I wasn't sure whether to post this or not considering the term is over plus I have absolute confidence that the tournament was completely fair, but here it is anyway...

Quote:
I remember you were part of the First task judging, right? Can I ask you a question? Why did Ravenclaw received points?  I have went over the rules again and again and it still doesn't make sense, let me explain:
There were 4 questions, and they were answered like this:

1-Slytherin
2-Gryffindor
3-Hufflepuff
4-Slytherin

Ravenclaw reponded NO question first. And the rules says only the first to answer gets the points, even though the second might have a better answer. And Ravenclaw(lightstar) responded to the last question AFTER Slytherin(Zekke) did, making those points Slytherin's.

I responded the first question, and my mate Zekke responded to the 4th question. But my question received no points, only Zekke's did. And Ravenclaw got points over nothing.... my question is:

Could this be a mistake and Ravenclaw got the points that Slytherin should have?

I added a better explanation why those points to Ravenclaw aren't valid in the letter to Hendrik, and advising the removal of said points, but not necessarily the adding of said points to Slytherin.

*titles head* I know I sound somewhat bosy but we need an explanation about this, will you? I don't know who to speak to but Hendrik and I am afriad he doesn't receive the letter in time. Please check the First Task (thread) and see for yourself that we are accurate in saying that Ravenclaw should not have those points, if the rules as stated abide.

Err... *shy* There's more into it. There're doubts about the appointing of points in the Last Task especially, but I guess you are not the person to talk to, are you? Mmh.... To make it short, the Last Task points seem to disapprove the efforts put in the First and Second Task. That's what I meant by unfair, because of the uneven way points are awarded. We are only '0,5' points behind Gryffindor in the 1º and 2ºTask making us Second Place, and only '0,25' points behind Ravenclaw in the Second Task (draw). And we are Second place again, but this time it seems we are going to loose for 10 points, and Gryffindor/Hufflepuff for 20/30 points.

Mmh, I don't want to make you loose your time, but we want our true points displayed in the boards and in equal opportunities from the first to the last task. I know you are not in charge of task three so... Think you could check that about the first task points at least, please?

*waits patiently /ooc- hope it is clear hat I am trying to say, because we both, Nadia&Zekke, felt furious that Ravenclaw would be wining by '0,50' points that are not theirs to start with - Please check and see it for youself, Slytherin should be wining. Thanks in advance and I am sorry to bother you with this.*
Any help on a response to this, or any thoughts?

I have already told them that I thought the scoring was completely fair and that I only helped with the first task. I think she tried to get in touch with Hendrik but also asked me because we were already PM'ing over a class question...

Any help would be much appreciated!

I appreciate the concern over the scoring, and I can only respond to what I know. I wasn't involved in the first task, so I don't know about that scoring, but it seems fair, since Ravenclaw showed up and made an attempt that SOME points appeared. That's the way it worked in the other two tasks... but again, don't know.

I'm glad they didn't have a problem with task two, as that was my baby, and I think it was VERY fair.

As for task three, the scoring did go "1st=40, 2nd=30,...etc." but that was made clear even before the task started. I don't know how else that task could have been scored, and I felt that it was fair, considering the task, and that it kind of reflected the spirit of the original Tri-Wizard tournament - scoring based on the order they completed it. Its unfortunate that this scoring means Slytherin lost, but... they didn't complain about it until it was clear they would come in second.

I'm sorry... its a game, and there was no absolutely fair way to do this, considering we AND they had real life and time zones to deal with. I think they're going to have to just accept the scores and we'll work to make sure that time zones are considered more carefully and that scoring is more even in some ways... next time.

Just my two knuts

Technically technical all the time Bookaholic

Whether or not the scoring was fair is no longer an issue as the tournament is over and the term should be ending any day now.
