| | |  Apparition Lesson (5th-7th years)
It was a sunny and bright Monday afternoon in the beginning of March, with the sun giving off a hint of some spring warmth in the air. As the students head down to lake bank where the Apparition lesson is being held they will surely take notice of the blond unfamiliar woman in dark ministry robes with a friendly smile on her face standing near an assortment of tree stumps that are charmed to be comfortable to sit on. A little further to the right in the direction of the forest trees several large colourful rings have been laid out on the ground for some sort of practice. Behind the ministry woman out on the lake water you can see large green lily pad leaves scattered almost like in an obstacle course fashion, but what could they be for? Take a seat on a tree stump and you’ll soon find out.
OOC: Hi everyone! It's so fun to teach a SS lesson again. Please have your charrie take a seat on a tree stump. The lesson will start in 24-36 hours. Remember that all Hogwarts RPG and SS rules apply.

Aria eyed her brother and those flowers. Almost self consciously she tucked her hands under her armpits. She was afraid of causing chaos and disrupting this important lesson, you see. That aside, she couldn’t help to feel sorry yet again for Caes and him having so narrowly failed his Apparation test. She would have cried her eyes out if that happened to her. “I guess you weren’t Deliberate enough,’’ Aria whispered, leaning closer to Caes at the same time so that she could elbow him. Her attention was back on Bagnold as more information was given then the exercise explained. “So. Rings or lily pads, Caes?’’ she mused aloud, eyes darting from each set of objects. “Don’t tell me I’m not up for the lily pads. You know I love a challenge!’’

Okay, the majority of the information provided was what Jude already knew. Had he done as much reading on the topic as he possibly could? Yes, he had. Fully focused and in the zone with each word Bagnold said, Jude immediately decided that he would try things out with the hoops. “Er, Ms. Bagnold? If we try Apparating from one hoop to the other, or one lily pad to the other, there would be a risk of some of us Apparating into the same hoop and onto the same pad, wouldn’t there?” That would be highly… disconcerting so Jude would just be focusing on one hoop. It was much simpler that way in so many ways. He moved over to one of the neon green rings to get started. |

Caes smirked, "Hopefully you don't mix up Deliberation with Desperation," Just a little friendly tip for her when she leaned in to elbow him. "Oh yeah? I can believe that. Let's work out way through the rings first before the lily pads. Wouldn't want to be the first to fall in the water," That'd be embarrassing either from a failed attempt or a possible influence from someone, ahem. Meanwhile, he was prepping to tune out other distractions such as the two students about to fly away. "Good luck, sis," He said before taking a spot distant enough away so they wouldn't collide.
The three Ds... Destination, Determination, and Deliberation... Destined to pop into the ring. Determined to stay in the ring. Deliberating on the travel. Taking a moment clear his head space. Trying not to think about his previous failed exam. Remembering the three D's before closing his eyes waiting until the other sounds were tuned out. And then he took the spin... where would he end up was up to Merlin.

Alright…practice time.
Though Rajesh had to admit, if it had been any other term he might have been a tad less nervous because with Peeves’ surprise gift, it wasn’t like all of his magic was predictable. Eying both options to practice on, he was definitely figuring he should keep to the rings as he was already likely to be wet without running the risk of slipping and falling in the lake in the process of either taking off or landing. The former obviously running the risk of leading to splinching.
The instructor made it seem soooooo easy.
Well, nothing was going to happen if he just sat there, so he moved closer to the hoops on the ground so he could begin following one of the lines. His feet squishing ever so slightly, his hands damp but not with nervous sweat, but no storms brewing. Alright, the three D’s.
Destination…determination…deliberation.
Also known as focus, focus, focus. Staring at the inside of the first hoop, envisioning actually being inside it himself. That was his destination. And he really, really wanted to be in there , which was determination. And he was all for the follow through, to actually do it. So he ran through all three in his once more before doing the actual term.
And nothing happened.

As soon as Caes spun on the spot he could feel his body start to contort as if he was being stretched and then squished. A familiar feeling at this point from his previous attempts so he remained focused on the destination. Not letting the feeling distract him. In the hoop.. In the hoop..

Caes reappeared... one foot in the hoop and the other out of the hoop. Checking himself, along with running his tongue over his teeth. He didn't lose anything. Not a single splinch. But his apparating wasn't a success since he was standing halfway in and out of the hoop. So he would have to try again. Time to clear his mind again.

“Humph!’’ Aria responded. “We’ll just see about that, won’t we?” But she was grinning, ready to take on the Apparating for the first time. “Hoops it is, even though I really think you’re afraid of being the first to take a swim with Bart.” Then she was scooting over to Caes and reaching out to give him a squish. “And to you!” Yes, Aria was a hundred percent sure that Caes would be successful in everything Apparition.
Now, the Slytherin girl was standing by one of the hoops. At the same time the three Ds’ were running through her mind like a chant, and she tried to think of them over anything else. Aria took her time in concentrating, focused on the hoop then turned on the spot. It really was no surprise that she was still standing exactly in the same spot. And so she tried again and again and AGAIN. While Aria was busy failing, Caes was obviously mastering things over there. How proud this little sister was of him!

Yeah, Jude wasn’t having much luck on his end either. Of course, he hadn’t expected to have much success just at the moment. After a few tries, he realised that he was somewhat nervous about splinching himself. Was that what was holding him back? Maybe he should take a moment to clear his head? It was a good idea and the Hufflepuff did exactly this, closing his eyes and doing a few rounds of breathing exercises that he had come to rely on.
Right!
He was ready again. Jude eyed the chosen hoop and turned on the spot for what seemed like the zillionth time. | |

Aurora was walking around among the student's as they began practicing, most chose to start with the neon rings. Hearing her name, she turned to locate the sound of the voice and then she answered with a small smile to the boy and also to everyone who might be wondering the same thing. "Good question! When you step up in front of one of the rings a course of neon rings will appear in front of you that will be yours, and only yours to practice with. I understand that you want to practice in your own time, and not wait on others. So keep up the practicing you are all doing great!"
OOC: Keep up the practice! I love reading about your students efforts. As each indiviual student steps in front of a ring a whole course of neon rings (colour varies) will appear that will be only theirs to practice with for the duration of the lesson unless they move over to the lily pads at some point.

Edric was definitely, probably, imminently going to de-pants Jasper. Hopefully he had had the sense to wear underwear today in addition to a belt because in 3....2....1...
"Ohhh nope," Edric blurted as his bright light hands suddenly failed him and he lost his grip on his friend. He may or may not have pulled any articles of clothing down with him as he fell back to the ground. Luckily, Jasper had more momentum than height, so he was able to roll off the fall and pop back up like nothing had happened, jazz light hands a-blazin' in two finger guns aimed at the apparition instructor.
Cute the grin. "I'm fine!" He ran a sunshine-bright glowing hand through his hair and squinted around. "Oh, are we jumping from ring to ring now?" Don't mind if he did... this was a Muggle game, he was pretty sure.

Aria Mae McLeod did not give up. Her papas did not raise any quitter so after watching her classmates making their fruitless attempts and refocusing on the hoop she had chosen, she was off again. Her destination was clear in her mind. Determination? Oh, there was PLENTY of that. Deliberation? Yes, that as well since there was no intention of her chickening out.
Ms. McLeod turned on the spot yet again but maybe she was too zealous in her attempt for she lost her balance and found herself quite suddenly sitting on the ground. Cue her blinking in surprise.

Jude nodded when his question was answered and he returned Bagnold’s smile. It was a thoughtful manner in which she had provided the extra rings for the practice. But… if only he could at least Apparate just ONCE in the hoop! Gosh. And if he would please stop worrying about getting splinched, that would be wonderful. Clearly no amount of reading and researching had helped in preparing his mind for the slew of overthinking it was doing.
Minutes later, Jude was still making himself a complete failure but he wasn’t beating himself up too much about it. After all, Apparition was a difficult task. | |

It took Ash a while to start this activity... she was scared. But eventually, she worked up the courage to stand in a ring. It was good that they all had their own rings. She was taking her time. She was afraid she'd just splinch again... honestly, she didn't believe she could apparate. But she tried her best.
She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Destination. That ring over there. She pictured it clearly in her mind's eye. Determination. She breathed in and out, focusing on the rings harder... to others, it probably looked like she was standing still and doing nothing for a full minute. But that was how long it took to get herself prepared. Deliberation...
Ash popped into the next circle, not a fingernail missing. Shaking a little, she took deep breaths so that she could try again. Faster this time. | |

Okay he could do this.
He just had to try a little harder this time. His determination must not have been strong enough to get him from one point to another, but it had been his first try…. right? Try and try again, that’s what he had to do. At least he hadn’t made a mistake that moved him but lead to other problems. He didn’t want to lose a part of himself in the apparition process. Rajesh closed his eyes and gathered himself and his confidence, taking first one deep breath and then another before opening them again.
The three D’s
Destination…determination…deliberation.
Rajesh starred at the hoop where he wanted to be. Then he envisioned him being there, And then he did the turn. Suddenly he felt weird and the next thing he knew, he was standing inside the hoop in question. He had done it!

It was with a relief to see that the boy's she had been worried about, who's powers had taken them on a ride now where back on the ground. Aurora walked around amongst the students as they attempted to apparate some more successful than others. It was to be expected apparating was not an easy skill to learn in just a jiffy.
Glancing down at her watch to look at the time, she made big eyes. Oops, she had run over a bit. Taking out her wand to amplify her voice momentarily Aurora said "Good work everyone! I'm really proud of all your efforts. Apparating isn't an easy skill to learn without practice. I hope you all will continue to practice apparating so that you all some day can get your lisences. " After a short pause she continued "Our time today has sadly, come to an end. If you'd like a few more minutes to apparate in the rings then your welcome to do so." Flicking her wand a big box of chocolate frogs appeared at her feet. "Here is a little gift from me to you for coming down to attend my lesson. Please take a chocolate frog packet or two on your way up to the castle. Class dismissed!"

Jude knew he was running out of time for this session, and he was determined to make SOMETHING happen. Cue him doing some more breathing exercises to clear his mind and him focusing more intently on that hoop. He felt good about this try. Maybe it was a gut feeling, maybe it was all in his head. He wasn't sure at the moment he turned on the spot. All Jude was aware of was a never before felt sensation and he was suddenly standing inside his chosen hoop, a faint pop! ringing in his ear.
It took about a minute for the fact that he had Apparated for the first time to sink in. When it did, Jude let out a triumphant but soft whoop and punched the air! Oh yeah. Traveling from country to country for his future career was SO going to be a snap! | |
