If you are eager to see, be seen, and get to school first, then the front passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.

Daniel's ears managed to remain a bright red color as he wandered the hall searching for an empty compartment. His mother had made an embarrassing scene at the platform by kissing him on the cheek and refusing to let him board, which compelled his older brother to take her away. He ignored his mother's loving words, saying, "Be careful, darling. And write to us every week as usual!!" and went into the first empty compartment he stumbled across.
He exhaled heavily and tossed his shoulder bag onto the seat across from him. It felt good that his mother had decided to take him to the train station because that hadn't happened since his first year. With the types of jobs his parents had, they didn't have much time and usually sent the driver or a maid to accompany him. But why did she have to be so embarrassing about it?
He shook his head, willing the memory away before taking a seat near the window.

Victoria's summer hadn't been bad considering she hadn't passed ALL her OWLs. Her parents weren't all that disappointed, though, and V was pleased she had passed any at all. Spending the summer abroad in Canada had been different, though. She hadn't gotten to see any of her friends, only send letters. And she missed everyone, but she felt an extreme disconnect from Hogwarts as well.
It felt...strange to be back.
She had missed Lisa and Serena the most, but also Stewie. And....weirdly enough, Daniel. Hmm.
Speaking of the handsome Hufflepuff, V spotted him on the platform, but she hadn't noticed his embarrassing mother-son moment because she had been saying her goodbyes to her own parents before boarding the train. Following his trunk, she dipped into the compartment after him, smiling a bit as she did so.
"Hey!" she said as she took a seat across from him, nudging him with her foot. "How are you?" did she look positively GLOWING from her summer in Canada????? Speaking FRENCH all summer and enjoying BREAD?

So he was taken aback when she followed him inside his compartment. This also meant that he wouldn't have time to read, which made him sad. He'd gotten a new book from Flourish and Blotts the day before and was eager to read it.
Daniel looked down for a second after feeling a foot nudge him before raising his eyes to look at her. "I'm fine, I guess." His summer had been alright. His mother had placed him under house arrest for a week, but nothing else happened. Unless his OWL exam results were counted, but he didn't want to be reminded of them... "You?"

This was it.
The first of many lasts. His last ride to school on the Hogwarts Express. And coincidentally Nadia and Dynah’s first. Being a good big brother, Rajesh had made sure to get their trunks all packed up in the luggage car and his sisters both safely onboard before they split up once out of sight of their dad and papa to enjoy some freedom from each other for the train ride. He was available to find if they really needed help, but he was trying not to be followed every which way but two smaller shadows as much as he was protective of them.
For himself, Raj made his way up to the front cars in search of a free spot. The seventh year didn’t spot any familiar faces along the way so he settled for an empty compartment to settle in for the ride for now. More than enough thoughts and scenery to keep him occupied for the train ride in preparation for the new term.

Lev found himself entering the train after giving his mother a goodbye kiss. It didn't really sink in that he will be away for quite some time until this day finally happened. Sure he likes the idea of living in the dorms but somehow he felt anxious of leaving his house- his comfort zone. But he is 11 now and 11 year old kids should learn to be on their own! This was it. Lev is finally stepping up and being mature about this. His mother packed him his favorite chocolate chip cookies just in case he gets hungry from the long trip. THAT and she did mention it could be a great icebreaker for him, knowing that he sometimes get shy around new people. His mother knew him too well.
He entered an empty compartment, for some solidarty then tosses his backpack onto the empty seat in front of him. He took a seat next to the window with his legs stretched comfortably, he felt like this would be a good trip. Maybe he'll get to sleep on the way there... that is if he gets to be all by himself in the compartment. Yep! Sounds like a great plan.
If it's one thing the Reagans are good at other than most of the clan being loud, it's arriving early. Early enough Jackson was able to kiss his mother good bye, give a hug and handshake to his father and roll his eyes at his younger siblings before boarding the train and getting his favourite seat closest to front of the train as he could manage.
An open book in his lap and chocolates at his side Jackson was prepared for the journey whether or not any of his friends or new comers would join him. Just the way he liked it. This would be the final year Jackson had to himself at Hogwarts before his sister Norah joined him as a first year. He'd have to soak up every bit of being the one and only Reagan for the first time in what felt like an eternity.

Not bothering to look up when the door slid open to his compartment, Jackson forged on reading. Finally he looked up to see a first year. He knew of course it was a first year because they all looked about the same: nervous but eager; plus Jackson was really good at reading people. "Hello there." He greeted with a kind smile. "You've found the best compartment on the train."
Gently Jackson closed his book, placed it beside his chocolates on the seat next to him and stood. Jackson Andrew Sue Reagan, most call me Jack, Jackson, or Reagan. Pick whichever. Jackson stuck his hand out to the younger boy.

Cassie was a nervous wreck, more then a nervous wreck she was basically shaking. Saying goodbye to her parents she ran through the wall afraid she'll ran into the wall she opened her eyes. Whew... that was a close, she honestly was afraid of running into the wall. Biting her lip she handed her trunk to the guy placing them in the trunk compartment before setting onto the train. Looking around she seen that most of the places were filled with people with friends and loved ones.
Looking in she opened one of the compartment doors seeing a boy alone her age. "Oh goodness, I'm so sorry I didn't know anyone was in here until I saw you, do you mind if I join? It's starting to get really full." Playing with her hands biting her lip nervously. She felt terrible about disturbing the boy who looked like he was about to nap.

Apollo still wasn't sure how he felt about this year. His last year. His last journey he would ever make to Hogwarts. He had just finished playing his last ever U-17 Quidditch match not too long ago. Was this how being a seventh year was going to be? Just an all time thinking about how everything he was about to embark on would be his last? Only he realized he didn't want to think of his final year as a year of lasts and from this moment on, he was going to have change those thoughts to being a year of firsts. The true beginning of what lay ahead for him.
Not seeing Maya or Bella at the train station just yet (perhaps they were already on the train somewhere, but he'd look for them later), he found instead a Rajesh.
"Morning, Raj.... You don't mind if I sit here?" They hadn't spoken a whole lot, but as part of his newfound year of firsts, this was a prime opportunity.

Raj looked over at the sound of the compartment door opening, spotting a fellow seventh year standing there and offering a small polite smile at the Gryffindor. “Morning Apollo,” he returned the greeting before shaking his head. “No, not at all.” At the very least because he figured the other boy might be going though the same thoughts as he had been and understand. Even if they hadn’t interacted much before they had that in common right now.
Bu then he also didn’t want to make the whole train ride to school awkward and depressing. It would only likely make the feast sad and could just steam roll into the rest of the year. All though that might be an exaggeration since he’d certainly want to enjoy the term. “How was your summer?” he asked thinking it might be a safe topic for both of them.

Curls ALMOST as bouncy as her step, the now SECOND year Anna Eleri Walles bound down the train corridor waving and smiling at everyone she passed. Of course she was keeping a keen eye out for her friends (and especially her Fairy Frog Prince of the Summer Pond and Solomon the Valiant and not the Apologetic of the Glistening Waters since they were two she had not been able to keep as easily in touch with over the summer) but she was also aglow with excitement at all the new faces she had not yet met and those she HAD seen before but had not yet had the opportunity to meet. The train ride to and from Hogwarts was always an opportunity to build upon her sky already sparkling bright with constellations of friendship - but the sky or universe or something like that was always expanding and therefore OPPORTUNITY!
Which was just was she stumbled skipped upon when she found three NEW faces all gathered in and around one compartment. Well, technically, there was just ONE person actually in the compartment and the other two in various stages of entering it. "We can all four of us share it!" Anna declared with a bright smile and some glitter bouncing off her curls and falling to the floor - she had been doing some arts and crafts before coming and wanted to give herself that IT factor for her first day. Little did she know how difficult it was to wash glitter out of her hair and, no, she would not think to do so magically. Though her Guardian Angel was smart like that and might suggest it...or the Marquess de Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. He was also brilliant. "And I can tell you all about this AMAZING thing I heard over the summer about the Hogwarts Headmaster." She would miss Headmaster Bearded Quidditch, but she was pretty thrilled to find out more about this new fellow too. "I heard that his animagus form AND patronus is a UNICORN and he even has a horn on his forehead when he is in man form. Which sort of begs the question of whether or not he was a man first and then something went kind of wonky during his animagus training or...was he really a unicorn FIRST and some magical whimsy turned him human. What do you think? OH! I have Bertie Bott's to share if you'd like some. I tried to pick out all the nasty flavors but I can't promise I got them all." She paused to take a breath and smiled wide. "OH! And I'm Anna! What are your names? Are you all new or am I just not THAT observant and rudely never introduced myself until just now?"

Maxine was ready for her 4th year - This was the year she was going to make her mark - or maybe not - she's been saying that for going on 4 years now - so who knows. AT least her grade were good. She enjoyed school - she just needed to find herself some closer friends. She knew everybody but not well.
But rather than start looking now she got out book and began to read.

Oh good.... Sometimes Apollo fretted about sitting with people he didn't usually sit with. There was this irrational fear about it, even after being at Hogwarts for seven years. Which was completely ridiculous if he thought too much about it. "Good, good..." he took the seat opposite him, as he rummaged through his sack for something to munch on. He'd likely be restless enough to buy additional snacks from the trolley later on, but for now this would do.
Did Raj want to hear all about quidditch? Because Apollo could launch into quite the discussion if was interested. "Quidditch was a pretty fantastic season. England made it to second place... and my last three matches on the team, we won." Did anything else happen? Not a crazy lot, sadly. "What about you? Good summer?"

See, the summer had passed muster in topics of conversation. And even into something interesting. “That’s awesome. Congrats!” Raj did follow some quidditch, though he would have to admit, especially with his father, gobstones sometimes got more of his attention. Might also have a bit to do with how he loved to fly himself rather than just watch others in the air.
“Yeah, it was pretty great,” he remarked. “Had some excitement at the reserve with a new dragon.” One that he had been the watcher off to see when it was first beginning to hatch to make sure all would be well. It had been a big deal that he was proud of. “And the weather thankfully held out whenever we ventured into London.” The city and Diagon Alley were definitely better to enjoy and spend time with friends when it wasn’t raining all that much.

Lev took a minute or two to realise he has been staring at the outside from his window seat area.The crowd outside was starting to get more rowdy.... And soon this compartment will be filled as well. As much as he is not looking forward to that, he needed to meet new people like his mother have told him over breakfast this morning. Since he is new he should be making friends, right? Lev groaned at the thought of it. He wasn't good at that at all!
Startled his had snapped back at the door when someone entered to share a seat with him, Jackson or whatever else he managed to utter in less than 5 seconds when stepped in. His eyes followed his arm and towards the much older guy's hand.... a handshake? Polite. Grabbing it with his, he shook Jackson's hand as well. "Hi, Jackson" Lev said smiling at him "I'm Lev Spencer" he introduced himself and dropping his middle name. Nah! his name was too long. Lev was better, short and easy to remember.
His eyes drifted away and saw another student at the compartment door, and wanting to join them. Pulling his had away from Jackson, he smiled at the girl and nodded. "It's fine. Come in" quite happy with himself that he is doing well in meeting new peope. His mother would be excited to hear all about this, SHE was worried for no reason at all. "I'm Lev and this is Jackson" Lev added.
The compartment is beginning to be full and this is where his mother's cookies would make a great icebreaker for everyone. He grabbed his bag and waited for the two to settle down before he offers them anything... When another one entered the space. The first year was at awe at her pretty curls, it felt like she lights up the entire room. Not to mention quite talkative too- not that it is bad. Lev is relieved that it wouldn't be too awkward in this compartment. The first year was not quick enough to follow her summer story. His thoughts were still at the cookies inside his bag but he heard something about the Headmaster and creatures, perhaps a unicorn. And something about Bertie Botts.... he thinks. "That's nice you enjoyed your summer, Anna" at least he remembers her name. "I'm Lev" he introduced himself. "What are your thoughts on cookies?" see, ice breaker topic!
Curls ALMOST as bouncy as her step, the now SECOND year Anna Eleri Walles bound down the train corridor waving and smiling at everyone she passed. Of course she was keeping a keen eye out for her friends (and especially her Fairy Frog Prince of the Summer Pond and Solomon the Valiant and not the Apologetic of the Glistening Waters since they were two she had not been able to keep as easily in touch with over the summer) but she was also aglow with excitement at all the new faces she had not yet met and those she HAD seen before but had not yet had the opportunity to meet. The train ride to and from Hogwarts was always an opportunity to build upon her sky already sparkling bright with constellations of friendship - but the sky or universe or something like that was always expanding and therefore OPPORTUNITY!
Which was just was she stumbled skipped upon when she found three NEW faces all gathered in and around one compartment. Well, technically, there was just ONE person actually in the compartment and the other two in various stages of entering it. "We can all four of us share it!" Anna declared with a bright smile and some glitter bouncing off her curls and falling to the floor - she had been doing some arts and crafts before coming and wanted to give herself that IT factor for her first day. Little did she know how difficult it was to wash glitter out of her hair and, no, she would not think to do so magically. Though her Guardian Angel was smart like that and might suggest it...or the Marquess de Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. He was also brilliant. "And I can tell you all about this AMAZING thing I heard over the summer about the Hogwarts Headmaster." She would miss Headmaster Bearded Quidditch, but she was pretty thrilled to find out more about this new fellow too. "I heard that his animagus form AND patronus is a UNICORN and he even has a horn on his forehead when he is in man form. Which sort of begs the question of whether or not he was a man first and then something went kind of wonky during his animagus training or...was he really a unicorn FIRST and some magical whimsy turned him human. What do you think? OH! I have Bertie Bott's to share if you'd like some. I tried to pick out all the nasty flavors but I can't promise I got them all." She paused to take a breath and smiled wide. "OH! And I'm Anna! What are your names? Are you all new or am I just not THAT observant and rudely never introduced myself until just now?"

Lev took a minute or two to realise he has been staring at the outside from his window seat area.The crowd outside was starting to get more rowdy.... And soon this compartment will be filled as well. As much as he is not looking forward to that, he needed to meet new people like his mother have told him over breakfast this morning. Since he is new he should be making friends, right? Lev groaned at the thought of it. He wasn't good at that at all!
Startled his had snapped back at the door when someone entered to share a seat with him, Jackson or whatever else he managed to utter in less than 5 seconds when stepped in. His eyes followed his arm and towards the much older guy's hand.... a handshake? Polite. Grabbing it with his, he shook Jackson's hand as well. "Hi, Jackson" Lev said smiling at him "I'm Lev Spencer" he introduced himself and dropping his middle name. Nah! his name was too long. Lev was better, short and easy to remember.
His eyes drifted away and saw another student at the compartment door, and wanting to join them. Pulling his had away from Jackson, he smiled at the girl and nodded. "It's fine. Come in" quite happy with himself that he is doing well in meeting new peope. His mother would be excited to hear all about this, SHE was worried for no reason at all. "I'm Lev and this is Jackson" Lev added.
The compartment is beginning to be full and this is where his mother's cookies would make a great icebreaker for everyone. He grabbed his bag and waited for the two to settle down before he offers them anything... When another one entered the space. The first year was at awe at her pretty curls, it felt like she lights up the entire room. Not to mention quite talkative too- not that it is bad. Before the boy could speak another younger student arrived in the compartment. Jackson smiled at her, the rambling and excitement reminded him so much of his cousin Grace. He took a deep breath and tried to catch all she was talking about. Something about the new headmaster, but he couldn't quite catch what...was this girl human speaking so much so quickly?
Take a deep breath Anna." Jackson smiled. He glanced at Lev at the mention of cookies. Cookies were good no matter the situation. "Lev and I were just getting acquainted. Jackson explained as he took a seat again, picked his book up but hesitated on returning to it. His mother had scolded him on the way to the train station he needed to be more aware of his surroundings and counterparts when he had his nose in a book - something about it being rude to read while someone was talking directly to him.
Jackson finally realised why Anna seemed familiar other than reminding him of Grace. He had spent time last term ducking around the castle to avoid Anna and all her talking. Jackson chuckled to himself, last term he had been in a very moody funk but now was time to turn a new leaf. "I've got chocolates to share, if we're offering out sweets. Jackson offered gesturing the chocolate pile next to him.

He had been aware that V was following him but made no attempt to say hello. She was probably looking for Lisa and Serena's compartment. So he was taken aback when she followed him inside his compartment. This also meant that he wouldn't have time to read, which made him sad. He'd gotten a new book from Flourish and Blotts the day before and was eager to read it.
Daniel looked down for a second after feeling a foot nudge him before raising his eyes to look at her. "I'm fine, I guess." His summer had been alright. His mother had placed him under house arrest for a week, but nothing else happened. Unless his OWL exam results were counted, but he didn't want to be reminded of them... "You?"
Daniel seemed......off. V furrowed her eyebrows at him. "You don't seem fine. Are you all right?" she asked gently, curling her feet underneath her to get comfier in the seat. She leaned against the window and tucked some of her hair behind her ear as she took in his appearance more closely. V wouldn't say she was an expert at reading people or anything, but she felt she knew Daniel well enough ISH to tell he wasn't himself.
"No sarcastic remark about how I'm disturbing you? You really don't seem fine. Did you have a bad summer?" she asked curiously before answering his inquiry of HER. "I guess I'm okay. I kind of feel....rejuvenated. I got to spend the summer in Canada. Dad had work there," she shrugged. "And I got to do a dance program there and speak a LOT of French." It had really helped brush up her skills to say the least. Ever since her Gran had died, she had been not speaking the language as much.
V also did not fail to notice that Daniel was more handsome than ever. Gah. Why did the boys just get cuter every year? And speaking of cute boys - where was Stewie?

Her eyes were buried in a hefty Arithmancy textbook as she routed down the corridor of the train, somehow being able to dodge and swerve the bustling kids and obstacles. This sixth year was used to the scramble of boarding the Hogwarts Express by now. Her hair was tied back to show off her sun-kissed complexion after a summer of sun and sea, a gift from her parents after her exceptional OWL results. This could explain her huge need to cram and study before she’d even entered the gates of the school.
“Perfect,” Remy whispered to herself as she found an empty compartment. She wasn’t really in the mood to socialise as usual. Besides, getting caught up in friendship or relationship drama would prove detrimental to her studies. She 100% believes her quiet fifth year played a part in her grades.
The blonde sunk into a seat and rested her feet on the bench opposite her.

Daniel looked outside of the window as V seemed to analyze him. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "I'm just a bit tired" he said and almost added; 'so drop it' but decided against it. He didn't want to waste time on the train arguing with someone. "Besides, I'm not always like you described, am i?"
He had a vague recollection of spending a vacation in Canada when he was a child. But he wasn't sure if those memories were real or if he had overheard someone else talking about it and his impressionable mind decided it was.
Still looking outside of the window as V talked, Daniel remembered having seen V dance before. He remembered it vividly because it was during the time when he loathed her but had been mesmerized by the way her hair bounced around when she danced. His ears turned red at the memory intruding his mind and he scratched his neck before looking at her "You can speak French?" he asked, slightly impressed. He had met a girl who went to Beauxbaton in Diagon Alley a few weeks ago. A bit of an odd girl if he had to be honest.

The train felt weird this year. She’d often be with friends enjoying the train ride but when she stepped onto the train, a scary realization hit her. Soon enough she’d be the only Nam sibling left at Hogwarts. It made her tummy feel all sorts of ways so she hit her lip as her sister had nudged her. She then told her that she’d catch her later. She wandered the train, looking for some of her friends, but she got lost in her thoughts.
Evan certainly wasn’t the loudest sibling but… she missed his quiet and steady companionship. Even when he DID make fun of her. This year would weird without him.

She should have known that enjoying an empty compartment on the Hogwarts Express was impossible. With that and the start of term feast, Remy supposed she could switch her social skills on for a short time. She was… surprised to see Lisa choosing to spend the train ride with her, and almost touched. While they were still very much friends, Remy hadn’t exactly been a good one of late, and wouldn’t question any of her friends writing her off completely.
“Lees…” she smiled warmly, “sure you can.” Her feet lowered from the seats opposite her and she closed her textbook before resting her elbows on the hard surface of its cover. “… although I’d hate to bore you with my company.” She wasn’t sure why she felt it necessary to make such a bleak comment, but she really did want to give Lisa a chance to save herself.

A bit tired. Hmm. V didn’t know if she bought that, but if he didn’t want to explain himself to her, she didn’t think she was in the mood to push it. After all, they were getting along pretty well right now. “I guess not, no. I just had to check, though,” she said in response to him not always being like she described. “What are you reading?” She asked curiously as she gestured at his book.
Luckily for Daniel, Victoria didn’t notice his ears. She was too busy scoffing at his question. “Yes, I can speak French. My grandmother was half French, so she taught my father. And then eventually me. I wasn’t as good as like, a native French speaker, but this summer DID help that out a bit,” she said with a bit of a shrug. He seemed awfully impressed, and she didn’t know whether to take it as a compliment or a backhanded one. Like….she was too stupid to know French? Is that what he was getting at? V didn’t want to come off as defensive, though, so she settled for a slight scoff.

Tapio DeVries used his good arm to sling a knapsack over one shoulder as he surrendered his trunk to a porter to stow in baggage. He usually apparated directly to Hogwarts, but this year he just did not feel up to it. Besides, he'd never ridden the Hogwarts Express before, not having been a Hogwarts student, and he thought he ought to try it, so as to better understand the student experience. (Oh, who was he kidding? He was doing it because it sounded fun!)
Entering the door to the front cars, because he really did not feel up to much walking, Tapio walked a short way down the corridor and, not seeing a free compartment, finally stepped through the door to a car containing two of the older students, who would hopefully not feel put out by having a teacher in their car. Tapio was wearing his usual large tweed coat and hat that he favored in autumn, but rather than wearing it properly, with an arm in each sleeve, he had the left side draped over his left shoulder, revealing what looked like a bandaged hand beneath it.
"Hello, Rajesh,, Apollo," Tapio said cordially. "I hope you don't mind having to ride with a professor, but I'm afraid there isn't an empty car." Tapio usually used the students surnames, as was common on the Continent, but he felt that perhaps that was too formal for this occasion, since they were not in class.

She should have known he was reading something way out of her league. “What even IS a logogram?” She asked, raising an eyebrow at him. Was she judging him for reading in the first place? She supposed not since she seemed to loooooove surrounding herself with friends who were smarter than she - well, at least BOOKsmarter. She didn’t know that Serena OR Lisa were as good at people skills as she was….though was she even that good? She supposed it depended on her mood and the other people in question. But really - what WAS a logogram? She didn’t think she had ever heard that term before. “And what made you pick that book to read anyway?” She had a few magazines in her trunk, and that was kind of the only reading V even liked to do.
Color her surprised! Daniel wanted to learn something from her? She had to look out the window and snorted. “Sorry - I was just checking to see if pigs were flying out there because you just asked ME to teach YOU something!” She smirked teasingly at him before nodding. “But of course I will, if you’ll be a good little student for me…” and she wiggled her eyebrows.
