A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it.
But the library just isn't a labyrinth of books. In the heart of the library and on the outskirts of it are tables and seating areas designated for quiet research and reading, some with accompanying fireplaces or large stained glass windows. Tucked away in the very back of the library is the Restricted Section, which requires a key that the librarian keeps on his person at all times and permission to enter because of the more mature titles and content that are tightly locked and chained within. At the entrance stands the front desk where the school librarian can usually be found, who will happily recommend a book, check out a book for you, and help you with any of your library needs.

Growing tired of the study areas of the common room, mostly due to the lack of resources nearby to help with her thoughts and work, Remy strode to the library. She had now perfected the art of enchanting her textbooks to float above her head rather than carrying them around, and she was also known to use extension charms on her bags but hadn’t bothered with that today.
Her hair tied into a tight bun, Remy proudly smiled at everyone who passed her by, a little show-offy of her magical skill.
Once she had made it to the library, Remy found a quiet desk and gently lowered the floating books in front of her. She hadn’t even sat down before heading to the bookshelves looking for more books to add to her pile. In particular, she wanted to find some complicated potions to look up, as she really needed to experiment with a few this year.

Feeling particularly perturbed that the recipient to the parcel clutched in his talons, Barnacle made one final swoop and landed on the pile of books the straw haired human had amassed. Being a very precise and very accurate sort of owl, he landed without nudging even a spec of dust out of the way. He had to be careful due to the warning he had received regarding the parcel in his feathered possession. Barnacle had not anticipated that it would take this long to find one human, thus putting him terribly behind schedule, but at least he had found her and now if she would just untie the knot of twine linking his leg and parcel he could hightail it back to the Owl Post for another few deliveries before sundown. For good measure, since he was currently looking at the back of her head, he hooted loudly a few times and thrust his leg forward more than a bit haughtily.
There was nothing particularly remarkable about the small parcel, unless its burlap wrapping was of interest, but the letter upon it clearly read that it was to one Remy Gaeltheos and from one Atlas Flamsteed.

Remy pouted after not being able to locate the book that she was looking for, wondering if it was in the Restricted Section. She hardly saw the point of keeping certain books out of reach from students, especially seventh years like herself who were pretty much adults. Instead, she picked up Asiatic Anti-Venoms as it also sparked her interest, although she had definitely used it briefly in the past.
The hoot took her off guard, because she wasn't expecting anything, and also because she didn't often see owls dropping things off in the library. She didn't mind, though, of course.
"Hello, you." Remy said softly, stepping forwards to tilt her head at the name it was addressed to, just to make sure it was hers before digging into it. She gently unwrapped the knot that contained the parcel and took it into her hands, smiling uncontrollably when she saw who it was from, even feeling a little shy as if the owl was about to judge her for her silly grinning. "Thank you, little one!" She stroked the owls head, then wasted no time in opening the letter first, although she was dying to know what was inside the parcel.

No judgement from this feathered friend, just adoration with the haste in which relieved him of both the letter and parcel. While Barnacle would have very much liked to stick around and see if he could also get a bit of a wing massage or tasty snack as well, there had been too much time spend searching for her and he very much must be off.
Further reasons would be discovered soon enough by this particular recipient. As soon as she so much as touched the wrapping or twine on the parcel, actually.

Getting to know one's students certainly had its advantages. They knew that Maria liked to read so they decided to set up the consultation at the library. They figured that choosing the right setting would help their assigned students be at ease in discussing their potential future without being hesitant about whether they were being taken seriously. Of course, that was just a small part of taking this seriously; the other part entailed Dhruv listening and providing proper guidance.
The DADA professor selected a table by a stained glass window then sat down, placing their pen and notebook before them. All that they required now was one Maria Dolph.

On her way to the library Maria felt a bit more at ease, and not as nervous and angsty as when she had signed up for the job consultation meeting at the start of term. It really felt reassuring, and good even to get talk with Professor Khanna about her future, and not a ghost or someone new she had never met. Maria liked to speak to those she was comfortable around and Professor Khanna felt like one of few professors at school that she could be truthful and open with and that he'd be a good listener like her daddy's.
Coming into the library it didn't take long before she spotted Prof Khanna over by the stained glass windows. When she stopped by the table where he was sitting Maria smiled, but still a little nervous and it was probably heard in her voice. "Hey Prof Khanna, I don't know how this will work, do I need to take notes too?" Since she had seen his notebook and pen.

She wasn’t overly careful about opening the parcel, if she had, then maybe it would have prepared her a little for what was inside. Remy’s eyes widened as the contents EXPLODED in her face with glitter and powder, with butterflies fleeing the scene. Immediately she looked up to find the librarians face, feeling her own turning an extreme shade of red.
Embarrassment but also rage.
Remy furiously snatched the letter to read it, snorting at what it said. Somehow seeing his name signed made up for the public shame, for a very brief moment. After slamming the letter down, Remy started to freak about the powder and glitter that was in her hair. She was already planning the howler she would send in return.
HER HAIR.

Dhruv would have been immensely pleased to know that Maria felt comfortable around them. It was something they always aimed for; they knew how important it was that the students have someone to trust while they were away from their families for such long periods of time.
When Maria appeared, they gave her a smile. Almost immediately the nerves were picked up. “Hello, Ms. Dolph.” Dhruv indicated the seat opposite. “Not necessarily but the choice is entirely yours.” Shall they get right down to business? “Now, I know you’re quite adept to DADA.’’ Here, they gave the Hufflepuff an approving nod. “You’ve also taken a liking to COMC, Herbology and Flying but have not decided what career field you want to get into. For that reason…” Dhruv opened the notebook to retrieve pamphlets bearing information on career in each of the four subject areas. “I know it is a lot to go through but I thought that perhaps you can start by letting me know of any career you have been thinking mostly about lately, a career that you think you may excel at,’’ they continued as the pushed the pamphlets across the table.

Tapio was in the office set aside for the school librarian, which he now was, trying to catch up on some order forms, but he'd gotten distracted by reading the review of a particularly interesting text about potions utilizing both plants and creatures. This might be of interest to Isla, too...
Suddenly he heard a loud noise out in the library and hurried out to investigate. On his way he ran into a swarm of butterflies, or so they looked--they fluttered around his face and scattered to pass around him. Going further into the stacks he found one of the students covered in what appeared to be glitter, which also seemed to be all over the floor and surrounding furniture. From the look on her face, this hadn't been her idea.

Taking the indicated seat opposite her professor Maria placed her notebook and quill, and ink bottle on the table beside her. Twinning her fingers together in her lap her eyes widened with immediate horror at the sight of all the career pamphlets that Professor Khanna spread out in front of her. Shaking her head she piped out her mouth suddenly dry, wishing that she could push her chair away from the table. "I can't do that. I don't know what career I would excel at. I don't have any favourites. I just don't know."
Averting her eyes from the pamphlets she begged in a teary tone "Can you take the pamphlets away? I don't want to look at them. Can't we just talk?" She didn't know where the sudden feeling of horror had come from, but it was very evident. Choosing a career was scary, and what if she studied for it and then nobody gave her a job? Then what was she supposed to do?
Job Fair Meeting for Alfred Devereaux and Emerald Ainsley
Resident Ghost of Gryffindor | Chivilrous & Sociable
Nick had a task that he was asked to help with. Him. Gryffindor's House Ghost. Asked to help out. Finally he was getting the credit he so much deserved.
He was doing them all a favor. The Professors and the students that is. These two, Alfred Devereaux and Emerald Ainsley was it? They were going to learn so much from him.
Nick floated right through the door of the library in all of his ghostly glory. He was here. Now where were these students. This was the correct place, yes? And he was on time, no?

Dhruv wished they could say that Maria’s reaction surprised them. However, they had seen this before and understood all too well what it was like to be confused about something critical, something that determined your life. They said nothing to Maria at first, and even smoothly scooped up the pamphlets to put them away. Out of sight, out of mind.
“We definitely can,’’ Dhruv remarked, smiling as they leaned back comfortably in the chair. That was what they both were here for. Though this meeting was meant to discuss career options, Dhruv would not mind detouring to another topic. “Is there something in particular you wish to talk about, Ms. Dolph? The floor is yours.”

Maria took a few more deep slow breaths with closed eyes before she a few minutes later opened her eyes to see that Professor Khanna had put the pamphlets away for now. Letting out a long sigh of relief she murmured "Thank you for putting the pamphlets away for a bit. They just made it all very scary, and real you know?" And real and just too much. She was just 15 and thinking about a future career already felt just very scary, and made her almost hyperventilate with a wish to dart out the door.
"Um what kind of careers are there that involve DADA Prof Khanna? Is there some careers where you can combine interests for DADA, Herbology and CoMC?" Maria wondered. She preferred talking to looking at pamphlets with required OWL and NEWT scores to get into the right career programme it felt too daunting.

Oh, Dhruv could understand. Their solemn nod confirmed this. “Not a problem. This all makes it very real, I should think, that you have to decide on your future at such a young age.” Yes, they could understand why it would be so intimidating. There are always certain questions lurking such as: what if I don’t know what profession I want to get into? What if I fail to get the required NEWT grades? What if I think I want to go into a profession but then change my mind?
Dhruv considered the question, their fingers drumming on the library table. “Hmmm. There’s always a researcher where you can do research on those subject areas. Healers need to be well versed in DADA and Herbology. Magizoologists are always in demand. Investigators in the Beast Division of the Ministry need to possess a strong knowledge of DADA. Did you know that I was an investigator with Beast Division a few years ago? Quite a rewarding career that was.” Even if they had left the Ministry for a teaching post here, it was not something Dhruv regretted. “You may also become a professor in one or two of the subject areas. There’s also the option of freelance writing for publishing houses. For example, I know the Daily Prophet features a Creature Column.”
Maria nodded forcefully and mumbled in response "Yes, that's exactly how I feel. This just makes it all super real, and I don't know if I when I leave Hogwarts in 3 years time want to pursue a career in what I might like now." Interests, wishes, and wants could change quickly since she was just only 14 years old right now. Minds could change plus Maria hadn't even sat her first stomach knitting exams yet. What if she failed all her OWL's and then her NEWT's too then maybe she wouldn't be able to get into the education for the career that she might dream off now. There were just so many what if's.
"Magizoologits?" Maria echoed as she considered the career. "Does magizoologist travel places to study and help out creatures?" She might be inclinded to study/research if it involved creatures and could help creatures who might be sick. "Ooo you were a beast investigator," Maria asked suddenly her interest more sparked as she sat up a little straighter. "What does a beast investigator do? Did you solve creature crimes?" That sounded pretty cool, Maria had to admit to herself.
The idea of being a professional writer made Maria's face go tomato red as she blushed "How did you know professor that I like writing things sometimes? Has Vera or Kion told you that?" She wondered. Her writing probably wasn't up to daily prophet standard, but one could dream.

That was something Dhruv understood. How many times had they heard the exact thing during the course of their teaching career? Numerous times. “There’s nothing wrong with having a change of heart in the future. What’s important is that you make all effort to pursue what you’ve set your eyes on. If you are unable to get into Wizarding University because you lack a particular NEWT, for example, there are independent studies that can be done as a stepping stone to enter University. Say you want to become a Healer but you hadn’t pursued Herbology at the NEWT level, then you can complete a few courses in Herbology that will allow you to do Healer studies.”
Dhruv nodded. “Indeed they do. They are able to visit sanctuaries around the world. I know some double as veterinarians.” They smiled at the interest in their former job. “Indeed I was; for four years. The Beast Division is one of three divisions run by the Department for the Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures and it oversees all the duties and issues arising with creatures classified as ‘Beast’. You’re not confined to a desk as you’re required to go out in the field to help with solving these issues. In addition, your expertise can be required by Ministries around the world and you might be required to visit their respective countries.” This was how Dhruv was able to forge a bond with the Japanese Ministry which enabled him to ‘borrow’ a Kappa for a lesson last term.
“Oh, I may have heard a whisper or two from your friends." They winked. "Not to mention I observe my students. You know, being an Investigator would give you much to write about. Your experiences would be handy when it comes to research.”
