The Domes Graphic credit: Felixir A little way off the path between the castle and the lake stand several half-sphere outdoor shelters, known as the domes. Made from a sturdy and clear, charmed material that keeps the temperature inside relatively comfortable, and the air fresh, the main purpose of the domes is a location to hang out, alone or with a few friends. They also serve as impromptu shelters during sudden downpours, cool relief from the summer heat, or a place to warm benumbed fingers and toes during bitingly cold winters. Each is accessible by a simple door made of the same material. No need to reserve them - just make sure no one is already there before entering! |
Darius was roaming about on his usual fresh air brisk walk, knowing studying was going to be an even bigger deal than before. But for now he would procrastinate on it to get some nice relaxing. Cue the Dome picturing in his sights as his long legs brought him there in little time. Nice.. He thought, giving the inside a quick glance and also seeing the outside before plomping down on one of the lounge chairs. He could feel a great sense of warmth as he relaxed taking in the sight of the trees. What could be better? |
This fifth year claw was typically in a meh mood which makes it all the stranger she was actually in a good mood today. amazing, she knows. The reason...Amabel was back in her routine and honestly lets not ignore the fact she can see her boyfriend a whole lot more at school. These dome things were interesting. Amabel thought she had seen all there was to see on the grounds since honestly when she wanted a walk that's what she did just walk down by the lake and wander. Anyway, back to the domes. She made her way into one and well guess she could read in one of these sometime this year...no different than reading anywhere else. Chairs looked comfy at least. She had only come out here to judge and now she was debating relaxing here. Maybe she should drag Sammy out to one of these...ok now that was a good idea |
For Thea <3 Bram had noticed these crazy looking domes out by the lake when they first arrived at the castle and had wanted to visit them ever since. He was glad to find a place of solitude in a very busy and loud school. Even though he was a fifth year, this was his first year at Hogwarts and actually being in a school setting. Being Homeschooled as a wizard was kind of odd, but he had become so accustomed to being home, anywhere else was weird. Honestly...he was already starting to feel a little homesick. But. He wouldn't let that get to him. He saw that two domes were already occupied and quickly walked to an empty one, not wanting to bother the other students. Once inside, the quiet overcame him and he sighed, closing his eyes. It was so nice to have some quiet time. After a couple of minutes of just standing there, he was suddenly worried that someone would see him and think he was a weirdo, so he looked around for a cushion, and once located, placed the cushion on the floor, tossed his bag gingerly to a rounded corner of the dome, and laid down in the center, placing his head on the cushion. Yep. THIS was what he needed. For sure. |

It was happening slowly, but it was happening. And that was all she could ask for. She headed towards the domes, wondering what they were all about, when she thought she spotted someone she knew in one! She headed over to it, and slowly opened the door to see that indeed Bram was there! And laying on the ground? “Can I come in? ” The newly blonde fifth year asked as she peeked her head in. Not wanting to disturb his private time if he wanted that. |

Or he might have been falling asleep...who knows!? Suddenly, he heard the door of his dome open, and a quiet gentle voice asked to come in. A grin crossed his face at the sound of Sol's voice, his eyes were still closed. He had met her over summer at Diagon Alley and hadn't gotten the chance to hang out with her yet since they got to Hogwarts. "Yeah come on in, love." He said quietly, with his Scottish lilt that would melt anyone's heart. He patted the ground next to him, eyes still closed. "Come lie down. It's grand." He took a deep breath and sighed. |
Quote:
“Okay, I’m coming in.” She said as she shut the door to the dome behind her and carefully made her way over to where he was.. she settled down on the ground and laid next to him.. she too closed her eyes and took a breath.. It was lovely and quiet in here.. and a good temperature.. she could almost feel her worries melting away. “You are right, it is grand in here.” She said softly as she put her hands behind her head and sighed happily. “This is the perfect place to come escape from it all.” |
Quote:
"I told you." He said with a grin. He felt the tension in his shoulders slowly melt away. This was definitely going to be his quiet place. "I was needing an escape. Been feeling overwhelmed." He sighed quietly. Though...the quiet gave him time to think. And thinking right now wasn't the greatest. But he kept the thoughts at bay for now, he opened his eyes and looked over at Sol. And was suddenly overcome with how beautiful she looked. She had changed her hair since he had seen her last. "Well, hello! What did we do with our hair? You look great." He grinned at her, his heart beating a little faster than it had been a a few seconds ago...and was that a tinge of pink on his cheeks? |
Quote:
Innerrrrrrrrr peaceeeeeeeeeee She was trying to see if thinking it would help her achieve inner peace, but as he spoke.. she opened her eyes and glanced over at him. “Yeah? Has it been a bit much for you? I know it can be a lot.” Her voice was concerned as she sat up a bit, only to blush again as he saw her hair! “Oh! Yeah, you like it? I figured a fresh start would be good and what better way to do that, then to chop everything off and go blonde?” She said as she put a hand up to her hair and played with the edges of the short blonde strands a bit nervously. The grin made her feel rather melty.. and was that a blush? Or.. just the sun? It was probably the sun.. right? |
Quote:
He was for sure homesick, now. Darn thoughts. He grinned up at her as she sat up. "Yeah, it suits you. Fresh starts are always good when you've been through traumatic things. Makes you feel renewed and hopeful. And you have every right to feel hopeful." He said that with a gentle smile, before brushing his fingers against the ends of her hair. "Blonde is a good color for you." He said, his cheeks betraying him a bit more. |

Even after the war and her parents.. She shoved those thoughts away.. she couldn’t think about that right now. “Exactly! After what happened last summer, I wanted to look and be different. ” She had made it out alive and now it was time to heal and move forward somehow.. the hair was a start. “We can both be hopeful together ” She said with a soft smile as his hand reached up to touch her hair and she blushed again. Was it warm in here? “Thanks.. I’m glad you like it. ” Her voice was soft as she nervously tucked some hair behind her ear and glanced at him. It must have been warm, cause he looked like he was blushing too! Maybe the magical charms in this dome were wonky? |

"Right now I am a bit homesick." He said quietly. It was hard to admit that. He was a fifteen year old boy...he shouldn't be homesick, but he was. It was all he knew. He grinned hearing her talk about her new hair style and seeing how excited an animated she got made him happy. "Well, it looks great on you and I can already see that you hold yourself differently. More confident and dare I say, happy." He said with a quizzical brow before chuckling. He nodded at that next statement. "We can definitely be hopeful together, for sure." He liked the sound of that. He gave her a crooked grin. "Stop being so pretty, lass. It's distracting." He said rather seriously before sticking out his tongue. |
Quote:
Her smile faded as he looked at his hands and said he was homesick, that hit her right in the gut.. she too had been homesick for years, but she couldn’t go home ever again. She swallowed the tears threatening to well up and instead looked down at him. “It happens to the best of us. ” she replied softly “Tell me about your home, what would you be doing if you were there? Besides missing my company?” cue her own cheeky grin to try and lighten the mood a bit. “Happy eh? Shooting for the stars aren’t we?” She teased him. “I don’t know about happy, but hopeful.. and healing is what I would call it.” She’d had brief moments of lightness, like just a few weeks ago at Disneyworld with Everest, Tavvy and K.. but happy. Her memories still seemed to haunt her to much for that. “Yes, hopeful together! It’s not happy, but it’s trying. ” Her face instantly grew warm at his next words and she nervously rubbed the back of her neck.. “So says the handome guy with the killer accent sitting across from me. ” she wrinkled her nose at him playfully as he stuck his tongue out at her. Yes..it was very warm in here! |

He looked over at her, and could tell he hit a hard spot for her. He felt bad now because he knew she could never go back to her own home. He put his hand over hers, trying to comfort her, and thought about home. "Well, we live just outside Edinburgh in a wizarding village in a three bedroom cottage. It's lush and green and there are tons of forests to walk through. Which is likely what I would be doing, searching for magical plants for healing potions for me mum. I'd also likely be leading the bairns through and showing them what plants are good for potions. Then we would go through our regular classes with the other parents that teach us." He smiled thinking about his little sister running through a field to catch up because she saw a butterfly. "I would definitely be missing you though." He said with a wink. He chuckled, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. "Okay...maybe not quite happy. But I do like the sound of hopeful and healing. We both could use a bit of that." Everything was still so fresh. Hopefully and healing was for sure something he could do. "Exactly!" He said punching the air before laughing. She could always make him feel better when he was down, or overwhelmed. Was it warmer in here or was it just him? "Handsome, eh? Wait till you hear me Gaelic, you wont know what hit ya." He said waggling his eyebrows before cracking up laughing. Yep. Almost a tomato like color now. |
For Linds/Daniel Maya had decided she was rather fond of the domes on the grounds. It was a nice, quiet place for her to get her assignments done - able to enjoy the scenery but still safe from the elements. Occasionally, the girl did need a break from the walls of Hogwarts. Today, she had chosen to find an unoccupied dome to read yet another one of those muggle teen romance novels she had seen girls her age reading from around home. The books had been fascinating for sure and she had her little sticky notes in there, flagging various pages regarding questions she would have for Kimmie. So, the Slytherin curled up in one of the chairs and began to read, sticky notes sitting on her lap as she did so. |

"Well as incredible as I am." She was very clearly teasing here.. "We Will try to find you more, I can introduce you to a few of my friends..I don't have many either.. after you suffer a hardship, you find most people leave you, cause you are too hard to be around." She tried not to be bitter.. but it leaked through, just a bit. She felt his hand on hers, and gave him a grateful smile as she squeezed it gently. She didn't have to say anything.. He knew. She closed her eyes and listened to what his home life was like. "It sounds amazing, I can understand the homesickness.." She replied softly as she opened her eyes. "Well, I mean, there is no one there with abandonment issues and runs away from all her problems is there?" She said with a soft laugh as she ran a hand through her hair.. "We could both use a bit of that.. Hope and Healing." She needed some of that in her life now.. Even with her new "parents" she wasn't feeling very hopeful. They were nice.. but.. they were barely older than she was. One more year.. and then she could strike out on her own. She laughed as he punched the air, her arms crossed over her middle as she tried not to double over. Though apparently this was turning into a blush party, as he turned red and his next words made her turn red. "Well, be careful unless you want me falling for you." She said teasingly, as she put a hand on her cheek, it was so warm.. "Merlin, are the cooling charms not working in here or what?" |

Despite the fact that the domes were transparent, Daniel had missed Maya seated in the one he entered. If he had, the Hufflepuff would have been tentative to enter. He didn't dislike the older Slytherin, it was quite the contrary. He now had two options. Take a seat on the chair next to hers, and they could read silently together. Is that considered a date? Most likely not... He could also turn around and walk away. For the time being, the last option sounded the best. There was a difference between being in the same room with the person you liked when others were present and being alone. Daniel closed his textbook and held it against his chest as he turned around, hoping she had been so engrossed in the story in the book she was reading that she hadn't noticed his presence. |

"Sounds great to me. Anyone that you consider a friend has to be good." Her next statement hit home a little too well. "Yeah, everyone started treating me and my sister differently after my dad...," he sighed and looked down at his hands again. It really sucked losing the people you loved most in the world. He rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb, still picturing home. He would give anything to be lying in the field by his house looking up at the sky trying to figure out the shapes in the clouds. "It is amazing. I'll have to take you there one day." He said with a small smile. She would totally love it there. He was sure of it. A chuckle escaped his chest at that next comment. "Nope, no one there quite like you. But that's what makes you special." He grinned and gave her a wink. "Especially the healing. I always have hope...but the healing part has been a little tricky." Healing a broken heart that would never be the same was probably the most difficult thing ever. But he had hope it could be done. Baby steps. He chuckled at her next comment. He really wanted to tell her he wouldn't mind if she did fall for him, but they both had a lot of things to get through before that could be considered, he was sure. So, for now, Friendship and shameless flirting! Everything else was up to her and what she was ready for. He laughed even harder at her next comment, "Oh, they are working, we are just really good at making each other blush." He said with a huge grin, and tomato red cheeks. |

She relaxed slightly, seeing that it was just Daniel - Lisa's friend. Not wanting to be rude to her sister's friend, she gave him a warm smile and a slight wave of her hand. "Hi Daniel," she greeted, making note that he did indeed have a book with him. "Looking for a reading spot?" Which was what she would assume given the book and the standing there and all. "You're... um..." Maya glanced over at the seats in the dome wondering if maybe she was hogging the space all by herself? That was quite rude wasn't it? "You're welcome to join me if you'd like?" |

“Yeah, it really sucks doesn’t it? When all you want to do is feel somewhat normal, but everyone is treating you with kid gloves like you might fall apart..” She hated that part.. Any normality she had shattered a long time ago.. and now she was just on a search for her “new normal.” She liked the moment of his thumb, it was calming and yet not all at the same time. It was a fun feeling, one she hadn’t felt for quite awhile.. “I would love to see it, it sounds so beautiful. ” She said as she closed her eyes and tried to picture what he had described. Hopefully one day she’d be able to see it in person. She scoffed slightly at his words, but tilted her head at him. “And that’s what makes you special. ” She was very broken, but he still saw some good in her.. she appreciated that. “Healing is the worst, especially when it happens slower than you want.. or when you feel good one day and the next, the sky is falling.” She sighed softly, she was learning how to be patient with herself but it was a long process! She was grateful he didn’t comment on what she had said.. but the next one made her face flame even more.. “I think we are.. ” She said as she glanced up at him, her stormy eyes twinkling a bit.. |

"Exactly. The kid gloves. I'd rather have a real moment and talk about it than pretend it didn't happen. People would rather avoid it all together so they don't upset you, or have to have an uncomfortable conversation. It's just...maddening." He said through gritted teeth. He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Bram's anger ran close to the surface these days. The worst part of the grieving process was the unbearable amount of anger...at everything. He gently traced his thumb in different patterns over her hand. That was definitely a good distraction for him...plus the feel of her skin under his thumb was really soft and comforting. "It's really beautiful. You'd love the city too. It's really old and has amazing architecture and lots of shopping and amazing food everywhere." He grinned, Edinburgh was one of his places to go and walk around. He scrunched his nose at her repeating his words. "Sorry, but it's true. Our experiences, tragic and wonderful, are what makes us who we are. You have been through so much...and your still here trying to be happy and trying to live a normal life. There are so many that would have given up already. You haven't. Be proud of that." He said, pushing a lock of hair behind her ear. He nodded, "Agreed, completely. But it gets easier especially if you keep trying. It's a process. We'll get there." He gave her a small smile and a wink. He loved having these real and open conversations with her. He had never had a friendship like this before, and he hoped it stayed this way. His small smile grew into a large grin at that twinkle she had in her eye. They were very good at making each other blush. It almost felt like a competition...who could make the other redder than a stop sign? "Well, I think you win today. I am pretty sure I look like a lobster." He said with a chuckle. |

“Okay, then you shall meet one, the one I’m closest too, Tavvy, he doesn’t go here, he goes to Beaux.. But Ash is pretty cool, so I’ll introduce you to her. ” That was the bottom of her friends barrel. Sure there was Lisa and Maya, but things still felt tenuous with Maya. Ahh well, she didn’t matter to most people now and she knew that. But Bram was different and Sol was determined to keep this friendship and not run. “I don’t think people know how to handle it.. or even comprehend how it feels, unless they lose someone too. They have their lives and they don’t know how to handle tragedy.. so it’s awkward and they avoid it. ” She said softly as she twisted her fingers a bit. She squeezed his hand as he spoke and nodded. “Its very maddening.. ” She could understand the anger, her grief never manifested as anger.. but she had had a few brief instances of it. She smiled softly as he traced random patterns on her hand, it definitely calmed her down from the heaviness of what they were talking about before. “I’d love to see it, it sounds amazing.. I’ve never been to Scotland before. France, America and England of course.. but never Scotland. ” She said as she looked up at him, “I’m trying to be proud.. honestly I’ll be proud if I don’t run away this year. ” She said softly as he pushed her hair behind her ear and she smiled at him.. “Thank you,, for understanding.. I always try to… be better for people, and it’s nice not having to do it with you. ” She said as she squeezed his hand again. “Yes! We will get there! It’s a process, it’s not linear.. and we will keep fighting. ” She said with a soft smile, only to laugh again as he spoke. “A very cute lobster though. ” She said as she tilted her head and looked at him. |

"That's very true. I honestly didn't know. The only other loss I have had, happened when I was a wee bairn. My dad's parents passed when I was very young. I barely remember it." He said quietly trying to calm himself down. He looked up when she squeezed his hand and gave her a small smile. It was amazing to him that they could talk so comfortably and freely to each other. Hearing all the places she had been made him want to travel. He had always had the travel bug, but he had never really been outside of Scotland and England. He hadn't even been to Ireland or Wales. "I'd love to go to any of those places. And I would be happy to take you around Scotland anytime. Take you to the Highland Games. You can see a bunch of dudes runnin' 'round in kilts throwing things." He said with a chuckle. He continued to trace the back of her hand with his thumb. Was it more calming for him or for her at this point? He looked up at her, "If you run, I'll find you." It wasn't a statement. It was a fact. "You don't have to be better for anyone, especially me. Be who and what you are. That's all I want. Honesty in who you are." He grinned as she squeezed his hand again, and gave her hand a gentle squeeze back. "Keep Fighting!" He punched the air again before laughing uncontrollably. He could be such a dork sometimes. He covered his face with his hands as it turned even redder. "Oh, not again!" He then dramatically fell over onto the cushion his head had been resting on earlier. "How do you do this to me?" He said through laughter. |

However at the mention of Tavvy, she smiled softly. “Funny story and very small world. You see I was at Beaux for two years and I met him then, he had transferred over from Hogwarts at the same time I did.. and we became friends. And then when I got adopted, Tavvy’s older brother Everest, was the roommate of my new guardians. So yeah! Hes pretty great.” She said with a warm smile. Her “Uncle” Ever was fantastic.. Concern was back in her face as she looked at Bram, loss was so hard and it really took loss fo know it.. she wanted to take the pain away from him, but she knew being here for him was the best she could do. He got another hand squeeze though, just in case. “My guardians live in New York part of the year, they perform on Broadway, so we can fully see that one summer. ” She said with a warm smile as he explained more. “Well I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that?” she grinned at bit at him, before he spoke again and her heart thudded in her chest very loudly and she felt tears come to her eyes.. He would find her. And she believed him. “I’ll try not too. ” She said softly as she looked at him.. almost missing what he said next because of the feels that ran through her at his words. His hand squeeze brought her out of her trance and she nodded. “I can do that. ” She giggled as he punched the air, her hands grasping her torso again as she tried not to double over, however the moment he dramatically fell over, she lost it and started to giggle hard.. nearly curled up in a ball laughing as he spoke. “Must be a gift!” she said though her laughter. |
