Along the sixth floor corridor just down from the transfiguration classroom, you'll find a door with a bronze plaque. Professor Aurora Stone. Here you will find the private office of your transfiguration professor. Should you need her assistance, just give the door a polite knock and wait for a response. But don't dilly dally if she is not in, she wouldn't want you late for your next class.

Inside is both a cozy escape and a proper meeting place. The bookshelves filled with both tomes of her profession and family mementoes including pictures of her husband, daughter and siblings. Within a fireplace hangs a tea kettle ready for a fresh cuppa when the need arises. Off in the corner by a window resides a perch just reading for the return of the professor's owl, Merryweather. Be nice should she be around as she's a bit feisty and protective of her human.

Paul was feeling a little apprehensive; typically, he was focused on his own business and not asking for much from his peers or authority figures. Well, he was not doing that today as he headed to Professor Stone's office. It was about his journey to being an Animagus. He had studied the previous year with Idris and Bry and gotten some important note-taking done throughout the year before he felt ready to proceed. Paul wondered if his boyfriend would be joining them as well today, but he temporarily set that thought aside before he knocked politely.

After knocking, he stepped back, clutching his spiral book file of notes, in case it was needed. Hopefully the Professor wasn't too busy to hear them out.

Id was, in fact, joining his Paully at today’s meeting. How could he not? They were on this exciting adventure together, after all. He had just lost track of time since he had been out at the Sanctuary, visiting the kneazles {yet again} and bonding {yet again} with Professor Menon. Or so this Gryffindor hoped about the latter. The man was okay, blunt often times. Despite him not having the complete warmth as Professor Paton, the boy rather liked the new professor.

Idris hurried along the sixth floor corridor, brushing various colours of kneazle hairs from his clothing. Oh, right! He was a wizard! The reminder meant that his wand was unholstered and the residual hairs gotten rid of. It was just then that he took notice of Paul already at Professor Stone’s office door. Id quickened his pace, crossing the rest of the corridor and came to a halt just behind the Hufflepuff.

“Hi, Paully!” He reached out to give his boyfriend’s hand a squeeze. “I’m so ready for this!” he announced, literally bouncing on his feet. Here’s to the next phase of their Animagi journey!

The second year of teaching was proving to be easier than the first, or at least Aurora was seriously feeling she was getting more comfortable with the way Hogwarts was run and making sure the classes were all fun in some way. The better to get teenagers interested in a subject matter rather than the uni students already there. Her latest lesson plan was laid out before her on the desk as the older woman worked out the logistics to make sure all went as well as could be planned ahead of time. There was always the possibility of unexpected surprises of course. If only she could figure out how to wrap it all together.

She had just gotten up to retrieve a tome from her bookshelves that might prove useful when a knock could be heard from outside in the corridor. Crossing the room and opening the wooden door of her office in answer, Aurora was greeted with not just one but two students, though the duo were a pair often seen together. “Good day, Mister Rocker…Mister Grunt,” the professor greeted them with just a touch of curiousity. “To what do I own the pleasure?” As in, what brings you to call upon a professor between classes? They weren't exactly the type struggling in her lessons.

A relief didn't cover the full feeling Paul felt seeing Idris stand by his side. They truly were in this together. "Me too." He squeezed the hand back, letting their hand go just before the office door opened. Professor Stone looked curious at them, rightfully so, especially when Paul rarely ever attempted to seek Professors out unless he really had trouble with something.

"Hello, Professor Stone." He cleared his throat for comfort, before looking into her eyes. "Erm, Idris and I had been studying and researching information on Animagus for the past year. And I feel ready to either continue or learn about the next steps required to become one. I know it won't be an easy task. " His eyes glanced towards Idris before back at the Professor. His hands clutched onto the book a little tighter, but to the average viewer, he might've been trying to make sure his notes didn't slip through the book.

Of course!

Id would not change going on this journey with his Paully for the world! And because he knew him so well, Idris read the relief on Paul’s face quite easily. This was just one of the reasons they complemented each other. But all the rush of affection he was feeling would have to wait.

“Hi, Professor!” The Not-So-Little Lion piped up with his greeting as though he hadn’t seen Stone in years, such was his usual bubbliness. Maybe there was a tad more visible today as Animagus Training was something he had a lot of passion for. He fell silent while Paul explained the reason for their visit. It should come as no surprise that he was bouncing as he stood there. Though, Idris did pause mid bounce when Paul glanced at him; he shot the Badger an encouraging smile.

“What Paul said, Professor. We’ve researched and wrote extensively about our understanding of the topic last term, so hopefully that would help in our favour.” He knew that there were other determining factors to his and Paul’s fate when it came to proceeding with the training.

Both boys greeted her though Grunt took the lead in responding to her question. However, even before everything was laid on the table, it was clear that his companion was excited about something. More students interested in learning to become animagi?! It almost felt like déjà vu from the previous term, with a badger and lion duo instead of a sole snake. While Aurora had been aware of the possibilities of such students occasionally popping up over the years when she took on the job, the transfiguration professor hadn’t quite expected three in two years. Not that it didn’t excite the woman to see such passion for her subject.

And she certainly wasn’t going to discourage it!

“Indeed, it is,” she confirmed with a nod as she looked between the two boys and mulling over their words. “Well then I suppose ye both should come in,” Professor Stone remarked with a welcoming step back that widened the door opening onto her office. An arm outstretched to motion them to enter and head towards the sitting area. No time like the present to begin the discussion and it would likely prove a welcome distraction from her lesson planning frustration. “Have a seat and ye can share with me some of what ye both have studied so far to begin with. “ Always best to know what she had to work with.

"Thank you, Professor," Paul steadied himself as he moved to the sitting area. After he took the offered seat, he smoothed out his notes so they wouldn’t wrinkle out of the booklet he carried.

"We... tried to be thorough, preparing summaries of what we studied last year in the class, plus the chapters on Animagi. And in the Library, we read up on Ministry protocol to the registry of Animagus process." But they didn't work alone entirely, "We also used some of Idris's older brother, Jan's notes as well, since he's above our year, and even Bryony Paton gave her input while we were working in the Library."

He glanced at Idris, in case they wanted to share also why they used Jan's notes and what else they covered. "I know we'd be committing to a lengthy and difficult process, but ultimately want to show that we're up for the challenge.." He also knew how well they did on their O.W.Ls at the end of the year would be another big determining. Paul just hoped for a chance.

Id was happy to let Paul take the lead, and he snuck fond glances at his boyfriend for doing so. There was also some amount of pride mixed into the looks. His Paully was a joy to watch in anything he did! But the Gryffindor needed to focus on the purpose of the visit to Stone’s office. “Yes, thank you, Professor!’’ he remarked enthusiastically, bouncing into the office once so warmly invited in. Stone was one of those professors he felt comfortable with.

He sat beside Paul as the Hufflepuff began detailing all that the two of them had worked on. It was true: they had tried to be as thorough as they possibly could. And Id was grateful to his older brother and Bry for their help. He met Paul’s look and gave him a smile. "Our research included Human-to-Animal Transfiguration theory, the history of Animagi globally as well as methods that could help us focus throughout the process… should we be allowed to go through with it.” His Dad D had recommended meditation, and had even invited him and Paul to join them and Professor Joshi for added meditation moments if needed.

“Paul’s absolutely right, Professor. We’re quite willing to be dedicated to the entire process.” Id knew that things would be a hint easier if he and Paul supported each other throughout. He now eyed Stone with bright, hopeful eyes. The answer to their request all rested on her!
