| | Clock Tower Entrance The Clock Tower Entrance is one of the three main entrances of Hogwarts Castle (the other two being the Viaduct Entrance and the main Entrance Hall). It aligns with the third-floor corridor, connecting with the courtyard that stems off to the Wooden Bridge and the rest of the school grounds. This large open space can be magically sealed with a portcullis and the massive double doors can be locked with numerous bolts.
At the base of the Clock Tower is a large window that may cause you to question why it is even there as all you can see out of it is the side of a building. Fortunately for you, the massive steel and iron pendulum swinging back and forth will likely pull you out of trying to figure out that mystery. If you look closely at the suspended weight, an imprint of a many armed star in the middle and a number of runic symbols on the outer rim can be seen. Study the purposeful design on the pendulum as long as you like. Just don't fall into temptation of swinging from it and pretending to be a wrecking ball.

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself. Meredith was not in her human form at the moment. Whatever had happened to her recently was gradually growing on her, and she could 'feel' the signals of the transformation before it happened.
It still happened at random, with the most recent incident occurring in the middle of the night after she returned from the bathroom. She had turned into a ferret and had an overwhelming desire to climb the red curtains around the beds.
Meredith, the small ferret, tried to jump up onto the swinging pendulum but was unable to reach the height. She squeaked loudly, circled, and was briefly distracted by her own tail before attempting again. Not knowing she would never reach that height by herself.

Stretching his legs in the cool, crisp morning air, Hooper was exploring the castle to his hearts content. It felt good to be back at Hogwarts, despite the plethora of strange, odd and weird things that just kept happening to his classmates. Part of him was actually jealous that those things weren’t happening to him too!
Entering the clocktower from the main hall entrance, Hooper’s eyes wandered straight to the clocktower in search for a secret passageway, something he’d been assured was a real thing by one of the older students. Looking at the runic symbols on the outer rim of the iron pendulum however, he saw nothing that suggested there was a secret passageway anywhere nearby. He did however spot a small ferret on the floor. Watching carefully, he couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle as it tried to actually swing from the pendulum. “Hey little fella, what are you doing up here?” the third year Gryffindor whispered as he bent down to inspect the creature. “Aren’t you a little cuttie! You want something to eat, huh?” and reaching into his backpack, he pulled out a sandwich he’d made at breakfast this morning for his journey around the castle and broke some of the bread off. He wasn’t exactly sure if that’s what Ferrets eat but it was better than nothing.
Holding his hand out with some broken up bread, Hooper waited to see if the ferret would come any closer to him for the food. Maybe if it was friendly, he could make a leash and take it for walks! |

She had given up on climbing the swinging pendulum by this point and was on her way to one of the benches when she heard a familiar voice.
Meredith had a moment of clarity when one of her fellow Gryffindor third years appeared, and she hoped to Merlin's Beard that she wouldn't revert back into herself at this moment.
Yes, she was cute, and she thought so as well. That was why the ferret approached the piece of bread that Hooper was attempting to give her.
She snatched it from him and raced up to his backpack, climb on it and attempted to get inside. Surely there had to be more snacks in there?

Even though he somewhat expected the ferret to go for the food he was offering, it still took him by surprise when it quickly darted to the food and stole it out of his hand swiftly. One moment the bread was there and the next moment it was gone. Poor thing must have been so hungry. “Don’t you worry little friend. I’ll keep you fed.”
What he hadn’t expected however was for it to run up to his backpack! How? What? Why? “Hey you?! What do you think you’re doing?” laughing a little now as he span around in a circle trying to look at the little, furry, ferret.
Taking is backpack off, he opened it up in search of the little fellow. Truth be told, he was less concerned for the food as he was for the poop that could currently be sitting at the bottom of his backpack. “If you come out and sit on my shoulder, I’ll take you to the Great Hall? There’s loads of food there!” |

There’s loads of food there!” She had no idea how she had gotten inside the bag, but it had been remarkably simple. She searched about for additional food until she spotted the light from above her as the bag was being unzipped further and looked up.
She couldn't comprehend what he was saying, but the human half of her could make out 'great hall' and 'food,' and she enjoyed that! But just as she was ready to wriggle back out of the bag, that odd magical sensation washed over her, and the ferret had changed back into a human girl with no warning, not even a poof.
Meredith was ashamed as she sat on the stone ground with the bag over her head, aware of what had occurred. What was he going to say? She couldn't even reveal her face! She reached up and grabbed the bag so tightly that her knuckles became white. He couldn't see who she was or that she was, of all people, his housemate. He simply couldn't know.
How difficult was it to run when unable to see?

How difficult was it to run when unable to see? With his backpack on the floor in front of him and his arm roaming around inside the backpack to pull the small creature out, Hooper couldn’t help but wonder how he always ended up in these weird situations. How was he going to explain to Parker that a ferret had somehow climbed into his backpack and eaten some of his lunch? Even in Hogwarts that sounded a little ferrety fishy.
It only got stranger from there.
After mere moments of searching, Hooper’s hand was forced backwards out of the bag as a slightly furry pair of legs burst out of the backpack opening, followed by a torso and a pair of arms. Shooting backwards in surprise, Hooper skidded across the floor and watched as though he was watching some kind of horror movie. Wanting to look away but also too curious to see what was going on.
As the ferret stopped growing and it became apparent that it wasn’t a ferret at all but in fact a human, Hooper gingerly got to his feet and take a small step towards the person on the ground in front of him with his backpack over their head. “WHAT. ON. EARTH. WAS. THAT?” he called out, his voice echoing around the clocktower. “Who OR what are you? And what happened? Where’s the ferret and what did you do to it?” Surely this…kid wasn’t the ferret? Even he’d heard of the effects of using animal hair in Polyjuice potion and there was no way that they were…uh…thingy’s….animagus! “Don’t make me pull that bag off your head!” |
