| | |  The Eagle's Nest: Common Room
Image credit: hermionesclone At the top of a long spiral staircase on the west side of the castle, you come to the entrance to the Ravenclaw common room. The door bears no doorknob or keyhole, only a bronze knocker shaped like an eagle. For those able to answer the knocker’s riddle, the door will swing open to reveal an airy, circular room. The room boasts one of the best views in the castle, overlooking the school grounds and surrounding mountains.
The room is decorated in varying shades of blue and bronze, from the silks adorning the arched windows to the starry-patterned midnight blue carpet. If you happen to look up, you’ll see the same stars reflected in the domed ceiling. Even the furniture follows the blue and bronze color scheme, with plush blue chairs and sofas topped with bronze cushions scattered about the room. Portraits of famous Ravenclaw alumni hang on the walls, and a white marble statue of Rowena Ravenclaw herself stands beside a door at the opposite side of the room, Through that door you’ll find the stairs to the dorms.
THe common room is designed to be warm and inviting, so why not curl up with a good book and make yourself at home? | |

A high-pitched screeching sound echoes in the middle of the night, like that of a cat yowling to be let inside. Did someone forget their cat? No, the common room is completely deserted at this hour. The noise sounds in intervals of a few minutes, becoming louder and more insistent each time. Soon a strange scratching sound accompanies the screeching.

Falling asleep on one of the sofas in the common room was not something Lio did often. But a rigorous training day coupled with actually attempting a bit of studying for NEWTs late in the evening left him unintentionally dozing off, elbow resting on the armrest, head resting on his hand, Potions textbook open in his lap.
Until the screeching jolted him awake.
"Wha- ACK!" His head slipped off its resting place on his hand, the brief free fall feeling sending another jolt through him. The textbook slid off his lap as he stumbled to his feet, wand in hand, as the strange screeching and scratching sounds continued.
Who... What was doing that?
"Who's there?"

Mitsuki had not been asleep, at least not in the sense that most people would describe, and had been shaken easily from her airy position underneath her bed (it was a favorite reading spot). Less the screech and more the scratching, the second year had abandoned her book and dish of salt to follow the sound into the common room just as an older boy spoke.
"Mitsuki," she answered easily, awe inspired by how quickly he had been able to sense her arrival. The scratching persisted and her head titled a bit more to the left as she took several strides away from the staircases and into the common room proper. "Does it still want play?"

He turned at the sound of an unexpected voice, spotting the second year walking away from the stairs. Mitsuki? She wasn't who he had expected, but then again, had he expected the source of the screeching and scratching to actually respond?
He'd hoped for it at least. Sure would make everything a lot easier.
Though...Mitsuki's question was puzzling.
"It?" Lio asked, raising a curious brow. "Do you know what's making that noise?"

What was that? The noise caused her to jump in her dorm room. She rubbed her eyes and got out of her bed quickly, grabbing her robe and her wand (just in case). Slipping on her fuzzy pink slippers, she made her way out the door and to the Common Room.
In the CR, she found Mitsuki and Lio. "What was THAT?" she asked her two housemates before proceeding to rub more sleep out of her eyes. She couldn't imagine them making such a noise. "I was gonna say its a figment of my mind... but you both heard it... yes? Kinda reminded me of a kneazle..."
She yawned.

"Yes," she nodded in response to the older boy. It was a yes in response to both of his questions, though perhaps it would have been best to repeat the yes twice for clarification. It felt somewhat redundant to do so, however. "They left a message on the wall in the fourth floor corridor. They want to play ring-around-the-rosie with us all in front of the door that never closes." Something to that effect at least, she had consolidated the information and muddied things a little, completely unintentionally.
She also had no real evidence to prove that the noises here and the scratching related to the message on the wall were performed by the same entity, but she had no evidence that it wasn't either. And them being one and the same was the more interesting option.
