Front Cars

If you are eager to see, be seen, and get to London first, then the front passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.

Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about your summer plans, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by exchanging addresses, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.

Open!

Book of monologues in her hand, Lisa found a compartment for her to bunker in. She continued to flip through the book, looking for the perfect monologue to study and perform. Ah!

She plopped on the bench and continued studying the verse. Yes. Classical Shakespeare would do quite nicely.

Karleigh was really excited to go home. It was finally and officially summer! And… and.. was it too early to call herself a seventh year? It just felt cool to be the senior students of the school… but she wasn’t going to think about school right now anyway. Soon enough it would be back to school, but right now it was all about summer!

With her pink and purple pygmy puff perched atop her shoulder, she headed onto the train and popped into the first open compartment she found. Er.. at least she had thought it was empty. But no matter, Karleigh was friendly and gave the younger girl a bright smile before taking a seat. "Hi! Don't worry, I won't bother your reading. I just need a place to sit." And she could go off an look for her friends later, but it would probably be rude if she just got up and left.

Lisa glanced up from her book of monologues to find an older year student joining her. She flashed a warm smile, lowering her book momentarily. “No worries at all. Take a seat..” she said before turning back to her book and flipping a few pages forward. She pursed her lips. No… no that wasn’t the right monologue. She turned her gaze to Karleigh and bit her lip.

Food for thought. Could I get your opinion on what monologue to audition with?

The library would simply have to make due without one of its books over the summer as one Mitsuki Rasting was not quite done reading it and had neglected to return it before getting on the train for home. Her Hogwarts robes long since packed up and in her trunk now settled in the luggage compartment, Mitsuki fussed a bit with her bangs that had grown too long over the course of the term and were falling over and tangling with her lashes...but not quite long enough to tuck behind her ears. It was a curious position she found herself in, did she cut her hair as she always did...or should she grow it out?

It was a curiosity that Pistachio, her sea foam green puffskein, could not assist her with. Though she suspected that the creature rather liked her longer hair since it served as a blanket around it while it nestled on her shoulder...as it was this moment.

The ears of her black cat knee socks hugging over her knee caps, the Ravenclaw folded her hands over the cover of the copy of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as it lay against the black frill of her lolita skirt and stepped into an already occupied compartment because the wind had told her too. She surveyed the compartment she had been swept into, occupied by two girls and both older than herself. One, pale, slender, and with fine dark hair drawn with black ink, was also an eagle. The other, a girl with skin like sunlight caught within smoky quartz and with a companion that had Pistachio whistling, Mitsuki recognized as a Gryffindor. The first had a book with her, which begged to reason that this would be a quiet compartment with which to read...but she did not want to be too presumptuous.

So, still standing just a step beyond the threshold into the compartment - a threshold she had jumped over - the rising third year stared at both older girls while her puffskein wiggled back and forth upon her should with a whistle.

Karleigh was already on her way to having a seat so it was a good thing that the younger girl didn't mind. She supposed if the girl did mind and expressed that thought aloud then she would leave, even if she would have thought that rather rude.

But luckily that wasn't the case and she gave the girl a bright smile as she situated herself on the bench across from her. "Thanks! My name's Karleigh." And just as she promised, she wasn't going to bother her, but she certainly wouldn't mind if the other girl wanted conversation! She was always eager to make new friends, even if they weren't the same age. But just as she reached into her bag to occupy herself, the girl across from her posed a question.

"Oh, sure! I wouldn't mind helping... wait, are you in drama club, too?" Maybe that's why the girl looked familiar. But it was kind of a big group so it made sense to her that she wasn't sure.

The humming vibration of the pygmy puff on her shoulder drew her attention, as did the soft thump at the compartment door, apparently the sound of someone jumping into their compartment. "Hello," Karleigh brightly greeted the younger girl as she stood there staring at them. Ooh she had a pygmy puff too. "Do you want to join us?" Perhaps the girl was shy. But this Gryffindor had no problem being welcoming if that was what she needed. Unless she had a question or something for them.
