First Year |  Craft Challenge #8 Magical Creatures SS Featured Writer Lovely Lady
The theme for challenge #8 is MAGICAL CREATURES.
Here's your guide:
- You have to begin it now, it can't be something you made before the challenge was issued.
- It has to be related to the theme in some way, but not necessarily in the most obvious way.
- You can use designs you found online or in books, or you can design something original.
- You have two weeks from the date of the challenge issue to complete the craft.
- Your craft can be any artisan craft medium; knit, crochet, wirework, beads, sculpture (bread dough, sculpey, fimo, porcelain clay, wood, stone, clay, metal art clay, glass, etc), food (cake deco, etc) or any other three dimensional object. Sorry, no graphics or pictures; we have other areas on SS that highlight that kind of art.
- You must post a picture for us in this thread when you're done. Include info about it, what it's made of and such. If you want to share your pattern or include process pictures (how you make it), feel free!
- This challenge is open and supportive of all levels of ability, from the very beginning beginner to the most advanced artist. All are welcome and praised!
- Tell us what you're going to do with your final product; keep it, gift it or donate it.
- First one to post their final project gets to pick the theme of the next challenge!!!
This challenge expires on August 3, 2008. (Though members are welcome to continue posting pics of any of their projects relating to the theme in this thread after the challenge ends as well as the previous themes (snitches, bookmarks, house pride, Quidditch, Weasley, Death Eaters and hex).

Alright, I'm back and ready to play again. I'm frustrated I didn't get to post my entry for the last one due to computer issues. Regardless:
Kelpie's Bridle
The greens and teals were chosen with an underwater creature in mind, and I attached these fire polished crystals with lengths of antiqued chain. It looks like something that might be used to guide a kelpie, the water horse, around an underwater kingdom.
First pic shows the colors, the second shows the shape. The necklace goes over the head and is princess-length.

Good thing I'm good with freezing charms. This Ashwinder laid its eggs in my kitchen and I made a ring from them! hehe. She makes a nice necklace, too. Hot stuff!

So I finally got round to my entry for this theme. I've been waiting to make it for aaages, but haven't had the time. Yesterday though, I had a whole afternoon with nothing to do, so I got out my beading kit and made this dragon (yep, I'm getting into 3d creatures!  )
He's repostionable, and made of seed beads and wire. I was inspired by models by ChimeraDragonFang and CrazyClur on DeviantArt.

The snake was made up of adhesive material (M-Seal) and eggs were from the kitchen Jar. (Cereal)
