Stone Bridge https://i.postimg.cc/1X4Xp3gt/stone-bridge-banner.jpg You will find at the end of the corridor on the first floor is a door that will reveal the Stone Bridge when opened. While it may seem like an odd place for a bridge, do note that it provides easy access to the next tower nearby and makes moving around the castle significantly easier. One will need to use this structure to get to Defence Against the Dark Arts, unless, of course, you are departing from there and need to get to the moving staircases. |
For Laura and Ignacio She could get used to this place. The castle was the perfect backdrop for almost all of her outfits, making everything she wore stand out just a bit more against stone. It also made her feel very collegiate somehow, which was cool. She liked feeling more grown-up. Having taken herself on a stroll to break in her new combat boots, the brunette paused on the bridge to take in the view. It was a nice enough day and the wind blew her hair back from her face, making her feel very much like she was in a film. Now she just needed some sweet, sentimental song to start playing in the background and she'd be set. Hey, she could hum. And so she did. Everyone should take a moment to really feel like the lead in their own story. |
Quote:
Alone he strolled through the Castle, not looking for anything or anyone in particular but happy to happen upon someone or something interesting. So when he heard the humming, he decided to follow it, joining in with his own ~harmonious~ melody. Which definitely sounded better in his head, of course, but that was less fun. When he happened across the person humming, though, he immediately clammed up because of who it was. The angellllllll. Nerina. The most beautiful person to grace this Castle, during his time at least. Of course the models and Quidditch stars and influences of the past were different. "Hi." Too squeaky. He cleared his throat. "Hi, Nerina," he tried again, this time his voice coming out more normally. |
That harmonizing though. Nerina heard it from a distance and grinned to herself. Check her out, inspiring others to hum along. She was an inspiration! She couldn’t wait to tell her mum during their nightly mirror call. The squeaking was cute, actually. ”Hey Ignacio!” Did she make him nervous? Is that what the squeaking was about? She wanted to know, but she didn’t ask. Not yet. You couldn’t just ask someone about their squeaking, especially when it was a boy. ”Nice day to do some wandering, don’t you think? Plus I need to break these in so my feet don’t absolutely kill every time I wear them.” She gestured to her boots and clicked them together. ”What are you up to?” |
Quote:
"Lovely day," he tried again. "Even better now I've seen you." Now that was great! It just popped out of his mouth, before he'd even thought it through, and Ignacio was incredibly pleased with himself now. He glanced down at the boots, and though he didn't know much about fashion, he nodded. "They're really cool. You could try a cushioning charm on them?" he offered, helpful! |
Aw, maybe he really was nervous! Nerina did her best not to look too pleased, even if the thought of making a boy nervous made her feel super good. Powerful somehow. Like a real woman. Grinning a little at his next comment, the fifth year reached over and gave her housemate a gentle shove. "That was smooth. I'm impressed." Could he tell? "I don't know why I didn't think of that. I swear sometimes I forget I'm a witch." Honest, she did. "Thanks for the suggestion." She'd be trying that out. "Since you're here and I'm here, you feel like hanging out with me for a bit? You can give me the inside scoop on this place." |
Impressed! He'd impressed her. Ignacio leaned into the shove a little, even if his eyes were a little starry and his head a little spinny. He wasn't sure he'd ever impressed anyone before, especially not someone like Nerina. Impressing people was more Mal's forte - even he was still impressed whenever she changed her appearance. Jealous, too, but still impressed! AHEM. "Don't worry. I don't think I forget I'm a wizard, but I definitely forget my wand," Ig offered a small smile as he tried to put Nerina at ease. It wasn't a lie, either - the amount of times he'd had to leave breakfast to run back to Ravenclaw Tower so that he'd have his wand for first lesson bordered on embarrassing. Less so at the weekend, but still. "Hanging out? I'd -" Ignacio almost said 'love to', but he caught himself just in time. That sounded too eager and full on, and he was trying to be cool. "Yeah, sounds like a good idea, seeing as we're both here," he said instead, although his grin might have betrayed his enjoyment of the idea. "Anything in particular you want to know about?" |
Quote:
"I guess I want to know about the people. Anyone I should watch out for? Anyone worth getting to know? Are their any professors I absolutely have to get on the good side of?" She knew that not everyone would have the same answers to these questions, but she figured if she asked enough of them, she'd get a good consensus. "Lay your knowledge on me, Ignacio. I'm all ears." She gave him an encouraging smile. |

If he'd been really cool, he might have mentioned that he would be a perfect partner for lessons. But Ignacio hadn't really thought that far ahead. "As for Professors... Well, definitely get on Kazmi's good side. He's the Headmaster now, and I don't think anyone knows yet what he'll be like, you know?" Ignacio tilted his head thoughtfully. "Definitely different from Trent, the last guy - but I doubt he'll be less strict. Probably make you clean the roof on your broom for detention, or something." Purely conjecture based on his past as the Flying Professor, of course, but Nerina wasn't to know that. Nor did Ignacio himself realise it. "Professor Flamsteed and Professor Holden are really good." |
Quote:
”Avoid partnering with the first years in lessons, got it.” A wise suggestion, she was sure. ”The headmaster was definitely on my list. I never want to be on his bad side.” So she was going to be avoiding that at all costs, thank you. ”Do they teach your favorite subjects, then?” She was fairly sure the Flamsteed one taught Herbology. She also had good hair, which Nerina had noticed and appreciated. ”And what should I know about you?” |
Quote:
Was it cool to admit he tried?! He was immediately regretting it. "Nah - there's a new guy teaching Creatures this year, and Professor Carton teaches Transfiguration," he admitted with a shrug. "I'm actually not all that great at Herbology." Though Professor Flamsteed was doing a lot to make him want to be better at it. Mainly by existing, which was also distracting. ANYWAY. Him? "Oh, not much," he shrugged. "I speak Spanish, and I love sports. And Chess, and I'm in the Duelling Club." And now he was out of interesting things to say. Ouch. |
Jenn & Maya! <3 Jude always found the Stone Bridge to be a good place to simply ‘hang out’ and clear his head. It was perhaps the only activity that didn't involve dancing or singing or playing the piano that helped soothe his mood. Not that he was in any bad mood or feeling a range of emotions. It was just after a long day of lessons, sometimes one needed to wind down. The Hufflepuff peered over the Bridge and down at the Lake. Part of the Lake, actually. The entire view was serene to him. As he stared down, he wondered if the Giant Squid ventured on a regular basis to this end of the Lake. Maybe someday Jude would find out. |

"I like transfiguration, too." And Charms and potions. All three helped her towards mastering some pretty epic hairstyles. She had a whole book full of ones she wanted to try and the better she got with spells and potions, the more successful she'd be. "I guess as long as you don't want to be a Herbologist when you graduate, that's okay." She offered a grin and a shrug. "Spanish, huh? I know Italian. Perhaps we can teach each other." Knowing different languages was hugely useful and Nerina liked to learn. Plus Ignacio was cute and friendly and she wouldn't mind spending more time getting to know him. |

"Hey Jude. Are you alright?" she asked quietly. |
SPOILER!!: The Origami Queen! <3 Nuh uh. There was definitely no site of the Giant Squid. Jude was quite sure because he was standing on his tiptoes for an extra boost. A light breeze flicked through the air, making his light brown hair closest to his forehead sway. And with that breeze came a particle of dust that flew right into one of his eyes. Jude immediately shut it and righted himself on his feet. His immediate instinct was to rub his eye but that would just irritate it, right? “Jeez.” He felt uncomfortable now. Especially when he suddenly looked directly into the face of Maya with the one properly functioning eye. “Oh hey, Maya. Er… no. I think something just got into my eye.” The Hufflepuff opened the said eye but shut it again because it hurt slightly. Also, the movement made it seem as though he were winking at his friend. |
Quote:
He grinned when she said she like Transfiguration, and then laughed a little. "Yeah, definitely no herbology career for me, so I guess it's not a massive loss," he agreed. As for teaching each other, Ignacio's grin would have got bigger, if it weren't already massive. "I really like that, yeah." Even if languages were cool and interesting, the main draw was spending more time with Nerina. "So, what else should I know about you?" |
SPOILER!!: sweet bby jude ♥ Maya was glad that he hadn't gotten scared when she had approached him. She would feel awful if he did and accidentally tripped or fell off the bridge. Though the ledges were quite high so she was confident that latter would not have happened. Taking a step back to give the Hufflepuff some space, Maya was going to say something but... What was Jude doing? He almost looked a bit twitchy in the face or like he needed a patch over his shut eye like a pirate would. At the mention of something possibly getting in his eye, she frowned. "Like... some dust?" she asked. "I have some water in my bag, do you want to try to flush it out?" |
SPOILER!!: Maya! <3 Indeed falling off the bridge would have been tragic for Jude. As it was, the whole dust in his eye scenario felt just as tragic. Maya probably thought he was being an idiot. Jeez. He needed to save his reputation. “Yes, dust… I think.” Keeping the culprit eye shut, he nodded. “Please and thanks.” Water was best when it came to situations like this. That or someone blowing on the eye as he had done with his siblings before. “Sorry if I’m inconveniencing you.” Jude expected Maya to be busy with something or the other but it was awfully nice of her to help him out. “How’s the term treating you so far, Maya? Done any complicated origami lately?" |
Quote:
And though blowing on one's eye could potentially solve it... wouldn't it be weirder for her to be blowing on his eyeball? She loosened the cap and handed over the pale blue bottle to him. "It's been good. Quiet." Which was probably better than what her siblings were all dealing with - feelings. "I haven't really gotten a chance to try anything new. There's been a lot of..." Maya paused as she tried to find the right words to explain why she hadn't done any new origami. "I've been preoccupied. How's the term going for you? Evan mentioned you knew piano, have you been practicing?" |
SPOILER!!: Maya! <3 In Jude’s mind, being apologetic was the right thing since he hated to be a bother to anyone. Maya’s thoughtfulness was appreciated though. Truely. “Yes. thankfully. So, I’ll be fine.” It was a reassurance to his friend as much as it was to him. Jude took the bottle with a murmur of thanks then proceeded to tilt his head back so that a light stream of water could be poured onto his eye. His eye immediately felt cooler, the sting fading away. At last, the Hufflepuff righted his head. “Much, much better,” he breathed, swiping at his cheek where excess water had streamed down. “You’re a lifesaver.” He handed back the bottle. Preoccupied, huh? “I understand. I can also bet that that’s not how you plan to spend your time. Life just comes out and knocks you over sometimes.” Jude nodded knowingly. “Just make sure you take time for yourself.” Jude was not going to probe about what these distractions were because he didn’t want to be intrusive; but he’d always be willing to lend an ear. At the mention of Ev, Jude’s heart skipped a beat and there was a brief moment that pain crossed his face. Forcing it away, he grinned. “I have been with help from my older brother. I think I’ve mastered it now. Stop by at the Music Room one day. You'll most likely find me there playing.” Only then did it occur to him that Ev had been talking about him to Maya. Huh? That was the last thing Jude expected. |
Quote:
Maya nodded. It wasn't a bad kind of preoccupied - it could be worse. And it wasn't like anyone was dying or going through a crisis so it wasn't bad at all. If anything, her siblings had been particularly interesting to watch this term. "I'm working on amending my schedule to find time for hobbies." Considering her initial one had not worked at all. Maya noticed the change in expression on Jude's face when she mentioned Evan. But like how he didn't probe into her distractions, she found it unnecessary to ask questions... currently. "That's amazing. I'd love to come by and watch!" she exclaimed, her brown eyes shining with excitement. There was just something magical about live music, wasn't there? "Maybe you'll be able to give me some lessons." And maybe she'd drag Evan to said lessons. |
SPOILER!!: Precious pea! <3 The offer of a tissue was perfect! Jude grabbed one, thanking Maya again. Did he usually say ‘thank you’ a lot? Maybe. But that was just him: he was a guy of manners. Jude sapped the residual water from his face then chuckled at Maya’s comment. “You’re a good friend to have around,’’ was his reply. All three of the Nams he knew were. Amending her schedule, huh? “That’s a good way to start.” Jude approved heartily. “If you have any trouble sticking to it, just give me a shout. I’m pretty sure I’ll figure a way out to get you back on track.” Maybe if Maya had origami on her list, he’d deliberately drag out paper and start doing his own origami folding {he had no knowledge of the activity, by the way}. This way, Maya would see the nonsense he was doing and she would want to help him out, and just like that she would be back on schedule! “You should!” The Hufflepuff was thrilled that Maya had volunteered to. He usually invited his friends to watch him play. It was good to practice before an audience, especially since one of his career goals was to be a pianist. “Sure! I’ll teach you to play your favourite song, whatever it is. How does that sound?” |
