Right beside the barn lies a newer looking small shed that Professor Paton utilizes for her office/living quarters. The woman installed the outbuilding in order to be closer to the creatures should her presence be needed.
Next to the door is a sign on the wall instructing any visitors to knock. Depending upon the weather, Professor Paton will either come join you outside to sit on one of the rocking chairs and chat or invite you inside for a cup of tea. If permitted inside, one would be greeted with a large room, much larger than what the outside hints, primarily an off-white color with green accents around the rooms. There's a large desk where she does all of her lesson planing and grading papers, resting on the desk is three pet rocks Elvis/Flint/and Nephrite. Behind the desk is a large comfy chair and in front of it is two matching ones for guests. There's also a large bookshelf off to the side, crammed with books and other little odds and ends. A multitude of photos of her family adorn the walls, magical and mundane alike. No, it isn't you at all, for some of those faces in the photos are rather quite familiar, aren't they?
So please, if you’re here for questions or just a visit, give a knock on the door and Professor Paton will be with you shortly. That goes for you too, Logan Paton! OOC: Professor Paton does have crup named Beans that is often inside the cabin as well as her very beloved albino python Amie. Feel free to have you character notice one/both of them and/or react to them if you like if they are invited inside! | |

Well, Beans wasn't in the barn, so that meant there was only one place he could be: inside Professor Paton's cabin. His MUM's cabin. Logan was still trying to get used to the fact that his mum worked at the school. Because she was literally right there all the time, now he had to be on his best behaviour and get his homework done and all the things that wouldn't earn him a scolding in front of everyone.
But surely there were some perks to having a mother that worked at the school you attended. He already liked that he could see his crup whenever since Mum had brought him with her. It sure did save him a lot of time and effort as he didn't need to sneak Beans into the school. All he had to do now was go for a little walk on the grounds and stop by the barn or cabin to spend time with his canine best friend.
"Hey, Mum! MUUUUUUUM!" he loudly made his presence known as he approached the cabin. The sign next to the door went unnoticed, and Logan started turning the door handle. The fact that he could not open the door and waltz right in was such a betrayal. Surely it would have opened immediately for family, for him, for her little Wolverine only son. "It's me, Mum! Are you in?"

Beans, the crup in mention wasn't in the barn because Logan was very correct, he was with her there in the cabin. He could easily be found flopped in his comfy bed near her desk sound asleep. Speaking of being asleep, so was the albino python that happened to occupying one of the large chairs across from her desk.
Now wouldn't you know it that as luck would have it, the Professor/mother had been sipping her drink when the shouts came through the partly opened window near her desk resulting in cold coffee all down her front and on her desk. Really?! With a soft sigh and a quick flick of the wrist, nonverbal charms were cast to not only clean up the mess but unlock and open the door for her Wolverine Logan. "Come in, Logan." And this better be good, not that she thought it would be at all. Chances were high that he wasn't even here for her.

Whatever spillage had happened inside the cabin, Logan was totally unaware. But, really, that was nothing new. A lot of things he was blissfully unaware of. But he was very much aware that all of the yelling he had been doing did work in his favour. In fact, it had been rather effective at capturing his mum's attention and getting the locked door (which honestly shouldn't have been locked to him) unlocked. Ten points to Gryffindor, no?
Oh! Look! There was Beans right there! Before his mum could even finish the sentence to invite him in, the second year was already passing by the woman and making himself right at home. Shoes had been kicked off, and he was already on all fours, crawling closer and closer to the sleeping crup. "Psssssssssssst! Wake up, Beans!" He gave the lazy canine a few pokes.
His attention did eventually flicker back to his mum. "So why was the door locked, Mum? Shouldn't it, like, know to unlock itself for me right away?" He supposed it could have done that for Nova and Melody too, but he knew, deep down, that he was the favourite child whether his parents would admit it or not.
"And do you have any snacks?" A growing boy has to eat, and the kitchen and his dorm room, where junk food was stashed inside his trunk, was pretty far now that he was all the way down here. The blond grinned, trying his best to look as angelic as possible as he gave Beans some pats.

This was nothing out of the norm so really Hady thought nothing of it as she watched her son crawl across the floor on all fours towards the crup. As a matter of fact it earned a soft laugh from her and a shake of her head. After a few pokes, Beans lifted his head and gave Logan a nice big wet slobbery cruppy lick across his face.
"Why hello to you too, Logan. It's nice to see you too, Logan. How are you today, Logan?" she teased him, ignoring his question for a moment as she reached out and gave his blonde hair a light ruffle. "The reason the door was locked was because I was working. It's polite to knock on a closed door, you know that. You don't like it when anyone barges in on you, do you?" Think back dear child to when Bryony was a tiny one and always busted into his room without asking. It wasn't fun, was it?
Snacks now? Really? Did he not know her at all. Of course she had snacks. She always had snacks. "Since when do you have to ask that? I'm still doing some rearranging in here but there's some snacks in the cabinets over there." She nodded at what was a small wooden cabinet that held kitchen supplies and other things.

Logan's mind, as it usually did, was pulling him in a million different directions. There was Beans who needed attention (not that the dog had asked for it, though he seemed to be enjoying the petting); he wanted an explanation about the whole locked door thing; then the boy realized that he wouldn't have minded eating something to hold him until it was time for supper (which was -- what? -- in a few hours, but that was simply too long of a wait). It was only just now, after his mother's teasing, that he realized that he hadn't been very polite with the whole barging in thing. Habits were hard to break.
"Hiiiiiii, Mum. I'm doing fiiiiiiine, Mum. How are yooooooou, Mum?" he replied, finally addressing her properly. But, of course, the hair ruffling caused him to make a face. Why did everyone feel the need to do that?
The face remained when she explained why the door had been locked and he couldn't just walk right on in. He did understand the whole barging in thing, he did. But she was his mum, and he was her son. Wasn't it his job to barge right in? "But I did make it known I was coming, no? Not really barging in if you knew I was coming." He had been pretty loud with all that shouting. And what he had done was much, much different from the antics of his younger sister.
Naturally, the topic about the locked door was set aside, likely not to be brought up until the next time it happened, because he was now focused on the snacks that he now knew the location of. After giving Beans a few more pats, Logan pushed himself up from the floor and darted over to the cabinet, flinging it open. Was he going to have to look in the very back to find the good snacks like at home? "I asked to be polite," he told her cheekily as he rummaged.

The boy hardly every was able to focus on one thing at a time. He was very much like his younger sister who couldn't sit still and always needed to be doing something at all times.
"I'm doing good, Logan, thank you so much for asking." She smiled at him trying hard not to laugh at his antics as she knew it would only make him continue to do this. As for the hair ruffling, why did SHE do it? Well that was simple. She was his mum. That gorgeous blonde hair of his was hair not to ruffle whenever he was close to her, it was habit but she was trying to get better at not doing so.
This time a soft smile did form on her lips. Look at him trying to talk his way out of it. Just like his father, he is. "That isn't the point. I was working. Whenever I was working at home the door was locked as well. It's the same thing here." He was simply going to have to get used to it. There was no way she was going to have him barging in here any time that he wanted.
"Bottom shelf," was all she was going to say on the snack situation. Being his mum she was pretty sure she already knew exactly what it was he was looking for and it was on the bottom shelf. Not that he couldn't choose something else as the selection was quite large.
