Default Great Hall

Rain or shine, the Great Hall continues to be the hub of the school. Four long tables, one for each House as defined by the banners floating above them, are stationed in the enormous room facing the raised table reserved for the school staff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. Mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages are at your fingertips.

Whether you arrived for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on time or late, feel free to dig in as the headmaster has no speech to give. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables while sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves. Just remember to display proper eating etiquette and don't get any funny ideas. Food is to be eaten, not thrown across the dining room. Wasting food will come at a price that you will not like to pay.

"Stay safe." She added, nodding at Henry. "Lets go." And she was off again.

Seeing Charlotte Whittebrook and her strapping husband arrive with some more injured, Carmine called it out again, in case anyone was free to help them right away, otherwise they were on her own mental queue. "Two at the door."

Peggy nodded in recognition. "Charlotte Whittebrook, I cannot thank you enough for saving my life," she said, her eyes darting to Henry Whittebrook and her brow wrinkling momentarily as she put his face and name together. Under ordinary circumstances, she may have recognized him, but in the heat of battle had not realized. She flashed a quick smile as the woman left, presumably to fetch more wounded. Many people would owe these two their lives by the end of the day, she was certain of it.

The numbing spell had worked wonders on the pain from the curse. And the adrenaline of their escape from the bridge certainly helped her not to feel...anything.

He looked around anxiously--he didn't want to leave his brother here unattended, until he'd had a chance to explain to the healers what had happened, but he also felt uneasy leaving his father out in the thick of battle alone and itched to get back out there to join him.

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

Tucker had, somehow, managed to make his way to the Great Hall after getting hit by a lightning bolt just a few feet away in the Entrance Hall. While his brain was screaming at him to keep looking for his mum, he knew that he had to get medical attention or he was just going to find himself on the wrong end of a Killing Curse. Besides, maybe his mum was HERE, helping with the wounded. She was the school healer, after all.

His head was ringing, and anyone who looked at him would see that his blue eyes were diluted to two different sizes, which was obviously not how eyes were supposed to look. He also felt like he was going to be sick. He shouldn't have had such a large dinner before coming out here! Part of his pain was from the lightning itself, the other bit was definitely from being thrown into a stone WALL. Yeah, Tucker Schultz was probably down and out when it came to this battle. He wasn't going to be of use to anyone in this state.

"I...lightning bolt..." he managed to squeak out before he stumbled and fell to the ground, landing on all fours and unable to stand back up. Halp.

More healers were arriving, yet Elle hadn’t stopped working. She imagined there wouldn’t be much time to take a break any time soon as it was, even with Healer Beryl somewhat taking charge over the whole triage area. They’d all be needed, even the ones who had chosen to act as runners to go collect the injured and dead.

Although it appeared there were several who had managed to find their own way to the hall, and she had rushed over to the man who had collapsed near the door. The squeaked out phrase had been noted, even as she had gone into action. "Let's get you away from the entrance," she said softly, as she tried to boost him up to support him as she headed over to the Spell Damage area earlier delineated by Beryl.

Where she saw the other two men directed there. Okay. One lightning spell and, hopefully, something she could focus on at the same time. “Some sort of stunning spell?,” she asked, trying to clarify that it was what had been said before, directing the question toward the man who had accompanied the patient.

Yeah he was beaten and bruised and probably a cracked rib or two as well. And if it wasn't the one thing constantly on his mind his right hand...eh well you know. "I'm going to be fine." He lied. It was a relief to see that Minerva and Ethan had survived the collapse of the wooden bridge and the Inferi. His left hand gripped the wrist of his right hand. Trying to force any feeling into it. To no avail. "Are there more behind you? Where is Ella, Alec? Wade or Flamsteed?"

The standing still was only going to make him feel all this pain. Oakey couldn't let that take him out of this fight. Cairo was still not safe, Ariana and Xaria were still out there. He hadn't seen Evan since the Winged Boars. He looked over to the woman that Peggy had started speaking to. It was better she got herself tended to first. Oakey did not mind if she cut in some kind of imaginary line. Especially now. Go to her first. "I'll be fine." He lied again. Sure he took a full brunt of those lightning strikes from that crazed woman that sent him careening into the ground below him.

Thankful for the rescue but so long as he was no longer out of breath and he still had a working hand he had to go back out. He smiled at Peggy, Ethan, and Minerva. Pulled his wand back out and went for the Exit of the Great Hall.

Wade had made out from the wooden bridge collapse, just barely. His back was slightly sore from landing on it earlier but was easing out overtime. He was definitely not as young as he used to be trekking in. He had some scrapes and bruises against parts of his arms and one of his cheeks, but for the most part, was fine. "I'm here," He answered Oakey with Ella and Flamsteed likely not too far behind him. "Everyone good?" He asked.

Wade should have been tired after all that, he wasn't. Instead, he felt another surge of energy run through his course as he examined the state of the Great Hall. The injured and dead lining up. He didn't see his kids, which was a mix of relief and worry for him. His eyes searched for Min and Ethan, they had children here too attending as she vocalized their whereabouts. "I can't imagine they'd be anywhere alone... we should head up," Wade suggested. There were plenty of empty rooms they could be hiding in.

The flood of fatherhood feelings began to overtake him, leading Wade to head out of the Great Hall. He had to find his babies, Indy and Tierra were waiting at home for them all along with the rest of the Badger Baby Boomers. He hoped all the rest of the students were okay as well.

"Yes, I think so--there were so many spells being fired," Heraclitus said to the healer who approached. "That is--I thought it was a stunning spell, but it's not wearing off and I've been unable to revive him using any of the counterspells I know for Stunners." Heraclitus was torn between the desire to go back out to the battle to check on his father and to stay here with his brother, Horatio But, he suddenly realized, he felt really worried about his plump, inoffensive brother, who should never have been out on a battlefield. "Can you...do you think you can help him?" he asked.

More people filed in bringing their injured friends, family, and likely complete strangers to be seen, plus there were the runners coming in and out continuously. She was helping but she felt so helpless at the same time. She also kept herself from looking over at the death that were being brought in. Helping here was the only that kept her mind off of that.

Caroline nodded, and ushered the woman (Peggy) to a nearby seat to examine then woman’s arm farther. ”Alright. I’m Caroline, Let’s see what I can do for you.” She poked and prodded her arm. Removing the immobilization and numbing spells so she can see what the actual damage was. ”Let me know if or when you feel anything?” She knew she’d need to work fast and get the woman’s pain stabilized again.

Truth be told, Jade Flamsteed hadn't the foggiest idea what she was doing here. In a literally in the moment sense of the phrase. It was not as though she had completely blocked or otherwise fazed out the events from hearing the Minister's broadcast to her arrival at Hogwarts. It had been a rash and completely irrational decision, leaving Apricot and Coconut with one of her trusted neighbors and taking flight to Hogwarts. She was not a fighter. If anything she was a strategist but there was hardly time for any of that considering how entirely last minute and NOW the Minister's alarm had been.

Gryffindors, honestly. They were absolutely impossible sorts.

Jade was organized and so obsessively so that sometimes her precision rivaled her cousin's...who was here somewhere, she was certain of that. Her sister was here as well and best be keeping herself alive. There was no way that June would be leaving Jade with a flat full of vines - it was actually those vines that had been her final push out the door. Almost literally. Sentient flora about the flat was an eerie inconvenience. And then there was William, the handsome buffoon of a man, who had also crossed her mind as she fixed her bag and headed over. He had best made good on his promise to keep an eye on her abrasively spunky "nephews". They were both entirely too much like their father.

They all needed to be alive. That was not a request.

But what was she doing here. Yes, she knew how to take care of the occassional boo-boo now and then...but she was no healer. What purpose did she have here if she could not hold her own in a duel and she could not perform necessary duties as a healer? She had found herself somewhat of a niche, playing to her strengths of organization, and keeping some of the aesthetic of the Great Hall arranged for the ease of accessibility the wounded and able limbed alike. With so many bodies coming in and out and hustling around, it was impractical to summon items to a person without collision and a healer who had to escort the wounded to a place to rest was one less healer able to take care of another patient. She felt like this was a hundred steps back for her, reminding her entirely too much of the days she was employed as a secretary and her sole duty to be to fetch the higher ups coffee or fresh ink when they ran out. Humiliating work, truly. At least this felt like...she was making an impact. Humble and minor as it may be.

Thankfully she had worn very practical shoes today, her favorite pair of running trainers in emerald green and a swish of lime.

Darting across with a bowl of warm water doctored with some medical herbs and clean cloths soaking in the liquid, Jade's eyes glanced over each of the fallen and injured...finding both relief and dread in not seeing a face she recognized. It felt like she could not afford to take a breath. Setting things down, she wiped her brow and spoke rapidly on an exasperated exhale to the healer nearest her. "Is there anything else I can fetch for you?"

It wasn't, though. It really wasn't alright, none of this was, but it hardly took someone like him to point that out for anyone else to see it, tempted as he was. He pressed the heels of his hands over his eyes for a moment longer, braced against the healer's grip, then uncovered his face again. Yes. Needed to see, no matter what was easiest.

Beryl's words were getting through to him on a sort of delay, a few moments at a time, more would register. She didn't want him to sleep, that was fine, Kaiser didn't want to sleep either, not with everything going on around him, not when he needed to be doing something. It took until the tiny cup was handed to him until he finished processing the rest. He wasn't sure how to respond, and the words that did appear did not do so entirely on his say-so. "You're not old." Kaiser took the potion, swallowing it without complaint now. "Charles is... Charles is... is old." He couldn't help it. He couldn't help that Charles was the one who sprang directly to mind, yet again, in the midst of all this. Kaiser was doing him a disservice, trying not to even think about him, tonight of all nights, after months and months of exactly the same.

Nodding slightly - had it started working already, the pain potion? it seemed to have taken the harshest edges off, at least, and he could move his head a little without explosions of pain - and not quite able to make eye contact, Kaiser handed back the little cup. "Thank you," he said quietly, blinking hard to try and clear his vision, and turning to move away. Water, yes, sitting first though. For a moment. Just a moment to sit and clear his head in all the ways it would allow itself to be cleared, somewhere well out of the way.

Carter could hear yelling and spells so close. He glanced back at Caroline. "I'll stay with you." he said. He was sure Valencia would be... fine. She was a smart kid. He'd find her as soon as he was able to. Right now there were more people that needed help and there should really be people here that were capable of fighting back should anyone come barging in.

Carter would let Caroline do the actual healing. As a retired Quidditch player, he didn't have much experience with anything worse than quidditch injuries. He could handle mending bones if needed... and that was about as far as his talent went.

He, instead, conjured a glass and filled it with water. He offered it to her. Hydration was important.

Charles. The minister Charles? Carmine assumed so. "That just means he's more experienced and therefore more likely to know what he's doing and less likely to need your worry right now, young man." She took the cup back and placed it on her trolley. "Just rest, Kaiser. I'll come check on you when I can."

SPOILER!!: Oakey and yet another Flamsteed :P

Seeing one of the injured go to leave, Carmine frowned in annoyance, had he REALLY wasted the time of some of the people who had brought him in when they could have been helping someone else? If he was injured and perhaps delirious or delusional however....

"You can try fetching that one!" She answered Jade, pointing that way. And he was already out of the Great Hall, but perhaps she, or someone else, could catch up to him in the Entrance hall? He couldn't have gotten far. "Likely to get himself killed or lose his arm if he doesn't get treated."

Halp.
And another arrival, another reason Carmine herself wasn't rushing after the idiot who left. She instead she hustled over to him. Lightning bolt? These lightning spells were diabolical. The main risk was nerve damage. "Can you hear me, young man?" She cast a numbing spell, one that would help soothe his nerve pain, just as a first step. "I'm going to immobilise you and move you over by the wall so I can help you." And scan him with a diagnostic spell too, which she was doing right now.

Fetch. That was a word choice that caught up with the cynophilist several moments after leaving her lips. Though now was not the time to tickle her own funny bone. Tying her long black hair up in a messy bun, flyaways galore, Jade nodded to the woman (Beryl, was it?) and then tried to make sense of which individual she was meant to be dragging back in here. She had a son, she knew how to get the job done when necessary. With only a glimpse of a jacket and tuft of curly brown hair to go off, Jade twirled past a couple of people as they slipped inside and held open one of the large wooden doors while she peeked out to try and find the man in question.

A peek out was all she needed to know that she would most certainly not be venturing out into this chaos. Though she did take a moment to survey the scene and search for familiar faces assess the situation. It did not take long for there to be a loud explosion, a large hole appearing in the castle, and stone hurtling themselves towards where she stood. Flicking her wand to cast a Shield Charm, Jade deflected the stones and took another lingering glance over the scene before closing the door again. She was fairly certain she had made out the man she was meant to bring back for a proper evaluation, and that would be a hard no on retrieval. She would not be throwing herself into the thick of danger for some man's precipitous choices.

"Both by the look of things," she replied with a judgmental gravity her voice as she moved back towards Beryl and began meticulously arranging some of the supplies on one of the makeshift stations nearby. "Already throwing himself into a duel against some witch." Hands shaking a bit, some of the bandages fell less than parallel to one another and therefore the entire row needed redone. "There are inferi out there, not many but still too many." As to which side was dominating...she dare not say. "Nearly impossible to tell what is going on with the amount of spells being cast...and there are students out there. Students fighting."

He had best made good on his promise to keep an eye on her abrasively spunky "nephews." They were both entirely too much like their father.

She'd do whatever she could, no smelly animals necessary. So she flicked her wand at Scott too to help levitate him, trying to be gentle and careful.

Somehow, and don't ask him how, but someday he would look back on this and think that he dragged himself here when in reality he limped and levitated this lightning-struck man along with him.

He also had help, though, from the man's.... girlfriend??!?

William eyed her for a moment as he found a spot to slowly lower his levitation spell, promising to the woman that he'd, "Be right back." The thing was that SOMEONE had caught his eye and he needed, he HAD to go talk to her.

So he once again draaaaaaaagged himself way, this time heading for a dark-haired beauty talking to another healer. "You can fetch me a latte with foam on it, NOT frozen, please." Heh, was that too much to ask? He nearly collapsed just with relief at seeing Jade, though, and the pup under his arm let out a yap of glee for the familiar face too. HI, JADE, HI, was what April said.

Default Bringing back in Torrance with one Body. Ready to help heal when needed.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

Torrance moved back into the Great Hall. Levitating his Uncle's body in from behind him. The move was only a few feet but the walk felt like an eternity. He moved past. He had hoped that Vi got his clear instructions to incapacitate the woman who attacked Uncle Julien before he died and to remover her wand. Was she following in behind him now? He walked past a woman (Jade) and a Man (William). Not giving them a second glance as he moved to where the dead lay.

"I'm sorry Uncle Julien." He gently laid the body onto the ground where the other's who gave their life for this war lay. Exhaustion finally gave and Torrance went to his knees at his Uncle's side clenching at his pant legs.

He held back some tears then tried to stand up. His knees shaking as he did so. He looked around to anyone who might need some attention. "I can help. Use me where you need me." Mourning and grief for later. Torrance had to keep pushing forward to help the Order win this war.

KAISER: ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
Kaiser knew that worry was pointless. Rationally, logically, he knew that worrying about something did not solve it. He knew that fixating on something did nothing to help anything without also taking action. He'd always known these things, and perhaps that was why he firmly denied any and all accusations of anxiety, but it didn't stop him concerning himself now with where Charles was and what he was doing. Fletcher too. Candela. Elio.

But he did as Beryl told him, and went to find somewhere to rest, ending up off to the very side of the room, to where the tables had been pushed back, well out of the way. Right down at the end of the hall, Kaiser slipped into a space between tables and wall, a corner where he could see as much of the room as he could, including the doors, and sat on the floor with his back resting against the stone wall. He drew his wand from its holster, held it ready in one hand, folding his arms and concealing it on the hidden side of his body while he rested. Rest. Just for a moment, just a moment.

Kaiser didn't really think it would be possible for him to fall asleep. So much was happening, his mind raced with everything and nothing, the flashing lights of spells were still visible through the windows and distant explosions could also be heard, but the pounding in his head was not quite so harsh as it was. He could manage the pain, but struggled now with thinking. Here, sitting on the floor, every time he found a thought and tried to hold onto it, it quickly slipped away. Kaiser watched the door, waiting for familiar faces, only for his mind to drift and snake its way down other avenues. His eyelids grew heavy.

And the boy young man, who had always found more safety in chaos than he ever did in tranquility, slipped suddenly and inescapably into sleep.

He dug in his heels, urging the Threstral - which he certainly shouldn't name but certainly wanted to, and perhaps he had already thought of a good one - higher, away from the danger, the dead bodies and the fire. Q wasn't sure what he was most eager to get away from. "She was being attacked by some cowards by the lake. I stunned them and left up tied up for the order to grab. Didn't feel right leaving her there." So he... brought her into battle. Perhaps not the best idea for her safety but it was certainly helping.

The battle here had waned, any fool could see that. "Were they trying to burn down the bridge?" He asked, flinching away as the bridge, with a final roar, collapsed hard into the dark water far below. He couldn't have told you which side won, in fact, he wasn't sure there had been a winner in this game. "I'm taking you to the Great Hall... " He paused, gripping the bridle carefully in one hand, "What's your name?" and with that, he kicked in his heels and the Beater, the Herbologist and the Threstral were out of there.

He'd have time to think... whatever they'd just witnessed... later.

In Therapy.

It was true. Zoryn liked to hear the sound of her own voice. But we all have our vices, don't we? "That's a shame, could help with all the"—she looked down at the miserable lot of them—"ugly." Or...... maybe not. Can't shower away perpetual garbage face. Soz. Anyway, zombie brains were old news and talking about them any more would be doing a disservice to humanity. Besides, this funny hell horse was way more interesting. "That's weird. I've never seen a skeletor hippogriff at Hogwarts before. Just my dumb luck that they'd buy some after I graduated." Threstrals? Never heard of seen them (not before today). She'd tell Faith all about 'em though. Her wife was the one with an affinity for creatures; Zoryn only ever thrived when she could whack at balls #ProQuidditch.

In retrospect, burning the bridge wouldn't have been an all-together terrible idea, had it been done on purpose. As it was, however... "No, they were just being idiot sandwiches," she explained, as if that answered the question. "I'm Zoyn Chosen, who are you?" In any other scenario she may have had the audacity to be offended that he didn't know who she was, but now that he was carrying her bridal style into the Great Hall, she didn't feel the need to complain. BUT let the record show, even though she was bloodied and in pain, Zoryn Spinnet is NOT a damsel in distress!!!!

She didn't mind being carried though. This was proper nice. Also proper nice? Her angel's jawline. "Y'know, if I wasn't already wifed up..."

Peggy watched with alarm as Oakey...got up and and left? Hadn't he been hit with the same lightning type spell as she had? She was unable to actually do anything about her worry for the man, though, because suddenly the healer had removed the numbing spells and Peggy yelped at the sudden return of the pain. "Yes, Caroline, I feel that," she said with gritted teeth.

Perhaps she would get another tattoo to commemorate this injury, as she had all her Quidditch injuries.

"One of those lightning spells made it through my shield," she added, trying to remember what exactly had happened in case it helped the healer know how to help. "I guess my arm took the brunt of it."

She fell silent, trying to ignore the pain, as she was distracted by the entrance of the young lady with the bat from the bridge. She was glad to see several of the others from the bridge had made it off successfully.

follow me; everything is all right.

Sashaying its way through the great double doors, silvery airy form of an opossum climbed up and down and up and down several tables and torches before perching itself to address the crowd. Though the battle had not reached this great hall, the message to be delivered was one and the same - the patronus' only command to 'tell them'. And then the voice of the Minister, strained but strong, erupted out of the spirit guardian’s open mouth.

When Jade returned and explained the state of things outside, Carmine frowned slightly. Inferi. This school had quite the problem with inferi. As for the students.... she could not allow herself to distract herself with wonderings if her own children were out there (one of them, the most grown one, she saw arrive out of the corner of her eye, with a young woman in tow). She took a calm breath, carefully checking her patient over and healing the small surface scrapes and bruises as she did so.

"Well. Be ready in case they get through, I suppose." Perhaps overly calm about it but her task was helping the injured who were here, and they had done their due diligence at least trying... "Thank you, Jade." She added sincerely, before returning to her work.

The diagnostic spell showed that Tucker had avoided any serious internal damage, though he was another with a concussion. Carmine had him moved to one side, temporarily immobilised and with soothed with pain reducing spells while she prepared some of the same potions from her trolley that she'd given Kaiser shortly before. That and a little something to protect against the potential nerve damage from that lightning... She did spare a cursory glance in Kaiser's direction, gratified that he was resting, but her attention was on her current young patient, and she explained what she was doing every step of the way. Finally after tipping some of those potions down his throat, she released the immobilisation spell.

"Just rest young man, I'll check on you soon."

And the arrival of a patronus (truly, there had been a few, but this one commanded a different kind of attention than the others from healers who had been out there in the thick of things), caused her to pause slightly. Well. She certainly wasn't about to lay her wand down. The fighting might be done (which she would wait to see if that was the case, who knew if the minister had once again been compromised or not?), but there was still work to be done.

"Be ready for more injured, all." She said to the healers in the hall. If they were truly done, they'd be inundated soon enough. "And prepare to transport them back to St Mungos." Carmine paused then added, "The dead too."

Default Heraclitus with a still-stunned Horatio

Heraclitus Blackthorne was sitting beside his still-stunned brother, Horatio, hoping that the healer could do something for him. He supposed that a stunned wizard didn't pose as great an emergency as some of the other more obvious injuries, but still, he wished someone could figure out what was wrong soon. What if Horatio never regained consciousness? What if every minute he lay there unresponding made it worse?

And what was happening out on the battlefield to his father? What had happened to his niece, Violet, here at this occupied school? Heraclitus was usually very good at waiting, but right now, his patience was being strained to the utmost. Suddenly, a patronus appeared with the message that the Alliance and its leader had fallen. Well, this was some good news, but it still did not relieve Heraclitus' worry about his family. But he didn't feel he could just leave his younger brother here, unconscious and among strangers, so he continued to sit beside him, hoping that he could be revived soon.
