 Further down the fifth-floor corridor awaits a statue of a rather large bald man with several chins. If you know your potions or history well enough, you will be able to identify this medieval wizard as the inventor of Gregory's Unctuous Unction. Though a fine wizard, he is credited for worming his way into King Richard's confidence and making a fortune by administrating his BFF-in-a-vial to the former Muggle ruler.
While Gregory the Smarmy's story may be interesting to some, you might find what he is hiding to be more your scene. Looking closely behind the large man, you just might see a slight opening of a secret passageway. Few, however, have access to the passage and know exactly where it leads because not very many people know how to get the bulky statue to move aside. Trying all of the random passwords you know will result in failure and wasted time. Perhaps you need to take a leaf out of Gregory's book and find a way to excessively flatter him. Good luck.

No offense, but who decided to decorate Hogwarts the way they did? Because this statue was .... a choice (derogatory). Kinsay James couldn't help but stop and stare with distaste as she made her way by it. Maybe as her parting gift to Hogwarts, she could suggest that they find a better art installation to replace it with.
And, perhaps, out of the goodness of her own heart, she might be willing to create something herself. See? So generous.
Like, the longer she stared, the worse it got. His head was sooo bald. And he had sooo many chins. Who was this guy anyway? Not anywhere important enough to know because Kins would've recognized him otherwise. So. Really, Hogwarts could probably do without him. She'd be sure to mention that if she ever made the case for a replacement installation.
To test its durability, she gave the great ugly statue a poke right on its third chin.
Hm.

Simon was on his way to Norman's office to pick his brain on the newest set of letters that Ethan had mailed him. Holmes was actively in pursuit of their latest adventure and Watson... well Watson had to supervise young students and educate the bright minds so he was sitting this one out. However, Simon could still be of use!
In his own world, he hadn't noticed that he had gotten off on the wrong floor until he saw a very familiar statue of Master Gregory. However, Master Gregory was not alone this day for he had a young companion. A certain blonde Miss James. And she was very close to the statue.
"Be careful, Miss James, he may come to life if you poke him two more times," commented Simon as he approached the seventh year. He put his notebook underneath his arm as he came to stand beside her. "Wasn't a very attractive fellow was he? Do you know why there's a statue of him?"

Of course she was close to the statue. How else was she meant to inspect it? It was soooo ugly. Had she mentioned that yet? It was important that everyone knew. Hogwarts really needed to hire a new interior decorator because their last one, no offense, was not very good at their job. Headmaster Kazmi needed to be told. Like. Immediately.
Except it wasn't the headmaster that stumbled upon her, it was Professor Holden. He was so pretty, did he know? Totally unlike the statue. He made this Gregory guy look like a pile of baked beans. Maaaaajor ew vibes.
"... Really?" She squinted, looking from the statue to Professor Holden back to the statue back to Professor H. "Or are you just saying that so I'll stop touching him?" Adults said these things sometimes to make you do what they wanted. Kinsay James was totally an expert in adult manipulation. She understood how it worked. So.
But she agreed with what he said next, nodding very seriously. "So ugly." She was glad he saw it too. And no, she did not know why he had a statue, but she wasn't going to admit it. Not yet. "Do you know why?"

He hadn’t intended it to be an adult manipulation thing. Instead, it was purely a joke. “It’s simply a joke, Miss James. Y’know like if someone ever told you that you made an ugly face that you had to be careful of the wind stopping blowing otherwise your face would be set…” he said as he joined her. “At least my elder brother liked to tell me that when I was thirteen.” Brothers could be cruel.
Ah. A question he could answer. “Mr Gregory here lacked looks… however he had smarts.. He created a potion. Gregory's Unctuous Unction was a potion that made the drinker believe whomever gave the potion is his or her best friend. Apparently he handed it to the King.”
Very wise if you asked him.

Very wise if you asked him. ..... Kinsay knew what a joke was, she didn't need the whoooole explanation. She would have said as much if Mr. H wasn't her professor. But because Kinsay Cassandra James was so incessantly polite, she offered him a tiiiny smile and a nod instead. "Right." But she totally knew how jokes worked, ok? She wasn't stupid. She really, really wasn't.
"I have an older brother too. And an older sister. They're twins." And the best people she knew. But they wouldn't lie to her about silly things like dumb statues. For the record. So.
"I know that potion." Potions wasn't her best subject, but she totally knew her potions, okay? She was studying for exams and everything. "But why is there a statue of him here? Like, did he do anything special for Hogwarts?"
