soft voice. “I was holding her hand.” He cried.

21. Veela
post-hogwarts

Hank was about to go nuts. Lydia was away on a business trip, leaving Hank with the four kids. The three younger kids had went to Great Aunt LoLo’s for the weekend, leaving Selena at home with dad.

“What do you think of this dress, dad?” Selena asked.

Hank smiled at his daughter, “It’s beautiful.” He told her.

“Are you sure?” She asked with a sigh. “I don’t know about it.”

“That’s the fourth dress you’ve asked me about Selena. You’ve said the same thing to
each of my replies.” Hank pointed out. “You’re prettier than a veela.” He smiled.

42. Portraits
seventh year

“Hank, it’s four in the morning. What have I told you about night time mining?” The headmaster sighed, he enjoyed his conversations with Hank, but this was the sixth time he had been in his office before five in the morning this week.

“It’s still too cold for that, sir.” Hank smiled.

“What is it this time?”

“I was talking to the people in the portraits.”

“After midnight?”

“Sure!” Hank exclaimed. “Why not?”

“Hank, just got back to your common room and go to bed.” The headmaster said as he got up to leave, “I’m too tired to think now.”

18. Whomping Willow
fourth year

“Where’s your broom Hank?” Devon questioned his son. “I told you we were playing a pickup game of Quidditch in the back after lunch.” He reminded.

Hank stood there, hands in his pockets and a smile on his face as he tried to divert any attention towards him and his broom away. “Lunch was great, wasn’t it?” he asked casually.

“Hank.” Devon started. “Where is your broom?” He questioned, turning serious now.

“Not here.” Hank replied.

Devon’s face suddenly became pained. “The letter from school, about the Whomping Willow…that wasn’t your broom was it?”

Hank could only nod his head.

22. Kneazle
sixth year

“Hank, did you bring something home from school that I need to know about?” Devon questioned his son one morning.

“Nope. Just the usual, trunk, clothes, books, odds and ends and the occasional animal that’s harmless.” Hank replied as he grabbed his plate of breakfast and left the kitchen.

“Come back here.” Devon called.

Hank back tracked and came to stand in front of his father. “Fine, you caught me. I brought home a kneazle, but it’s okay. We’re having fun and no one’s hurt. We’re going for a walk later today; you’re invited to come along if you want.”

70. teem

The rainwater was teeming down from the rain gutter as Hank attempted to climb the ladder to get onto the roof. He was almost to the top of the tall ladder when his father appeared in the doorway to their home.

“What are you doing?” He asked simply.

“Cleaning the gutter out.” Hank replied as he climbed onto the roof.

“In the rain?”

“Sure, why not?”

“Surely you haven’t thought about electrocution by lightening before have you?” Devon wondered.

“I stuck my wet hand to an electrical outlet last week, I’m sure I’ll survive a lightning strike.” Hank pointed out.

67. Quell
post-hogwarts

It was complete and utter chaos. Hank didn’t know how the fight had begun but he was sure involved something to do with the little quidditch match they had started earlier in the day.

“Alright girls!” Hank called from the back door. “Settle it down. I don’t want anyone to get injured.” Surely they’d listen to their father and stop, right?

Wrong.

Turning the hose on, Hank knew a little water would quell the riot in his backyard down to a minimum. “DAD!” They yelled running away from the water. “Not fair!”

“Don’t make me intervene next time!” he laughed.

63. Mooch
fourth year

It was something that Hank had been doing for years, slowly and secretly taking small amounts of food off of the plates from his family around him. This practice had of course followed him to Hogwarts. It wasn’t until one day in fourth year that Austin figured it all out.

“Hank, is it really necessary to mooch off all of our plates?”

“What are you talking about?” Hank asked back.

“I swear, every time I get into a conversation with someone and I turn to my plate there’s always something missing.”

“Maybe you ate it and forgot.” Hank pointed out.

62. Lope
fifth year

It was the first time for Hank to ride a horse. Even though the fifteen year old boy was sure he could handle it by himself, his family wasn’t so sure.

Things were going fine, that was until Hank accidently spurred the horse with his boots causing the horse to take off at a lope.

“Oh no.” Preston sighed.

“You’re going to be prompted with a question later.” Auntie LoLo commented. “He wants to take the horse home with him.”

Things wouldn’t have been too bad if Hank hadn’t let go of the reigns and begun screaming like a banshee.

55. Egg On
post-hogwarts

“Selena, will you steal a strawberry for daddy, please?” Hank asked his four year old daughter, Lydia had banned him from the kitchen for the day, declaring him a nuisance to the cook.

The little girl went and retrieved a strawberry for her father. “Oh thank you sweet girl. Can daddy have another one?” He asked her.

“Hank, don’t egg her on any more or we won’t have any fruit to go with dessert tonight.” Lydia called from the kitchen.

“Just one more?” He asked, Selena was good at sneaking fruit for him.

“One more, and that’s it.” She declared.

57. Gape
seventh year

“Why is there such a large gape in the wall?”

“Don’t worry about it dad, I’ve got it covered.”

“Are you sure? It’s a lot larger than I thought we agreed on."

“Worst case scenario we’ll just put a bookcase in front of it or put a fish tank there instead and fill it with sharks and call it good .”

“Hank, why would I want sharks in my wall?”

“I don’t know. I was just brain storming.”

“I’m not letting you do renovations in the house again.”

“What! Why?” He questioned his father, “I didn’t even touch the dynamite!”

45. Torch
seventh year

“Hank, why do you have this?” Austin asked, clearly concerned as to how his friend became in possession of one of the torches from the corridors of the castle.

“Oh! I nearly forgot about that.” Hank said as he picked up the torch and looked at it. “I got lost one night and took one of the torches to help me find my way back to the common room.” He said.

There was silence. “I guess I should go put it back now that we’re packing up to leave for good.” He said with a designated tone in his voice.

51. Act
seventh year

“Don’t worry about it. Take it home with you. A memoir of fun times.” Austin told him with a smile.

“You won’t rat me out?”

“I could have ratted you out for a lot of other stuff, and I haven’t. I’ll just act like I never knew a thing.”

“Maybe you should have it then. A memoir of keeping me out of trouble most of the time, even when I deserved it all.” Hank said handing over the old torch.

“Are you sure you don’t want it?”

“I’m sure. I’ll just steal another one.” Hank said. “It’s what I do.”

54. Dare
seventh year

“I dare you to go to the groundskeeper and apologize for at least one thing you’ve done to him in the last seven years.” Lydia told Hank, they had been talking about things that they should do but wouldn’t do.

“Why? He’ll send me to the headmaster before I even get a word out. I’ll be lucky if I get to knock on his door.”

“Would you try?” Lydia pressed.

“Fine.” Hank sighed. He got up from his chair in front of the fire and headed to the common room enterance. “ I’ll try, but I can’t promise you anything…”

47. Portkey
fifth year

“No Hank.”

“Why not dad?”

“Hank, I am not teaching you how to make a portkey. I don’t even think that’s legal to begin with.”

“I just want to know how to do. I won’t actually do it. I don’t think I’d manage it by myself anyway.”

“The answer still remains, no.”

“Please dad!”

“No Hank. Besides, why do you want to know how to make a portkey?”

“…well…”

“Hank?”

“Don’t get mad…”

“Okay, I promise I won’t get mad. Just tell me why?”

“Oh never mind. There’s no reason at all. Just wanted to see if you’d teach me.”

46. Dungeon
third year

“Turner, why are you late again?”

“Sorry professor, the dungeons are just so, so far away from the library I couldn’t make it on time.” Hank smiled as he took his seat and began to pull out the necessary equipment for his potions class.

The professor cleared his throat. “Do you really think I believe your story from the library?”

“No, but it was worth a shot.” Hank said shrugging his shoulders.

“That’s what I thought.”

“Sorry I was late to class. I overslept during my nap. I’ll try to wake up a little sooner next time. No guarantees though.”

37. Animagus
fifth year

Hank was trying to stay as invisible as he possibly could. The last thing he needed was for someone to report him to the librarian when he was actually trying to look for a book to read for a change.

After searching for several minutes, Hank thought his hopes of finding the book he needed was completely diminished. And then he saw it; a second year with a book on animagus, the exact one he needed.

As he went closer to the younger student he accidently tripped over another student, sending books flying everywhere, this was not good at all.

36. Muggle
sixth year

“Alright Hank. Please remember that you’re going to New York to stay with your aunt. That means that there’s going to be muggles all around you all day every day while you’re there. Please, whatever you do. Don’t take your wand out.”

Hank sat there on the kitchen counter as he listened to his father talk as he paced the length of the kitchen. Clearly he still thought Hank was incapable of being around muggles.

“Oh, don’t forget to convert your money. I don’t want you arrested for trying to hand a cashier a knut or galleon.” He added on.

48. Leprechaun
sixth year

“Do you think it would be possible to kid nap a leprechaun?” Hank questioned Preston one afternoon while out on a walk in New York.

“Probably not.” Preston replied, hoping Hank wouldn’t question it any farther.

“Why not?” He asked.

Preston shrugged his shoulders, “I dunno. I don’t think leprechauns are ones to actually let themselves be caught.” He hoped this response would quiet his brother.

“Oh but come on. What if I’m a really good wizard, do you think I could do it?” Hank asked.

“Hank, I’m sure you could do anything if you set your mind to it.”

29. Pensieve
post-hogwarts

Hank didn’t realize that people would give him gifts for moving into a new house. He had been ever so patient and waited for Lydia to join him on the living room floor to begin to open.

One particular one was quite large in size and it took far too much effort on Hank’s behalf to get open. “What’s this?” He questioned pulling the large bowl shaped object out.

“It’s a pensieve.” Lydia told him as she carefully took it from his hands, fearing he might drop it and break it.

Confused, he asked: “What kind of gift is that?”

39. Duel
third year

Hank was stretched out on his bed, taking his nap like he did every day at the same exact time when someone began to move his leg. At first Hank just rolled over to his other side, but when it persisted, something had to be done.

Sitting up suddenly in his bed, he looked at the person and in a very clear and annoyed voice said: “Don’t make me duel you right now. It’s my nap time and everyone knows it.”

He then flopped back down on his bed and went back to sleep.

“Sorry.” A lost first year squeaked.

34. Parseltongue
fifth year

“What brings you here today Hank?” The headmaster asked.

“Well. I was wondering, this might be a long shot, but do you know any parseltongue?”

“No, I don’t actually. What makes you ask Hank?”

There was silence, and then Hank got up to leave. “Nothing in particular. I was just wondering. Just a random thought, and wanted to see if you knew any.”

“I’m happy we have that cleared up, we don’t want you to worry about that the rest of the term do we?”

“No we don’t, sir.” Hank smiled.

“Have you found your socks?”

“No I haven’t, actually…”

28. Timeturner
seventh year]

"If you had a timeturner, what specific thing would you use it for?" Hank asked Austin one evening at dinner.

"I don't like the idea of this discussion." Austin decided.

"Come on, just for fun. It's not like I have one in my pocket or anything." For good measure Hank checked his pockets to make sure. "Me, I'd like to go back last summer when I nearly burned Aunt LoLo's house down so I could not nearly burn down Aunt LoLo's house."

Austin laughed. "Good thing you've never decided to be a professional chef."

"I can barely manage making cookies."

38. Patronus
sixth year

Devon was surprised to see Hank up bright and early on Christmas day. "Son, how are you doing?"

Hank looked up from staring out the window at the twinkling Christmas lights Preston had decorated with. "What was mom's patronous?"

Sitting side by side looking out at the lights. "A swan. It was the most beautiful swan." The answer finally came.

Hank gave a brief smile to his father. "Guess what mine is."

"A swan?"

"I thought it was weird, to have a swan of all animals as a patronos. It makes me feel better knowing I share it with mom."
